Looking for a Photographer this weekend for couples shoot

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I'm looking for a photographer available this weekend in Maryland, specifically around the Baltimore area, for a mini anniversary session. Some of our plans fell through, and I thought it would be a good idea to reach out and ask in this amazing group!

We got married during COVID and never had the chance to get those beautiful photos we dreamed of, so it would mean the world to capture some memories with my husband—especially with the gorgeous fall colors and while the weather is still nice. We’re working within a budget, so if there are any photographers in the Baltimore area who might be available and willing to help us out, I would be forever grateful.

Please let me know if you or anyone you know might be available. I would truly appreciate it! Thank you in advance.

[Queer] Halloween Events?

Hi all! Relatively new to the city. I’ve very much been a home body and haven’t really made any friends in the area lol. I know I’m asking a bit late but I’ve decided that maybe I should get out of the house. Are there any Halloween events tonight worth checking out? Would especially love to be connected to some Black + Queer spaces but I’m open!

Thanks in advance and Happy Halloween 🎃👻

I-95 to Fed Hill. Do you prefer Exit 52 Russell St/MD-295 or Exit 53 I-395?

I used to only take Russell St -> Hamburg home because it seems like a shorter route, but I've been burned too many times by having that street closed by the stadium. The GPS always tells me to take 395 and I'm starting to appreciate it more even though you have to slightly go through downtown to do it.

TimeLeft in Baltimore.

TL,DR: If you're new to the city and looking to meet folks, TimeLeft is fun to try. The worst possible outcome is you have a nice dinner, the best possible outcome is you have a nice dinner and make some friendships. It's a pretty low risk deal.

If you're not familiar with it, the concept is an app that "matches" you with 5 strangers for dinner at a restaurant they pick. You answer personality type questions, and then the app matches you with people it thinks you'd gel with. All the dinners are Wednesdays at 7pm, and then the app also recommends a spot for after dinner drinks at a bar after the dinner.

I got a discount (via Instagram) to try it out for a month, and so far I've been to three dinners. (All the restaurants I've been to have been near Fells or Mt. Vernon.) I'd say the conversations actually went surprisingly smoothly for total strangers, tbh.

After the dinner, you rate your dinner companions (just a thumbs up/down), and if you "match," it creates a chat, although there's no obligation or pressure to use it. It's nice because you don't feel weird about giving your contact info to someone you just met.

As someone whose hobbies are pretty indoorsy, this was a cool alternative to a Volo league. This isn't a sponsored post or anything, I figured I'd just do a little write up for people who were considering it.

Best date night restaurants in Canton that don’t require a reservation?

Poor planning on my end, planned a date night to La Barrita this weekend and it’s all booked up. Any good date night alternatives? We want to stay local to canton maybe fells?

Best place to trick or treat in or around Baltimore?

I don’t mind the crowd, I’m new to the area so I haven’t spent Halloween in the area yet.

Man called the “Pumpkin Pervert” wanted in the St. Mary’s Park area..

Just seen this flyer posted on several poles in St. Mary’s park. Spoke with someone familiar with the situation, and was told this dude has been stealing pumpkins and doing “nasty” things with them..( Whatever that means)…

He was also caught peeking inside basement windows. Just be careful if you live in the area.

Ballot questions- where/who does the city borrow money from??

About half the ballot questions for Baltimore involve borrowing tens to hundreds of millions of dollars, totaling up to about $250m. I am for all of the things the borrowed money is for aka affordable housing, improving school facilities, economic and community development, etc. But I don’t understand where this money is coming from, or who they borrow this from? How does it affect the community and tax payers in the long run? Even when I look up plain language summaries I can’t find that information anywhere. Maybe these are stupid questions, but any insight is much appreciated!

Watery mess

This is what greets me at the corner of Cathedral and Franklin every morning as I attempt to use the crosswalk to get to work. It's been here for a month now. Makes crossing very difficult and dangerous because I'm crossing not at the corner but a few feet away to avoid the puddles and turning cars are not seeing me. Help me DPW! You're my only hope!

Looking to buy a car from a dealership, where do I go?

Hey guys! I am new to the area, and don't know much about Baltimore or MD at large. Wanted to know, if someone wanted to go to an area and see a lot of cars to buy, what city should I go to? Planning to check out a few places this weekend.

Thanks!

This behavior gets people killed! A driver ran a red light at speed last night at least 10 seconds after the light turned, if I had been a few seconds earlier I would have been in the intersection. Always check oncoming traffic even if you think you have a safe green light!

Five-ish hours in Baltimore - is this route realistic/worthwhile?

Hello all.

I'm an Englishman visiting Washington DC next weekend and I'm flying back from BWI on the Monday. My flight is at 20:30 so I'm planning on having a good few hours in Baltimore and am considering doing this 2 hour each way walk. Is there a better way to spend my time? I'm just hoping to see the best sights I can and have a pint or two in somewhere nice that I pass (and I've included Cross Street Market as I'm going to Washington to see the Commanders so I thought that might be 'interesting'). I'll probably just grab some fast food en route.

I will have two cabin bags with me and I was hoping to find a left luggage place on one of the apps like Luggage Hero, but it seems that Amtrak at the station is my only option.

I was toying with the idea of finding a way to see the Francis Scott Key Bridge, but I believe that's mostly been recovered now?

Thanks all!

Places to eat dinner alone (low-key vibe)

I've lived in Baltimore for a bit, and I know the area around where I live. But my birthday is coming up, and I want to treat myself to a nice dinner out alone (an introvert's dream). I don't usually go out into cities alone, especially at night, so I wanna make sure I'm doing my research. I'd really appreciate some suggestions! A few things I'm particular about:

- it needs to be in a relatively safe place so that a woman can wait for an uber even after sunset

- I'd love it if the place had a lowkey vibe. My ideal night would be to read a book while I eat so a place with loud music like R House wouldn't be ideal.

I'm pretty open to most cuisines, but my family is Indian, so I'm pretty picky with more Americanized Indian food.

I'd love any suggestions!

Edit: you guys are awesome! I’m working my way through the suggestions, absolutely loving them :)

Big boom in Baltimore

Yooopo. Did anyone near MLK and west more area hear that bigg ass BOOM that just happened like 10 minutes ago? It sounded like a fucking bomb going off. Shook my house and made me and my husband jump. Hella police, ambulance, helicopters and fire trucks are going around. We couldn't see anything from our street but it sounded like it was right outside our house.

Looks like police all along Lombard, helicopter hovering over Light @ Pratt.. another motorcade? We can’t see from where we’re at.

Today's Bike Commuting Adventure...

I commute to work by bike. Today I was in the lane on Sharp street stopped in a line of cars (because no one could move forward since the intersection was blocked by cars on Conway). This woman in an SUV stops behind me, lays on her horn and starts yelling at me. Then she swerved into a left turn only lane to cut through the line and go across Conway to Sharp almost hitting multiple cars and yelling at me to get in the bike lane (that doesn't exist). I think I know the real problem here and it wasn't me. We have a bad biking infrastructure here and it's a law to share the road with cyclists. I just had to vent because a couple weeks ago a guy sped up behind me on Sharp in Otterbein and just blared his horn at me when he had plenty of room to go around me. Just very frustrating and frankly kind of scary.
