The Guyver itself is a symbiotic techno-organic (or biomechanical) device that enhances the capabilities of its host. The manga was originally serialized in Tokuma Shoten's Shōnen Captain magazine beginning in 1985. When Shōnen Captain was discontinued in 1997, the manga was picked up by Kadokawa Shoten who subsequently re-released all of the previous graphic novels originally published by Tokuma. The manga is currently serialized in Kadokawa's monthly Shōnen Ace magazine. It has been licensed by Viz Media, Star Comics and Chuang Yi Publishing.

I asked the all knowing AI who was the superior sybiotic organism; Guyver or Venom.
The Guyver Unit and the Venom Symbiote are both powerful symbiotic organisms, but their superiority depends on specific criteria:
Winner: Guyver – It has built-in weapons and superior destructive power.
Winner: Venom Symbiote – Its sentience and adaptability give it an advantage.
Winner: Venom Symbiote – Greater regeneration without a single point of failure like the Guyver’s Control Medal.
Winner: Guyver – It has fewer exploitable weaknesses.
Final Verdict: The Guyver Unit is superior in raw power and weaponry, while the Venom Symbiote is better in adaptability and survivability. In a direct fight, the Guyver would likely win, but in a long-term evolutionary battle, the Venom Symbiote might outlast it.
So I'm running a D&D game that will eventually work around creatures from the far realm l, and who best to represent that? A lot of Aberrations are effectively aliens, the Daelkyr have a big founding zoalord vibes, there are the symbionts and other living armors that work like a bad version of the guyver.
The group will be heading into a cave system and I have a bunch of pictures of different cave paintings that tell the story of the Chaotic Era where the far realm overlords tried to claim the planet. This is where I for some reason can't find a single screen grab of cave paintings and the only copy of Guyver 2 I own is the VHS, so I can't grab a proper shot to edit.
If anyone can post the cave paintings, as many of them as possible I'd super appreciate it. For any D&D folk I can post the home brew Guyver Unit magic item when I finish building them as compensation
Sho uses Guyver.
Sean uses Guyver, well, Sean was supposed to be Sho.
Agito has been shown to use Guyver and Bio-Boost.
Lisker has been shown to use Guyver and Adapt.
Crane uses Bio-Morph.
My word of transformation would be Transform. Like, "Henshin." but in English.
Although, I feel like you don't really need a word to call the Guyver. Based on Sho not being able to call the Guyver after he killed his dad, I think the Guyver responds to emotions. That also prevent the Guyver from accidently being summoned every time you say Guyver. So in a theory, you simply need to let the Guyver know you want to summon it through your emotion and don't actually really need to say anything to summon it.
If your friend dies and the Guyver clones him, would you still treat him the same?
I can't do that. Because he isn't my friend who died. He's a clone. He's another person. If my friend were alive, there would be two of them. If they fuse, like what happened with Clone Sho and Arm Sho, then that's fine. So the clone is not my friend who died. To treat the clone as my friend who died would be to disrespect my friend who died and not acknowledge that he ever existed. I'll accept the clone as a friend but he's a new friend and not my old friend. I'll probably create a grave for my old friend to acknowledge that he ever existed.
So every time I look at Sho and Sean, I say they're not the originals. They're clones. The originals are dead.
13 episodes with some cool enemy designs and an angsty bishounen protagonist and big power ups... Being a fan of Guyver since 1995, I had to recommend this as I've checked it out a bit recently. Enjoy!
Because you REALLY should.
Published shortly after Guyver and only a 4 volume run. Sadly it was unfinished but it gives a solid enough ending point.
It’s a bit grizzly in parts, and there’s far more character development and adult themes than Guyver but otherwise it’s a very similar premise. Teenage dude transforms into battle armour, fights evil mega corporation. I don’t want to spoil it by saying anymore.
If you love Guyver, then this is the next best thing (some may even prefer it).
Just wondering what are some good Alien/sci-fi figures that people set up with their Guyver.
Does anyone here have the elite creature collectibles bust my light up function stopped working. Only been used a handful of times just wondering if anyone knows of a fix or how to contact ecc to get any help or info on how to fix the issue?
Guyver wall scroll I received the other day.
I posted a a while back the Guyver unit pendant I made from sterling silver, here's the updated version
Hey r/Guyver
I am kind of amazed there is a subreddit for the guyver manga, but I figured you guys would find this really cool if you are in the area!
In San Diego, CA, there will be a screening of The Guyver 1991 in theaters with a virtual Q&A with the producer Brian Yuzna after!. I know many of you may not be in San Diego, but I hope that maybe even one of you will find this kickass and be able to go and see it!
Apologizes if this is not allowed here, just wanted to share an awesome rare screening of The Guyver next week 1/15/25!! Tickets are on sale already and you can find them on this link here (With links to regal and fandango!) You can get tickets with regal unlimited as well if you have that. Have a good one guys!
I imagine he tastes like crab mixed with pork
He is based out of the UK and is a total scammer. He is under the name Tonyarcher2024 in this group. He changes his name often since he has scammed so many people.
When I reached out to him on making a Guyver figure he said he could do it in a couple months.
As time went on the updates came in less often. I constantly asked for an update, but never received anything substantial.
Looking into his practices, I stumbled across a group of people that were scammed by him on Facebook. Instead of continuing his work, Tony asked me why did I join a group? I’ll let him know why does that matter. I didn’t say anything negative about you. I just want to know why this project that I paid in full was taking so long. This has happened to other people if they have created a group dedicated solely to your negative practices.
Ultimately, he got upset by this and instead of returning my money or sending the item I paid for has kept the figure and told me so in various emails.
I am wondering if the owners of the IP would be quick to shut down any attempt at fans drawing and authoring their own manga/comic based on the Guyver. Would they be chill if each publishing was accompanied with a disclaimer that “it is a fan project, please support the official release” type of thing?
Because I am sure many of us are in the mindset of “fine I’ll do it myself”.
I mean I can’t be the only one who wants to adapt the situation that the Guyver presents into a contemporary story right?
Edit as of 01/02/2024: so far I have seen some say go for it and some say don’t do it. The “don’t do it” side seem to reference making money/profiting from doing this fan project.
Does it simply mean that i receive money or valuable items or services for the efforts or is simply growing an audience for the fan project fall into this category as well?
Also would the earlier mentioned disclaimer including a blurb on this being a nonprofit project aid me at all?
Did they mean he went berserk or did they mean he was out of "their" control?
