If you could make an original Power Rangers team or story that’s NOT already based on Super Sentai or existing Power Rangers stories, what would you do?
What’s the theme?
Who are the characters?
Where is the setting?
What are the weapons?
What are the powers?
What are the Zords based on?
Who’s the mentor?
Who’s the ally?
Who’s the villain?
What are the stakes?
You don’t have to answer ALL of these questions.
Toei and/or Bandai could create a crossover comic book/manga where Mighty Morphin meets the Zyurangers where Zordon and Barza explain the multiverse and Zed leave Rita for Bandora. Perhaps cameos from other past and future teams from both series, like the Gorengers and King-Ohgers.
It's a therapeutic gyro ball for training hand and wrist strength but I could not unsee the similarities! Lol

There are so many shots of Naoto from Timeranger that are used for Eric despite them being perfectly able to film their own shots. It's weird yet kinda cool how if you'd only seen Time Force, you'd have never known.
It actually reminds me of L.A. Heat, a 90s cop show. It lifted car chase footage from movies by the same company producing the show.
To the point that you'd have one of the protagonist, Chase, often dressing up like a character from the source material since his pale skin and blonde hair made him a good body double for Gary Daniels for instance.

Editors are really unsung when it comes to television and film production, aren't they?
My 5 yr old is OBSESSED with Power Rangers. He knows the name of every ranger, megazord, etc from every version. The kid introduced himself to the pharmacist as Jason. 🙃
He's asking for Dino Chargers for Christmas! All I'm seeing is the Japanese version on eBay. Is there a difference and is there anywhere else I can get them? Please help! 🥲
The backstory is inspired by Nightmare 5 Dream Child Kimberly gets pregnant with Tommy’s baby. Lord Zedd and Rita (this would be around season 3) hearing this decide to curse the baby as Kimberly starts feeling pain, Zedd and Rita having turned her baby into a dragon which they hope will come out and destroy the rangers As the rangers face off a monster led by Goldar, Kimberly stays in the command center as Alpha delivers the baby for Kimberly The baby comes out and he looks like a little gremlin. But while clearly looking like trouble the baby dragon is sweet and Kimberly takes a liking to him. Naming him Dragster Throughout the season, Dragster is there for comic relief. Him and Alpha being a duo. Kimberly hiding him from the public, kinda being sad about it because she wants him to have a normal childhood but is scared everyone will be scared of him When Kimberly leaves the show, so does Dragster. Deciding to finally reveal her identity as a ranger and Dragster to the world Throughout Zeo, Dragster makes cameos. Spending some day with Tommy if we’re still gonna go with Kimberly and Tommy being broken up. Kimberly having full time custody Dragster wouldn’t be seen for a good few seasons until Megaforce. Basically filling up the role of Troy or a sixth ranger, either one of the two would do. Where it’s revealed Zordon’s Energy rave turned him human in In Space If anyone else has better ideas of how his role could go, please let me know
Can we talk about how when every power rangers season would end, the prices of everything in that season would rise like their ancient?? Cuz I remember when Ninja Steel was over, and Beast Morphers had started, those prices of everything Ninja Steel arose higher than the Beast Morphers merchandise itself (when it was out). Then when Beast Morphers ended, the same thing happened when Dino Fury came out. That's just something I thought about and noticed in the past no deal though. Just something that came to mind.
I like to think ninjor made the power coins out of ninja steel, no real basis it just feels right to me
Introduction;
It's no secret that Samurai and Super Samurai are considered controversial among the fandom. And it's easy to see why; half the episodes are badly translated adaptations from the Sentai, the cultural values from Shinkenger aren't handled well in translation, they went too heavy-handed with writing the show for little kids, it toned down several monsters for little to no reason, Kevin's acting is hilariously awful (even by Power Rangers standards), Mentor Ji is the embodiment of Wasted Potential, Mike is a douchebag and Lauren really should have been treated better.
With the help of hindsight, however, I began to appreciate Power Rangers Samurai & Super Samurai for what they were trying to be; despite being rushed in production, on paper, making it a sort-of spiritual successor to Mighty Morphin' is not a bad idea. And some episodes hold up surprisingly well; like He Ain't Heavy Metal (please watch with headphones and pretend they're playing 'Confusion' by The Creeps), Jayden's duel with Deker, the episode where Emily loses her soul (one of the best character focus episodes in the franchise) and Serrator's storyline being shockingly good TV.
First Change:
Make Lauren the Red Samurai Ranger from the start. Lauren's inclusion - however brief - felt like a breath of fresh air. We've gender-swapped male rangers before, but this would've been the first time we had a female Red Ranger. The difference? Lauren is carrying on her father's name, not just as a Ranger, but as a leader.
