Wife and I are 31 and 28, looking to join a country club as a social (non-golf) member. We are not golfers but would like to have an exclusive restaurant for dining and attend private events to meet other young couples. We live in Hunt Valley and are very close (<5 mins) from either Hunt Valley CC or Hayfields CC. Which one would you recommend for the social aspect?
Hi all! Hope this is allowed here.
My lease is up in Parkville at the end of January and probably won’t renew. The mice problem here is crazy and management gives little fucks about it or anything else. My “first choice” complex doesn’t have any availability when my lease is up so the search is on again.
Anyway, budget is around $1500 a month for a studio or one bedroom. I’m a single female with a dog so hoping it’s also relatively safe in and around the complex. Also, not infested with mice is a huge plus…
Looking for 1st hand knowledge of:
Hampton Manor in Cockeysville
Southfield in Nottingham
The Apartments at Cambridge Courts in Rosedale
Thank you all!
#EDIT: it's been claimed! Thanks!
We bought this one for our apartment, and it looks pretty much fine, but it's significantly beige-er than the photos, and didn't mesh with the rest of the decor. The Amazon photos look like a delicate off-white or cream, but the unit itself is darker/warmer-toned and clashes with our grey carpeting.

It's still in the box, we didn't even bother trying to assemble it once we pulled out the pieces and saw the color. We tried to return it, but we already paid $200 for the thing, and it'd be $223 to ship it back, soooo. 😬
Happy to take pics of it if people turn out to be interested. We live in 21234, technically Parkville but it's north of 695, around where Joppa and Perring Parkway cross. Can arrange pickup most days of the week; I work in a school so usually one of us is available by 4pm, plus weekends. We don't have a car that it fits in, though, so we can't do delivery. We're happy to help get it into your vehicle once you're here though. It's quite large, 89" assembled (so the box is longer) and the listed shipping weight is 100+ pounds, so I recommend bringing a dolly if you have one, and ideally at least one additional able-bodied adult. The box is clumsily taped closed so it's a bit more vulnerable than it was during the original shipment.
I don't check reddit DMs often, so text me at [redacted] if you're interested. First come first serve, I really just want it gone to a better home so I'm reluctant to promise "holding" it for anyone (unless you're willing to pay lol).
Hi, I'm new to the area and am looking for a day trading community: Baltimore County or City. Anyone?
A little early but wanted to know where owe can buy a tree
Is there anywhere in or nearby Towson where I could get a bag of whole bean coffee ground, even if it’s from a different store? Starbucks isn’t an option.
Edit: I have a bag of whole bean coffee; looking for a store that wouldn’t have a problem with grinding it for me even though I bought the beans elsewhere.
Baltimore County road were clearly laid out by a group of people who were really, really drunk, leading to lots of strange configurations. What particular road routings are the most counter intuitive, strange, or just moronic? Feel free to include segments that go into the city.
My #1 and the inspiration for this post is Bellona Road. Starting at the southern end it's fine, just a road that comes off of York in the city and meanders NNW, eventually thrung due north at Lake Roland due to the lake and ligh rail. Just fine. Then, suddenly after crossing Joppa (another candidate for this post) it takes a hard turn to the east and goes directly to Charles. This is where it really gets crazy. If you go straight there, you are on Kenwood, but turn left into Charles and pass 695, oh, there's Bellona again if you turn right, now moving NNE. Then you, somehow, get back to York road and Bellona ends, for some reason becoming Margaret until it's real terminus at Pot Spring Road.
Seriously, who the hell came up with this.
I go to the county a lot and I heard that it is actually not as Democrat as other places. Pretty surprised. What are the liberal/moderate/conservative areas in the county?
Before becoming my own person and moving away from religion, I used to go to what I believe is one of the largest churches in the county--Hunt Valley Presbyterian Church. Back around 2016-2018(ish), they were growing so large that they needed more space to accommodate all the people that were joining.
They decided to launch a campaign to raise a large sum of money to build this building. In the end, I remember they were able to make at the very least over $10 million from their congregation, though it could have been much more.
They were then caught up in a legal battle with neighbors who didn't want them to expand the building. This went on for years and required a second campaign to raise money for legal fees. A year or so into this I stopped attending.
I've heard that they recently completed a 4-year long search for a new head pastor, but that there's been no mention of the new building (that was slated to be completed years ago at this point) or the millions of dollars that went into it and the legal battle.
