Hey, I am a Freshman at Umbc entering the second semester now. I just dropped one of my course for another one, and I was wondering how long it takes for the blackboard to be updated, and is it okay to make schedule changes without talking to my advisor beforehand?
Hey yall, anybody taking bio 141? this my last resort fr😭🤷🏾♂️
Today I noticed a small stack of flyers for a crisis pregnancy center posted to a communal bulletin board. Please take them down if and when you see them, they will be offering help to pregnant women but their ultimate goal is to trick or pressure them into continuing an unwanted pregnancy. It can be incredibly cruel and traumatizing and they use a range of tactics, as you can see John Oliver explain here
I hate that I feel the need to say this but I'm not debating anyone about abortion in the comments, people have the right to bodily autonomy and making informed choices about their health.
I'm doing a 4th year waiver (graduating HS a year early). I've taken/am taking 2 APs and 5 DEs (2 in-person, 3 async); my current unweighted/weighted is 3.95/4.25. Regular decision, no LoRs, not a great essay tbf. I'm test optional. UMD rejected me...
What are my odds? The biggest thing scaring me is my math (only scheduled through Honors Algebra II; noted an intent to take CLEP Calculus in additional info).
Hey everyone, I’m preparing for an interview for CWIT and was wondering if anyone has tips on what to expect. Also, if you’ve been through the program (or are currently in it), I’d love to hear about your experience! Any insights would be really appreciated.
Thanks!
I recently got into UMBC as a highschool senior and was wondering if UMBC requires seniors to submit their mid-year grade reports.
So basically I applied to transfer to UMBC from HCC, and I'm currently in my final semester at HCC . It's just that I haven't heard anything back and I'm really nervous. I really messed up on choosing the topic for my application essay and I'm worried that it will sound absurd(for context, I chose to write about a short story I wrote for a creative writing class). I just see how competitive things can get and how many people apply to UMBC and I'm doubtful that I'll make it. I don't really know who to talk to about this because I just feel really intimidated and unsure of where to go from here.
I’m currently taking 285 with resta and I’m scared i might fail . Any advice
Hello! I recently applied to UMBC and it is my top pick for school but my main concern is accessibility. I am physically disabled (use crutches or a wheelchair) but i was wondering what people’s experiences with the school were
Limited availability for this Thursday (Feb 6) and Friday (Feb 7) only!
Hello! I'm the undergrad representative for the Visiting Artists and Designers committee, and we're currently looking to set up some events for the 2025-2026 academic year. Please fill out this form if you're interested in having any input on artists coming to visit and we'll do our best!
1 week into the Spring semester and they send the email for last Fall 🤓 no wonder they only send an email
With the 2025 F1 season just around the corner. I wanted to get a gauge on how many if any would be interested in a watch party/discussion group.
is anyone taking phil152 with andrew fyfe
Got rejected from UMD so I'm on my way to UMBC. Probably gonna try to transfer after a semester or a year. Glad to be here!
Forgot my wallet on the umbc downtown shuttle bus. How do I get it back? Is gone forever, I’m literally in tears right now.
Edit: I have frozen my card. I called the transit office they said the driver had my wallet and I can come pick it up today. (I’m at work so I’ll have to pick it up tomorrow). Thank you for all the comments
Edit#2: got my wallet back, I have ordered a new card ❤️
Hi everyone! Lab for Biol300L start next week. I tested positive for covid at the beginning of this week so I haven't been up to gear with everything given that I missed the first week of the semester. Biol300L requires a lab manual and I haven't gotten the chance to get it since I've been out sick. The day I am able to get back to school will be the day I have this lab which is also the day I can get the lab manual. Based on my experience with both gen chem and orgo labs, I'm honestly traumatized lol. I'm coming in here to ask for help on how to prepare for the first lab for this course when I don't have the lab manual and have no clue how to set up my lab notebook. Perhaps I'm overreacting but all is well. Covid sucks.
Hi all, currently a commuter but I'd really like to live in an apartment on campus next semester. If I understand the reslife page, the best way to do it is to apply to live with current residential students.
Info: I'm biologically female, generally quiet and tidy though I can tolerate mess, and I have 63 completed credits right now.
Anyone interested, know anyone who might be, or know where I could try to find someone who is? Please DM me or comment if so!
Have the CWIT Scholars and Cyber Scholars selection day invites been sent out yet? I'm seeing people mention getting the Meyerhoff Scholars invite but nothing about the other two.
Did anyone get a response back from Cyber Scholars yet? I applied as a incoming freshman by the Jan. 15 deadline and I've heard that the interviews are in February. Kinda got me stressed out that I haven't received anything yet
I know they’re new, and that it’s a commercial contractor that fixes them, but why the hell is this college incapable of keeping basic needs up and running for more than a week.
Does anyone happen to know how these apartments are? I got placed here. My roommates are not very communicative, so I am not sure what to expect. Any tips?
I’m in Patapsco West second floor and I have my heating set to 68 but it might as well be set to 80. It’s 79 degrees even with fans running. Is this normal or is my ac unit just fucked somehow? Does anyone else have this problem?
i got rejected from umd yesterday. i am already graduating hs with my associates so i dont qualify for mtap. ill transfer in after a semester or two at umbc.
go retrievers!
So I see online that for Gen Ed’s or classes that do not relate to your major , if you get a D in them at another Maryland institution you can still get the credits for it .
Is this case still true for current UMBC students ? Am not a transfer I just took a winter class at a community college. Over there a D is passing and I know UMBC has a pass/fail option where if you get a D ( in a Gen Ed class) and you chose the grading as pass/fail you can still get the credits .
Am just worried since the transfer verification form says you need a C . This class is a Gen Ed though
Hello there, I'm an international prospective student to UMBC this fall and wanted to get a rundown of the place. I couldn't find a lot on youtube so I'm here
I recently was rejected by UMD for electrical engineering but have now accepted my offer to UMBC for computer engineering as it’s the closest thing here to my preferred major.
Has anyone here done the switch or have any information on it because the UMD transfer FAQs are a little confusing.