The storyline would be in her favour, letting us see how she overworks herself in being the head of a Household AND a field leader, before realising that it's okay to reach out and ask for help.
It would also lead to her coming out of her shell, bonding with her Retainers while becoming more open and honest about how she feels. Sometimes, it may result in situations where she puts her foot in her mouth, but she still learns from that.
And it gives little girls someone they can root for, while teaching little boys that it's okay to ask for help.
Second Change:
Make Spike the Blue Samurai Ranger. For two reasons.
The first reason is because the Sentai footage kinda suits him. He's the youngest and the least experienced, so while he trains himself the hardest, he's prone to making mistakes on the field. But as he gains more confidence in himself, thanks to his friends' support and his Uncle Bulk's guidance, he improves drastically as a result.
The second reason ties in with Emily's background; like her, he grew up living under the shadow of his parents. His dad is a successful pianist who tours the world, and his mother is a talented athlete. He couldn't live up to either; he wasn't the smartest or the most physically fit, but he always sought to make his parents proud by trying the hardest. Then he reveals why he became a Retainer; it's because his mother was initially chosen. But the day before the Summons came, she suffered a debilitating injury that hospitalised her. His father dropped everything to support her. Realising he had to step up, Spike ran away from home, taking the Summons arrow with him to Stone Canyon. From here, we have two tonal paths.
If we're being comedic, this sets up a running gag where Skull frequently calls his son on the Samuraiser, worried about his kid for various reasons. Did Spike have breakfast today? Did he remember to bring his sunscreen? Is he hurt? Is Uncle Bulk feeding him right? Etcetera.
It also means we can slot Bulk in with any of the Blue-focused episodes. Need a Fisherman to help find the Swordfish Zord? Cue Uncle Bulk. Need a mentor figure who drops by to offer unconventional advice? Uncle Bulk. Need the Brown Samurai Ranger for a comedic filler episode? Uncle Bulk to the rescue!
If we want to be serious, we could do an episode where his mother shows up and tells him to hand over his Samuraiser; she won't sit by the sidelines and let him put himself in danger for her sake. Then, when she sees how hard he trains and how seriously he takes his duties, she has second thoughts. Finally, when she watches him fend off a Nighlok long enough for the others to arrive, she lets him have it back. He morphs and joins in the fight; then, the episode ends with the two parting on good terms, his mom telling him just how proud they are.
Guess which previous Ranger from Angel Grove also wielded a bow? And think about the episode where Adam fought alongside Carlos in Always A Chance, but as the culmination of Spike's growth AND a treat for older fans. Oh yeah, it's coming together.
Third Change:
Make JAYDEN the Green Samurai Ranger. If we wanted to go full ham with the MMPR 2.0 route, Jayden being the Green Ranger would work perfectly fine. He'd initially be introduced as one of the four Retainers, not really expressing himself that much. There'd be hints of familial resentment, but he'd put them aside to help out whenever he could.
But when Lauren slips up in the field and calls him brother, that's when the cracks show.
Because now Jayden's status not only paints a target on his back, pushing their relationship to its' breaking point, but it would lead to them arguing a lot more. From Jayden's perspective, Lauren isn't treating him like an equal. Instead, she still sees him as her kid brother, which affects how the others treat him. Leading to him acting out. From Lauren's perspective, Jayden is the only family she has left, and it breaks her heart having to pull him aside every time he questions her leadership.
And then Antonio shows up, which opens up a rift in the team. More and more powerful Nighloks are coming, and with them, more innocent people are getting hurt as the Rangers endure more defeats. Even when Antonio tries his best to mend the rift, he is still Jayden's friend.
Fed up with their lack of progress, Jayden pushes harder and harder for a more proactive stance, insisting that the Nighloks won't wait for them to get better; they have to strike back harder. Lauren calls him out as a reckless ingrate, spitting on everything their father taught them. This splits up the team on horrible terms, leaving them divided on two different fronts. Before Jayden sees Lauren get injured by Deker. He decides to intervene, taking up her Samuraiser and fighting tooth and nail until Lauren is taken back to the House.
It's when they're at the House, that he immediately opens up in front of everyone; he had never realised how much she cared for him until now, and his impatience almost cost him the only family he has left. Then, relinquishing the Red Samuraiser to Lauren, he renews his vow of retainership and promises to always have her back.
Conclusion:
While I don't think any of these ideas are objectively better than what we got, I'm still really proud of how much thought I've put into this little hypothetical. Samurai as a season is decent, if very flawed, but I think it definitely had the potential to shine brighter than ever. Both as a standalone entry and as a reintroduction to the brand for fans of all ages.
Thank you for reading.
