Energy - in physics, is a property of objects which can be transferred to other objects or converted into different forms, but cannot be created or destroyed. The "ability of a system to perform work" is a common description, but it is difficult to give one single comprehensive definition of energy because of its many forms. For instance, in SI units, energy is measured in joules, and one joule is defined "mechanically", being the energy transferred to an object by the mechanical work of moving it a distance of 1 metre against a force of 1 newton. However, there are many other definitions of energy, depending on the context, such as thermal energy, radiant energy, electromagnetic, nuclear, etc., where definitions are derived that are the most convenient. Wikipedia: energy

Electrical Energy - the energy newly derived from electric potential energy or concretic energy. When loosely used to describe energy absorbed or delivered by an electrical circuit (for example, one provided by an electric power utility) "electrical energy" talks about energy which has been converted from electrical potential energy. This energy is supplied by the combination of electric current and electrical potential that is delivered by the circuit. At the point that this electrical potential energy has been converted to another type of energy, it ceases to be electrical potential energy. Thus, all electrical energy is potential energy before it is delivered to the end-use. Once converted from potential energy, electrical energy can always be called another type of energy (heat, light, motion, etc.). Wiikipedia: Electrical energy

Suriname is gaining access to cutting-edge technologies and expertise, bolstering its green energy credentials.

Suriname is charting a course towards a green energy future, with ambitions to harness its abundant wind and solar resources for hydrogen production. This pivot to renewable energy is part of a broader commitment to sustainable development, with the nation seeking to establish itself as a significant player in the global green energy market. Through strategic international partnerships, Suriname is gaining access to cutting-edge technologies and expertise, bolstering its green energy credentials.

The focus on hydrogen production from renewable sources represents a transformative shift for Suriname’s energy sector. Recognizing the pivotal role of clean energy in combating climate change,

Suriname is investing in infrastructure and technology that will enable it to produce hydrogen efficiently and sustainably. This move aligns with global efforts to transition away from fossil fuels and positions Suriname as a potential leader in renewable energy within the region.

Suriname’s green energy initiatives are a testament to the country’s proactive approach to environmental challenges. By embracing renewable energy and seeking international collaboration, Suriname is not only working towards energy independence but also contributing to the global fight against climate change. The nation’s efforts to create a resilient and sustainable energy system are paving the way for a future where economic growth and environmental health go hand in hand.

Suriname is advancing its renewable energy sector with a focus on green hydrogen*, a clean alternative to fossil fuels.*

The country is exploring the use of its natural resources, such as wind and solar power, to produce hydrogen.

This effort is supported by international partnerships, which provide technical expertise and investment. Suriname’s renewable energy projects, including off-grid solutions in rural areas, are part of a broader strategy to create a sustainable and resilient energy system.

Guyana, too, is making significant progress in renewable energy.

The country has expanded solar energy access*,*

installing solar home systems and mini-grids to provide reliable power to local communities.

These initiatives are part of Guyana’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainable economic growth. The expansion of solar power is complemented by investments in solar farms and battery energy storage systems*, which aim to reduce CO2 emissions and enhance the national energy matrix.*

Both countries are exploring the potential for green hydrogen production and export, recognizing its role in the global transition to sustainable energy economies. While current export figures are modest, the intention to integrate green hydrogen into their energy portfolios indicates a forward-looking approach.

Suriname and Guyana’s efforts in renewable energy development not only contribute to their own energy independence but also position them as emerging leaders in the global renewable energy sector.
