Anyone else feeling as though we have completely lost our way from a values (and many other) point of view? Who and what have we become? Anyone else feeling an existential threat to our democracy that will never get reversed because there isn’t the will of the people behind making sure there’s an adult in the room this time around??
Hi All!
Thanks for reading, I'm at my wits end here. I travel for work and was actually out of my 2 bedroom apartment for most of December (1st to 21st) and had the heat set to 50° just so the pipes wouldn't freeze. Just got my Bill for December and it's $550. 50% more than last year when I was home the whole month.
I called National Grid and they said they hiked the prices per therm from 0.3 to 0.8 November 1st and that there's nothing I can do about it. (Essentially eat shit go kick rocks). At this rate heat from November to March is going to cost me 4k for a small apartment. Looking for any help or advice anyone has to give.
Thanks in advance!
It’s time. Handled guns plenty in my life, thanks to dad having a rural upbringing and passing some of that experience on. Never owned one. Never thought I would need to, but here we are.
So - I know that I need to apply for a license, complete a safety course, but then what? How long does it take for a license to be approved, generally? What kind of handgun should I look to buy? Where should I buy it? Any recommendations on gun safes?
Anything else I should be thinking about?
Eversource & National Grid will have to raise their “supply” prices to insane levels following President Trump’s decision to impose a 25% tariff on Canadian imports. Electricity generated with natural gas will also cost more. These costs will be passed on to people are struggling to pay. We need to be calling our state reps, Senate, Congress, etc. https://www.forbes.com/sites/michaellynch/2025/01/24/tariffs-on-canadian-gas-could-be-costly-and-disruptive/
Hello,
I’m trying to buy a car and I am clueless about the process. It is a private sale with a guy I’ve known for a few years so I’m hoping I can somewhat trust him that it’s not a lemon. Anyways, I don’t know the process at all. I do want to get it inspected and looked at by a mechanic before I take it, but it’s not registered and doesn’t have plates. I know Mass is strict with this kinda thing and I don’t think it’d go well if I tried to just drive it with no plates to an inspection place. Does anyone here know the process on how to get it to an inspector / mechanic before I buy it if it isn’t registered to anyone and doesn’t have plates? Thank you

People who have ran for town elections, what is your go to location for gathering signatures on your nomination papers to get on the town election ballot.
I have seen some anxiety around recent police activity, especially regarding ICE, and I thought I would provide some information. Massachusetts police departments often don't issue body cameras and the situation is similar amongst federal police. Some folks have floated the idea of recording federal police. This is often called First Amendment Auditing and you can find info on that in sources 1,2, and 3. This could be done actively or passively, but be sure to follow the law and be safe. Security or Ring cameras can be useful in catching misconduct, but be sure to know the laws regarding such systems; there is some basic information in source 4 and 5.
Public record requests are another great tool to ensure accountability, sources 6 and 7 have some basic guides.
Does anyone else have trouble getting their ADHD medication in Massachusetts? I moved here in August 2024 and was unable to transfer my prescription from NJ to Massachusetts because I was told I needed a provider IN Massachusetts— okay fine. I get a provider in Massachusetts but they weren’t available for a month so I went one month without my meds that I need for my brain to function. I meet with my provider they send my prescription to the pharmacy everything is fine. But then I’m told I need to meet with my provider every month because it’s an ADHD medication which is a schedule II drug or something. I’ve been on ADHD meds since I’ve been 12, please keep this in mind, so why in the world do I need to verify I have adhd every month and pay $40 per visit and another $15 for my adhd meds, so that’s $55/month I’m required to pay— not to mention the week or so lull without my meds in between my monthly appointments. So every month I go at least a week without my medication, and I finally just got my med prescription again this month but I go to CVS and they said they are out and won’t receive shipment until a week. I’ve been off my meds now for 2 weeks because of how my appointment fell in the calendar, and on top of that CVS won’t transfer to another CVS that has them in stock because it is a schedule II drug so I need to call my provider and have them send it to a new pharmacy. This is ridiculous, a waste of money and a waste of time.
I’m literally in tears because I’ve been underperforming at work because I am on 54mg of concerta that I haven’t had for two weeks now and my performance has plummeted due to my inability to focus. I’m going to get fired if I don’t improve and I can’t improve without my medication, which I’m always guaranteed to not have at least one week out of the month. WHAT THE FUCK MASSACHUSETTS?! I thought this state was one of the top in the medical field.
Am I going about getting my meds the wrong way? I’ve called my legislator to complain but does anyone else have this problem?
Xfinity keeps jacking the rates up and now we are paying 100$ for 150 down and 15 up.
No verizon and the only alternative is 5G home internet
Anyone got good recommendations?

Eversource & National Grid have both raised their "delivery" prices to insane levels over the last few years. People are struggling to pay. We need to be calling our state reps, Senate, Congress, etc. These companies have a monopoly. It should be challenged in court and the companies broken up (or competition created and mandated by law).
If enough of us decide together to not pay our energy bills, the utilities will have no choice but to make concessions. The power is with the people. Let's not forget that.
Partner and I are looking to get one done, anyone you had a good experience with that you would recommend? How much did it cost? Thanks in advance!
