All about the classic 90s sitcom

Given the horrific way Phil Hartman died, I’ve noticed there’s an eerie number of times that Bill’s mortality is part of the plot.
There’s at least two subplots where someone, just in his head or otherwise, is planning to kill him.
And there’s a creepy amount of references to psychotic girlfriends trying and/or succeeding to cause him harm.
I don’t know why this hit me so clearly on my most recent re-watch.
For anyone who does the free NYT Wordle, today’s is for us 😉🎶
AI is no help and I can't find it online. Where does Jimmy say this famous line?
Have been rewatching Newsradio and noticed something funny. May 21, 1997 in season 3 on episode 24 titled "Space", (where we see a hypothetical episode showing what Newsradio would be like in the future, in space) there is a scene where Phil Hartman's "Bill" is using an electronic device that is supposed to be a future cigarette. Just thought it was funny they seemed to have the foresight in 1997 that smoking would somehow be different in the future and it's almost as if they predicted vaping would be a thing. Anyways, not really suggesting they invented the idea of an electronic cigarette, just a funny observation I realized today. 😜
I just finished season 5, and what a ride. Great sitcom. Can't believe I never new about it until now.
Now I am sad it ended. I need more episodes. Although season 4 and 5 were not a match for the first seasons. They got their moments.
So apparently, there was some huge clapback on Phil/Bill saying the "p word" on air, which led to the "Injury" episode getting delayed to a much later broadcast than originally intended. What's interesting is that I was just watching an episode of "The Faculty" -- an obscure, really enjoyable sitcom starring Meredith Baxter that was out around the same time (like 1996) and they used the "p word" several times in that show with no apparent problems.
Anyone got more info on this? Thanks!
I was just flipping past a trial on Court TV and this sweet little old lady on the witness stand said her closet was like Fibber McGee's... "if you open the closet door, you're liable to get hit in the head with somethin'."
I am really enjoying it. I am at S3 now, and tbh, I find that Beth's wardrobe in this season a little much odd. I am not from the US nor Europe, so was this ok to wear like that?
The Cane
Lisa: Uh well for the record, sir, we really do try to keep our personal and professional lives completely separate.
Mr. James: Yeah and I try to keep my dogs off the sofa
Stephen Root's delivery of this line will always make me laugh. He just drops it so casually and immediately moves on to the next thought. Comedy gold.
That is all
Been teaching my 6th grade daughter Bill Mcnealisms lately. The other day she told her teacher "Mighty oaks from tiny acorns grow." I told her the next thing to learn is "When life gives you lemons..."
The jump from the Pilot to the second episode is so jarring. I feel like they missed an opportunity to show Dave and Lisa first get to know each other and how they ended up hooking up. Episode 2 and it feels like they've been together for months.
One of the best episodes of the show and great writing overall .. 😃
Enjoying it thus far