I don't know much about this kind of thing and am not trying to accuse them of anything, as I believe they had every intention to honor the donations they received. However, there is just about zero information on this online and from what I hear, the building plans seem to have been pretty much abandoned without mention of the incredible amount of money that was put into it (I still know people who attend). This strikes me as very strange and possibly concerning, and at the very least makes me incredibly curious as to what the story is.
Please do not start throwing wild accusations--I know churches are notorious for scamming people out of money, but as someone who has a LOT of criticisms about Christianity and the church as a whole, I can say with certainty that the people in charge of HVPC (at least when I attended) were fully committed to doing what they felt was right towards god and the congregation. Any wrongdoing I would attribute to mistakes rather than malice.
Nonetheless, I feel like this kind of story doesn't often get picked up by news due to the nature of many Christians being wary of drawing any more negative public perception, and therefore they go unnoticed by the general population. I think it's probably important to have at least like...some understanding of these massive undertakings preserved in the public record. Mostly though I'm just curious lol
Hey y’all, I was wondering if anyone knows of any black Santas anywhere in Baltimore or on the outskirts that me and my partner could bring my step daughter to take a photo with?
I live near Baltimore, about 30mins outside the city, and we use and LOVE YNWA vet in canton for our dogs, but I haven't had great results with their cat vet. Is there a strictly, cat vet in the county or city that you guys like? TIA 😊
I moved to Maryland from NJ about 2.5 years ago for work. I have a small group of friends I know from work that i hang out with on occasion, but not many people from outside of work.
In April 2024, I moved to Baltimore County to move in with my partner. Unfortunately, it seems like living together didn’t work out and we are going to be breaking up.
My partner was really my only friend/connection in Baltimore county. In light of our breakup, I’m looking for any ways to make new connections or take on a hobby with people around my age. I’m not sure what clubs, activities, or programs are out there that i should try.
i do not know what i’m supposed to do anymore. the bus doesn’t take me exactly home and the only way is taking a busy road. i don’t wanna dox myself since i’m a trans person…and politics are bad now that Trump is in office.
i literally was grazed by a car tonight and i have nerve damage from an incident prior to this. there’s no other roads i can take because that would be the interstate. there’s no sidewalk. the street that i have to take a turn on that leads me home is a left turn. i can’t just cling to the right the whole time because then i’ll either be bullied into the interstate, or miss my turn (which i only drive my scooter exactly just 4 minutes to reach home.)
i’m not used to scooter driving, but from what some people that live in the city, they’re telling me i’m doing everything right. but i’m scared i’m not. there’s no other way to home other than the busy road.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for being a part of this subreddit. I hope you've found it enjoyable and useful.
I'm a bit over-extended. I moderate a bunch of larger subs and also have a busy day job and grad classes. So sometimes, issues on r/baltimorecounty, a much smaller sub, don't immediately get on my radar.
So I am looking for at least one other mod to join me on the staff. Previous/current Reddit moderating experience preferred. Please reach out using modmail.
Have you ever wanted to own a dog, but wanted to try it out first?
Do you love dogs and want a way to give back to a local rescue?
Do want to save a life and help a dog find there forever home?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, then you should consider fostering a dog through Partnership filing Animal Welfare (PAW).

If you have questions about fostering or would like to be a short-term foster (2 weeks), please email dog-foster-organizer@paw-rescue.org
Have a wonderful day!
Hello all. We moved to BaltCo from HoCo last year and this is the first time we are getting Turkey for Thanksgiving. I used Local meat markets and butchers in HoCo (like Boarmans in Clarksville or the Amish market in Laurel) and was curious if there were any places like that in or around the Parkville area to order Turkeys from? We have a large extended family and usually need something along the 22-24lb range which we usually cannot find at a supermarket. Thanks!
If you’re interested in throwing and running routes sometime lmk. My friends don’t play football so I’m looking for people to throw to
I am a little sad that my husband and I will be alone on thanksgiving this year, but it just occurred to me that rather than mope about it, it would be a great opportunity to volunteer at a shelter or somewhere giving out meals on the holiday. I live in cockeysville, do any of you have recommendations about places we might be able to volunteer on thanksgiving?
Just got a new kitten yesterday, 13 weeks old, having issues getting him to use the litter box as he would rather poop and pee in two different corners. Was wondering if there’s anyone in the area that specializes dealing with young kittens.
