Amendment 2

https://ballotpedia.org/Kentucky_Constitutional_Amendment_2,_Allow_State_Funding_for_Non-Public_Education_Amendment_(2024)

Basically, as I read it, monies for public schools could also go to private schools if this amendment is approved. Since public schools are struggling and teachers pay out of pocket for their own supplies, I don't see how this is a good thing.

Missing Siberian Husky around Garland

Hello I'm asking for help in locating our lost Siberian Husky, Bear, who went missing near Garland Ave, Louisville. . He's a typical black and white husky with blue eyes. He got out when the electrician left the back gate open. Any info would be very much appreciated!

Edit: He's been found

New vehicle registration

Anyone who has purchased a new vehicle recently, how long did it take for you to receive your registration? The last vehicle I purchased I received it in about 2 weeks. This time it's been a month and still nothing. I seem to remember something about them taking longer now due to a change in KY's system? Trying to decide if I should start making calls as I only have less then a month left on the temp tags.

Vehicle title

I don’t know if this really belongs here but I don’t know where to start….

4 years ago my father co-signed on a car for me. I have made every payment and never missed one. I have been under his insurance since.

Just recently he finally got the title in the mail. I still owe on the car and his name is also still on the financing.

I’m moving to New York at the end of the year. The one thing really stressing me out is this car. I was told by state farm that I couldn’t be on my own insurance because his name is on the title. It says both of our names. Am I able to just go to the courthouse and have him sign off on the car to where it’s just my name even if I still owe on it and his name is also on the financing? Or would I have to refinance to where it’s just my name on the loan and then he can sign off on the car?

I’m just trying to figure it out because this is what a lady at state farm told me I would have to do. I don’t see why I can’t just leave the financing as it is and just have him take his name off the title and sign it over to me?

What do I do?

Eckert's Orchard or By-Water farms

My mother and I are planning to go to one of these this weekend. Which one do you think is better or worth going to. We went to Eckert's last year.

Things to do at Barren Lake State Park or Glasgow?

Going to be attending some training out at the Barren Lake state park Sat-Tues. and I noticed Glasgow is the closest city to it. Anything to do out there?

Any good dive bars punk/metal scene. Noteworthy things to see or enjoy? Maybe even some kind of event going on for the weekend.

Kentucky Net Profits

I just need some guidance. I started a small busniess last year and am a sole proprietor. I live in lex ky and called to see if I needed to renew my busniess license. The accountant told me in order to get a new one issued I would need to file a form for my Net profits. I just filed my federal and state taxes for my busniess with the irs. After going to the ky department of revenue website I'm very much confused on how to find or even file the Net profits form can anyone help me please this is all still so new to me thank you!

Wait what? Amendment 1

Oh wow. Have ya'll read the exact wording in proposed Amendment 1?

Is "Idiots and insane persons" really a legitimate legal definition? If so, what qualifications are there to have someone legally declared an idiot or insane person?

This seems super sketchy and sus to me.

Best Internet in KY?

Hey y'all! We just moved to the area not to long ago and our house we are currently in, doesn't have good Internet. We currently have Windstream but it always seems to go out even if the wind blows or small rain. We are looking into different options and came across two that might be better. First is Spectrum, which is still local if something were to go wrong. And the other is Starlink which from what I understand, you order and install yourself on the roof. Our neighbor suggested this one cuz they say it's the best and never goes out. I just wanted some options on what's a good Internet provider or any others people are using. Thanks 🙏

MMW: Bowling Green will exceed Lexington and Northern Kentucky in importance in 30 years

Not a troll post. I'm not from BG, but I'm impressed with the changes in their city and region in recent years.

My reasoning: The Bowling Green MSA (metropolitan statistical area, includes surrounding counties) might be considerably smaller now, but it's still growing by 6-7% or so every 4-5 years - comparable to fast-growing MSAs down south. It's already left Owensboro in the dust of the 2000s as being the 3rd-largest city and 4th-largest metro in the state. Whereas Lexington MSA is growing by only 1-2% every 4-5 years, and I imagine that Northern Kentucky (part of Cincinnati MSA) is growing similarly, given that only Boone County is the growth engine in NKY.

Furthermore, BG has proximity to Nashville, and its growing international airport and booming economy. It has its own airport which has offered commercial flights and is eager to do so again. It has a major tier-I public research university growing faster than UK and UofL, with a new but respectable grouping of doctoral and engineering programs.

BG has a fairly happening, historic central city, equipped with minor league baseball and a lot of shops and restaurants. It continues to cement its status as the manufacturing hub for the western 1/3 of Kentucky (and Blue Oval, if it ever gets off the ground and is successful, is only an hour away). It is a tourist hub with Mammoth Cave and 'Vettes nearby. They have an aggressive regional economic development program that arguably puts Louisville's, Lexington's and NKY's to shame.

I'll even take it a step further: Louisville's one of America's worst managed cities in 2024. They also don't tend to play nice with Southern Indiana and vice versa. Lexington is a much better run city and has improved nicely in recent years, but it has a bit of a "we've arrived" complex relative to the rest of the state. NKY cities can't even avoid catfights with each other, and sometimes Ohio leadership will engage in catfights back; other times, Ohio just ignores NKY because they can. BG doesn't deal with any similar issues, as far as I can tell.

I've also read that there are now ≈90 languages spoken in Warren County. I never would've guessed that.

Just my $.02, but I think I'm on to something.

Pikeville Work Trip by Myself

I'll be in Pikeville for a week or two next month for work. Do you have any advice for me on what I should be aware of? I'm assuming the area is mostly nice people.

Also, what are the best places to hang out and the best nature spots? Best food places would be great to know as well. Thanks :)

Kentucky is killing it musically

Has there ever been a time when so many awesome touring acts have originated from the Bluegrass? Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, My Morning Jacket, Knocked Loose, Cage The Elephant, all out on the road just crushing it. And I’m positive I’m leaving more out.

Homeowners insurance question

Hello all, I have homeowners insurance but today they are not open to make a claim or answer questions. Since I am in Kentucky and have damage from the storm yesterday, I am afraid it will be considered hurricane damage. Is there anyway to confirm what the damage will be considered since we are so far from the coast?

Thank you

Kentuckyisms

I’m a newcomer to Kentucky and I’ve heard some phrases that I have no clue what it means, so here’s one that made me lmao. WTH is Booger Light on a Juice Pole?
I just heard another, y’all know what a “Dog Trot “ is? It’s better than A two cunted cow pissing on a flat rock.

Everyone okay after Day 1 of Hurricane weather?

Just checking in from Jtown. Our house has 2 small trees downed. Lots of branches and crap thrown around. But family and animals are good. How's everyone else doing? You all good?

DMV gave me a temporary license with my last name spelled wrong

Moved from out of state and my last name is spelled wrong. Just one letter is off. Can I go to the dmv and get it fixed on the spot? Was planning on going to register my car. I am assuming I should wait to do that so the name on the title is not wrong?

Thank you for flashing me

I had the "pleasure" of driving across 5 counties today for work. I actually really appreciate everyone who flashed their lights at me to let me know there were hazards on the road ahead.
