I believe in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words but of deeds - achievements won by the present and past generations of agriculturists; in the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come to us from the struggles of former years.

I believe that to live and work on a good farm, or to be engaged in other agricultural pursuits, is pleasant as well as challenging; for I know the joys and discomforts of agricultural life and hold an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I cannot deny.

I believe in leadership from ourselves and respect from others. I believe in my own ability to work efficiently and think clearly, with such knowledge and skill as I can secure, and in the ability of progressive agriculturists to serve our own and the public interest in producing and marketing the product of our toil.

I believe in less dependence on begging and more power in bargaining; in the life abundant and enough honest wealth to help make it so--for others as well as myself; in less need for charity and more of it when needed; in being happy myself and playing square with those whose happiness depends upon me.

I believe that American agriculture can and will hold true to the best traditions of our national life and that I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task.

Round Robin Questions

Hello everyone, this is my Daughter's first year showing a large animal (showed chickens for 2 years). She won Supreme Champion Goat and took 2nd in showmanship. The person who won Goat Showmanship also won Pig Showmanship, therefore, my Daughter is now in the round Robin for showmanship. She doesn't have any experience in Steer, Pig, Lamb, or Dairy Cow (only categories this year + goat). She has had practice with lamb, steer, a little pig practice, but no Dairy Cow practice since being told she was in the Round Robin. I want to give her an chance to win so I am asking you all, what are some questions do the Judges ask you for each animal. She is in the Round Robin tomorrow.

Any resources you could point me too would be very beneficial.

Thank you.

Earned and Productively Invested

If a requirement for a degree (the American degree) requires a combination of hours *3.56 and earnings/productive investments totaling to 10k, does it mean that my earnings + hours can be 10k or that I need to productively invest those earnings to have them count?

Additionally, what counts as productively investing? If I use my earnings to pay off my car or pay tuition, is that productively investing?

Anyone know Ag Sales products?

I’m trying to find examples of products you might sell to a judge for the Agriculture Sales CDE. It’s summer right now, so I don’t want to bother my AG teacher and I’m completely new to this CDE. Anyone got any clue on if you choose your own items or if they have products given to you? And what the products could be?

Any information about this CDE general would be helpful :)

Official Dress Question

Im going to my states convention, and I was wondering about facial piercings. I have a septum piercing and plan to get other facial piercing in the future. Would I have to get small clear plugs for the piercings to wear for convention or could I wear simple jewelry in them (no spikes, plain silver).

EDIT: I have made it to the state convention and have had no issues with the piercing!! A bit surprising as I live in a more conservative state but good news nonetheless :) and have had no issues with unnaturally dyed hair (blue&purple)

State Officer Question?

A little background -

I am the current treasurer of my ffa chapter. I hope to be Vice Pres next year due to the other people running for pres it wouldn't make sense for me to run against them (they would also do a good job!). The Advisor's DAUGHTER is also running for the position of Vice. Do I take the chance and try to beat her, or do I stick with treasurer? The daughter doesn't come to school often, she's not even a good leader. But I feel the advisor would give her the position because she's her daughter.

What would make sense for me to try and run for VP or keep my role and run again for treasurer?

Also, what would look better for state officer quest!

First year raising a Lamb

This is my first year raising a lamb and I know very little about what i’m doing. My parents pushed me to do this and I don’t want to feel needy to my teacher so i’m looking for some advice. I want to know the process and what i should be doing day to day for my lamb. Of course i’m feeding her and replacing her water every day and cleaning her enclosure when needed.

Cattle advice pls 🙏

I have a couple of bottle calfs that I'm working with but I keep running into one issue. I have 4 bottle calfs shared among me and my sister. I have 2 young ones, and 2 older ones. One of my younger one is named baby britches She always seems to get sick somehow. When I got her and her sister they had scour. We treated it, then my other and older bottle calf got it, we treated it. They all have been doing fine for awhile but i went to go feed this morning and baby britches seems sick yet again, she is covered in her own poop, didn't finish her bottle, and she just seemed so tired. I dont know what im doing worng. I've noticed that they have a fare amount of ticks on them. I'm not sure what to do about that, we tried this one thing that was like $60 and it worked for a little but I think we need to reapply. I just need any advice, I want to be able to give them the best life they can and I'm scared I may not be able to. If anyone has any product suggestions or advice I'd greatly appreciate it.

Is FFA LGBT+ inclusive?

I have been thinking about social transitioning (FTM) But I have been hesitant to, I love being apart of the program and has had an amazing time there but I'm concerned coming out may affect my time here. I know many who are members are Christians and may not be accepting of such things. I'm just wanting to know if it would be better to stay in the closet until high-school finished.