Dark Spectre really didn’t do anything. His whole thing was like I kidnapped Zordan orchestrated this entire plan and was it who is basically about to get killed by two people under him. Then Miratrix she like fake-dated one of the Rangers or something. It was either the black guy or the Asian guy I can’t remember. I think to steal his jewel and them kamdor showed up and he really didn’t do anything and then she had that weird ass bird form Then she got trapped in a jewel and probably died
With the variety that Gundam model kits offer, I would love to see some high grade and master grade style model kits of various popular megazords from over the years. Feels like something Ban-Dai / Namco could license with, just me wishing for this?
Hey guys
I introduced my Fiancé to the show with Chase into space as I didn’t think MMPR would be a good jump off point. Long story short she absolutely loves the show (In Space & Time force being highlights in particular)
Currently on Wild Force and with forever Red then Dino Thunder coming up I’ve realised that episode and DT as a season would be enjoyed better with the backstory. Watched some early MMPR but to line things up I’m going to need to do a condensed list, however I wasn’t massive on Zeo or early turbo as a kid. Just wanting peoples opinions on this list and if anything has been missed (for context we’ve watched the MMPR movie as I had to show her the greatness of Ivan Ooze)
Green with evil
Gung ho
The green candle
Return of an old friend
Green no more
White light
Return of the green ranger
A ranger catastrophe
Turbo movie
Passing the torch
Thanks guys :)
Alright yall thanks for following my journey. That was a joke. I doubt anyone actually cares but just wanted to update yall. I’ve officially finished Samurai and Super Samurai. Mike was easily the least cringe out of the entire cast. Definitely my favorite character in the series. Great character development as well. As many of you warned me though, the acting did NOT get better. Jayden is probably the only exception to that statement and it’s only because he wasn’t as bland and dry as he was in Samurai. Still not that great in Super Samurai but just a tad better acting. Underwhelming ending for sure. The sister plot twist was cool but expected more. Onto Megaforce 😬 Anything I should be prepared for? (Aside from the bad acting)🤣
If its the early MMPR days, Japanese footage. Later Saban years, I think they're more equal but I love how much clearer and colorful the american footage looks with the california background so maybe that one.
Sorry for the length, but this is my first full post. The title pretty much says it all but allow me to explain. When Tommy first joined the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as the Green Ranger Zordon said: "We're watching history in the making Alpha. The prophecy has been fulfilled. The Sixth Ranger is now one of us." This means that Zordon already knew Tommy would join as it had already been foretold, perhaps by the Morphin Masters or some other group. This leaves me to wonder what other events in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were foretold in prophecies? Zordon always seemed to know for the most part what would happen before it happened. Perhaps because as an inter dimensional space wizard he was familiar with ancient prophecies related to the Power Rangers. What if these prophecies also foretold the destruction of the Green Ranger's powers, the creation of the White Ranger's powers, and the departure of three of the original five Rangers. If this is the case Zordon's decision to promote Tommy to the leader of the Power Rangers when he was made the White Ranger make more sense. Before I give my reasoning I will note that IRL the reason for this is that Austin St. John, Walter Emanuel Jones, and Thuy Trang already left the show and the show's writers didn't want a rookie Ranger taking over and with their characters being reduced to stock footage and obvious dubbing the dialogue promoting Tommy was added in post production. In-universe it kind of makes sense to promote Tommy early so he could grow into his leadership role by the time the three Rangers left as Tommy was neither the team's leader nor its second-in-command prior to this even if he did have leadership potential. With Jason and Zack still on the team Tommy could still turn to them for leadership advice (offscreen). Zordon might not be able to know in advance which three Rangers would be leaving but he would have to operate under the assumption that the team's leader Jason and second-in-command Zack would be among the three and make leadership changes accordingly. If either stayed and wanted to be the team's leader then the matter could be worked out (notice when Jason returns during Zeo he makes a point of telling Tommy that he doesn't plan on taking over the team's leadership again and that while leaving was a tough decision what made it cool was that he knew that the team was in good hands with Tommy as it's leader). Notice that Jason and Zack had already proven on a number of occasions to be a capable leader and second-in-command, respectively, and it would have been disrespectful to demote them them to second-in-command and ordinary Ranger, respectively, without a good reason. As it stands both at the time didn't seem their demotions (again this is largely because the dialogue promoting Tommy was added in afterwards) and just seemed happy to have their friend back on the team. It's also possible that Zordon, while still trying to keep the creation of the White Ranger a secret, may have clued Jason and Zack in on enough information on his plans that they knew enough in advance not to be surprised by Tommy's promotion over them.
End results from a photoshoot done with DJDave at NYCC this year. Wanted to get some action shots, knees and backs were blown to get this to come to fruition.
What ranger villain do you think you could argue was actually a good person? Or misunderstood? I think I could make arguments for a few, like Ransik and Poisandra maybe.
