Way no. 2,394,390 MITM was understatedly unique, incredible and ahead of its time: I can’t think of a single show besides MITM including shows created and written by black people where white people, including the main characters, are portrayed largely as poor and stupid and all the black characters are wealthy, well spoken, sophisticated and educated. Race in fact isn’t even mentioned outside of a few deliberate jokes. Hal being the only white guy in a group of black friends is also unique, and it’s never directly talked about.
It isn’t unique however that it falsely focuses on and primarily portrays America, as almost every single show and in fact common discourse does, as basically a dual race nation (black and white).
If the family was truly drowning in debt, why didn’t they ever consider filing for bankruptcy? I know it really wouldn’t make for entertaining TV, but they’d probably be able to keep their house and car since they have dependent children. It’s not like the show would’ve taken a huge U-turn had they gone down that path.
Where did Francis hide the stash of Lois's jewelry?
The character, not the show to avoid any confusion.
It sucks that they dumbed down his character in the latter half of the show because (and this is probably an unpopular opinion but here it goes) Malcolm in seasons 1-2 was the best character and best member of the family hands down. His narration was witty and relatable, he was the voice of reason in a lot of situations, he played to his genius side while at the same time being a normal kid, and (unlike 4-7 Malcolm) he was willing to learn from his mistakes. While he was a narcissist even then, at least he was self-aware about it. Malcolm in the later seasons felt less unique and more of a Reese 2.0 but a bit smarter. What made Malcolm stood out in the earlier seasons is completely gone and given to Dewey. I'm not saying he should've been written as the second coming of Jesus or anything like that. I just hated the flanderization of his character.
I'm on my umpteenth rewatch and its such a pleasure watching Hal. He makes time to teach the kids skating (oh the drama), builds robots with them, takes them to watch car races and basically teaches them so much! He's also strict yet understanding enough. I'm curious if dads like him actually exist in real life and what's that upbringing like. Do these kids often end up being more street-smart?
My favourite episode as a
Too good
i discovered it when i was young when i walkef in on my dad watching it. from then we used to watch it ever dinner. Now im older i can safely i've rewatched it about 7 times.😭
In the few episodes we had Jamie as a toddler, he was another little devil. But I’m curious if the show has continued as he became a young kid to teenager to young adult, would he have stayed that way or, maybe with the older brothers out of the house (maybe besides Dewey) he would’ve been better off without their influence?
Is it me or Francis looks exactly like Hal?!
They did a great job, all the kids look like their parents.
Reese and Jamie look like their mother.
Francis like their father.
Malcolm kinda favors the mom but looks like both. Dewey favors the dad but looks like both.
Good job!
Somebody put a tourniquet on her neck!
