We will be spending this weekend in Honolulu to celebrate my friend's bachelorette! I’ve put together a nice itinerary but would love some suggestions for breakfast/brunch, dinner, and bars!
For brunch/breakfast, we’re looking for: a lively vibe, ideally with live music, and a great view! For dinner/bars: We only have time to catch the sunset from a restaurant on one day, so after that, the view might not be as important. Instead, we’re looking for places with a great vibe and music, where people start dancing as well!
Here are the spots I’ve shortlisted:
Let me know if you have any tips or insights about these places. I haven’t been to any of them personally — I’m just going off recommendations from Reddit and Google searches!
Does anybody know of any golf courses in honolulu / oahu area that do twosome exclusive rates? I am planning on proposing to my GF and would like it to just be us two! (Will also take photographer recommendations for a phot shoot after proposing!)
Staying in Waikiki this month looking for recommendations on restaurants for 10+ people. Thank you in advance
Another unit facing west got mold. My unit faces mauka and two buildings act like a wind, noise and salt funnel into L Shape windows and lanai facing diamond head. What type of things do you use or do that helps keep moisture out but still need fresh air. Two ac are dirty on outside, clean inside but don’t trust them to use. There are ceiling fans I’ll use. Unit is 600 sq ft. and the inside wall moisture 10 percent and want to keep it down because I have mold toxicity and allergy.
Got offered a position in Honolulu, I work in healthcare. My partner will be coming with. We were thinking about renting a furnished place to start, I’m familiar with furnished finder as I was a travel healthcare worker, and rent furnished while we look at apartments to rent eventually but was curious how it is buying furniture there? Are there cheaper furniture stores options for when we eventually get an apt? Do you have recommendations for other furnished units or sites to find them? Thanks
Almost every package will say "out for delivery" then never get delivered. The next day, I'll get the same notification, and one time I even tracked the Amazon delivery van and watched it drive by my building multiple times. I'm fine waiting for deliveries but why say it's out for delivery if it's not going to arrive until a day or two later? Also, what kind of wacky route has a driver pass a delivery building multiple times, just to circle back eventually at the end of the route?
Update: a delivery was attempted today but said "there was a problem and we'll try again tomorrow." The routing may have been an Amazon issue but this was definitely on the driver. My building has 24/7 security to allow deliveries and USPS/UPS never have issues. Don't think I'll be ordering from Amazon anymore if this is going to keep happening.
I’m going to be moving to Honolulu for University and probably living in a dorm which is very close to the school but plan on doing things off campus often. I wonder how people get around the island and what would be best for me. Do you think I should sell my car and buy another one once I get there or buy an E bike or take public transportation or just walk? I would like to keep things as cheap as possible but as efficient as possible. I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon so I want to know what’s best in the long by run (I can always buy a car later as well). Thank you!!!
Background: I’ll be on the island for 10 days in November visiting a friend who works here. Based on the south end. While he is at his job, I’ll be left to my own devices during the day. I grew up saltwater sport fishing in Florida and brought my 5k spinning reel with me.
Every spot around me on Google maps looks fishy, but wanted to see if anyone has good recommendations!
Hello I've been offered the opportunity to move to my company's Honolulu branch and I'd love to just jump at the opportunity but I'm a little hesitant about the insane cost of living increase.
My new position would means I'd be making around $55,000 a year which while is a significant increase from my current pay, from all of my research doesn't seem like a lot in Honolulu. My company has also said they'd assist with moving costs but they haven't said much more than that.
I've been thinking a lot about moving, as I've only ever lived in one state my entire life and I really want to see other parts of the country and what life is like there but I can't just throw financial stability to the wind to do it lol.
Just wanted to hear if people think this is doable and just hear from any Hawaii natives/transplants about life there and what to expect etc.
Where's the best/cheapest place to buy bottles of liquor around downtown/Chinatown. Something with a bit of variety.
Hoping to go to a place where I can try furniture before buying it. Ideally used to save some money
Is there a good big liquor store that sells a variety of alcohol bottles around downtown/Chinatown that is relatively cheap?
I, the childless aunty, foolishly assumed I could just walk into a store and pick one up but Walmart and Target are both sold out. I need one by Saturday for a 7 year old keikikane. Where can I buy one right away and which character would be the best choice? Mahalo in advance!
If this is not appropriate please ignore. I have to attend a conference in Waikiki in January and am learning about Hawaii before my trip. I watched this video: https://youtu.be/pAFdLaW02jw?si=hgzjm53ob3PvqYer and felt quite moved about the local people and the situation that they face. I have also been looking at hotel prices for my stay and they are insane. I’d rather, if I can, use my money in a way that would benefit people from Hawaii more directly than giving it to a large corporation. Are there any options for me to do this?
Hi there
We're tourists and wanting to know where we can find Make America Great Again merchandise?
Any advice would be much 👏
Hi DJs!
Where I can play on CDJs with a mixer in Honolulu?
Don’t we have a state law banning dogs from most of our popular beaches? My dad and I swim out to the flag at Kaimanas everyday since I was able to do it. I never remember seeing so many dogs and dog shit. But that’s not even the worst part….
The other day (weeks ago) I watched a tourist absolutely berate the life guard because he wouldn’t let her tie her dog up to the life guard tower. (They use the back side to prep patients for EMS so they need that area clear not to mention the shade the tower casts). The life guard was very nice the first two times, just explaining to her why they need that area clear. The third time he wasn’t mean but he wasn’t nice, lets call it stern. I personally would not have as much patience and restraint that he demonstrated. The italian women kept screaming about how she was just one girl while there are three “male” life guards asking her to move. Then she started screaming about how this wasn’t the “aloha spirit”. Anyway, it wasn’t great and it was starting to get heated to I called hpd. She was gone before they got there.
All of this could have been avoided if we just followed our laws about dogs & beaches. There are beaches where dogs are allowed. What gives?
Hello! I have never visited Ohau. We currently have resos in Feb for HHV however after seeing so many mixed reviews second guessing myself. Looking for beach front hotel family friendly. Suggestions?
Hello hello from San Diego!
Girlfriend and I are going to visit Oahu for 5 nights in about a month. We both recently turned 21 and have been really into night life. Was wondering if there were any night clubs/venue that play 2010s - recent pop music and/or edm in Honolulu?
Open to suggestions for other things to do Honolulu at night too, thank you!
Hello, does anyone know a place that is hiring undocumented workers in Oahu. I am currently adjusting my immigration status but it’s gonna take a year or two, in the meanwhile I want to start working. Any suggestions?. I’m 20 years old, and have done plumbing for 2 years. I am open to anything that’s available
