Question about gene editing

I’m not very experienced with how any of this worked so i’m just trying to understand better, say a plant produces a compound in its fruit, and you find the part of the plant’s genome that encodes the creation of that compound, could you copy and paste it, so there’s multiple copies of that same genetic code in its genome so that it produces more of that compound?

Are there any non gmo fruits and vegetables left in grocery stores?

Where I live, Whole Foods sells only “yellow” potatoes, no Yukon Golds. Also “Orange” and “red” sweet potatoes, no named varieties. They stopped naming corn varieties a long time ago, but it seems that recently more stores have more generic produce. I have asked the produce department but they don’t know what kind of potatoes wthey sell. I do t know much about gmos. What do you think about gmo foods?

Survey on the publics perception of GMOs

Hello, I am a High School student who is currently conducting a study on how people outside the field an inside the field of biotechnology perceive GMOs as. If you would be so kind as to complete a simple form, I would be grateful. This form does not ask for any personal data just simple questions.

Here is the Link to the form: https://forms.gle/BscccyT9U9zyzfaK6

Survey on the Public's Perception of Genetically Modified Organisms

Hello, I am a high school student in need of responses for my google form for capstone research, please, if you have time, take part in my survey. Your response is anonymous and there is always an answer to not respond to an answer you are uncomfortable with.

Your support is greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to increase the amount of anthocyadins in a plant? Specifically blue ones like delphinidin and cyanidin

Blue roses and phalaenopsis orchids were made possible thanks to GMO, but their color are both more purple rather than blue, and I was wondering, would there be any way to make the pigment concentration higher?

Hi, is there any way to take negative geotropism out of a banana’s dna? If so, could it be added to other fruits?

Bananas have such an interesting shape, and banana shaped fruit could break the economy. Is there a way?

What are GMOs?

I learnt a lot about the science and biotech behind GMOs. I didn't know the bacteria they use to make GMO does a similar thing in nature! A decent intro video.

Non GMO nutritionists

Hey there just curious if there’s any good nutritionist or food coaches out there in Australia? Would like to try a more natural diet I do eat pretty well but have been learning a few things about natural non GMO foods and would like to give it a go but finding it hard to come across people who specialise in that

Is this a GMO Grape?

This is crazy, in all my life I’ve never seen a grape this size. So plump and round and delicious. The juices splattering across my face as I take my first bite. This cannot be real can it? Oh that’s right they injected it with their bioengineered pesticide juice.

Non-GMO claims

How can a company claim Non-GMO that uses product caught in the wild, i.e tuna?

With all the pollution and who knows what else that ends up in the ocean and in water in general how is it they can claim that the food is Non-GMO. I would want to believe that pretty much everything we put in our mouths has been at some point genetically modified from, albeit maybe not intentionally, its organic origins.

Does Bill Gates eat GMO food?

Does Bill Gates, and other wealthy people who support GMO foods actually eat it themselves? Shouldn't the fact that this guy bought over 200k acres of farmland, and is famous for expressing a desire for population control be a huge red flag for every American? Why let him, or any wealthy person do anything that can affect the health of millions of people?

Mexico’s set to ban non-GM white corn for food staples.

The growing dispute between the United States and Canada with Mexico raised the stakes again as Mexico’s President will sign an agreement requiring non-genetically modified (GM) corn. The announcement was made between tortilla makers and President AMLO, requiring non-GM white corn. The intention is to support domestic producers with little grown outside the country.

The United States and Canada have requested a consultation under the USMCA or new NAFTA. If an agreement is not reached within 75 days, a full trade dispute panel will need to decide the issue.

Mexico claims traces of GM material were discovered in white corn imported from South Africa, which has forced the latest crackdown. The United States grows less than 1 million tonnes of white corn.

Farmer survey participants

Hi everyone! I am a junior in high school who is currently taking AP research. For the class we have to find a gap in research and create our own research paper addressing it. My topic is about the extent to which the GMO industry affects farmers mental health. If you're willing to take this quick survey it would be a huge help to my research! Thank you so much!

dissertation survey request

Hi everyone, my name is Rachel and I am a final year Biochemistry major studying at the University of Manchester. As part of my final year project, I am focusing on the public opinion and trust on genetically modified crops.

The target audience is anyone and everyone, regardless of whether you have a scientific background or not. And any answers you put will remain confidential and anonymous.

If you have a spare 5-10 mins, I would really appreciate your time and effort. :)))

For my science assignment, please respond and give feedback!

So are GM foods safe? Well there are 2 ways to look at this question. Option 1 is to look at it from a societal view, that being will it harm humans if they ingest this modified food. The answer to this point of view is no, GM foods really won’t harm you if you eat them and you probably already eat GM foods and don’t know it. Now GM foods can cause allergic reactions more often than the regular ones but the Pros far outweigh the Cons. Now Option 2 is looking at it from the eyes of a farmer. GM crops tend to have a negative impact on soil health and crop diversity. One of the articles that came up during research had this to say about GM crops, “The use of some GM crops can have negative impacts on non-target organisms and on soil and water ecosystems. For example, the expansion of GM herbicide-tolerant corn and soy, which are twinned with herbicides, has destroyed much of the habitat of the monarch butterfly in North America.” Whilst not being completely environmentally friendly it is still a great alternative to help with the growing hunger demands.

for a school assignment (interaction encouraged)

While somewhat controversial, genetically modified food is easy to defend as safe and necessary. Thanks to GM foods we can defend against insects give more yield, produce foods with more vitamins or make them baron, and so on. While some possible risks with these modifications are easily mitigated by careful farming and safety-regulated labeling allowing people to know any risks involved in your food which is little. The official FDA website, it states that all food sold to consumers is perfectly safe to consume and necessary for the food to survive longer and healthier. Though cross-breeding them could lead to unwanted modifications more learned farmers separate the crops enough to avoid this easily. For a long time, we've been modifying our foods by crossbreeding crops and now it's been made easier by genetic modification yet it's seen as more threatening since it seems less natural. The FDA assures the safety of any crop for consumption.
