I am currently in Hiroshima and was wondering if there is a possibility to attend a live music performance at e.g. a jazz café. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I found some venues on Google listed as "live music venue" that are open tonight but don't list any performances for tonight, do they still have non-concert live music?
Sorry for the short notice and thank you in advance!
Hi folks!
Just wanted to get advise on my waiting time for COE. It’s been almost 2 months. And a month ago, they requested for an additional document which I submitted right away. Y’all think Im near the end of waiting? 😂 It’s not like I’m feeling impatient but if it’s gonna take awhile, I got some travel plans to do in while I wait! Im just scared that when I do travel, thats when it comes. So please, let me know how you stayed sane while waiting. 🥲
For the past 30 minutes there is an alarm going off with what sounds like in English “go home”. Anyone know what this is about?
I'll be in Hiroshima in October this year. I'm a beginner dancer (1.5yrs)and I'm interested in taking a class while I'm there. I'm interested in Open Style (formerly Urban), Jazz or Contemporary.
Hi all,
My partner and I have just arrived in Japan and it's so far a lot more rainy than we had planned - whoops.
We are in Hiroshima for the next 4 nights and have no idea what to do - obviously we have the parks, museums, memorial, and a daytrip to Miyajima planned. But since it's raining so much, our idea of chilling in the parks etc for the rest of the time is now a bust.
Does anyone have recommendations for Hiroshima on a rainy day? Any good cafes and restaurants would also be amazing!
Hello, I am interning in Higashi Hiroshima this summer from mid June to late July and I am looking for a short term apartment in the area. I read that it is possible to get a short term apartment with a tourist visa, but the university where I am in turning told me that I would have to set up a japanese bank account and, have a residency card to be able to do that. From what I researched, you just need someone fluent in Japanese to speak to them on your behalf, but some places do speak English. I have a basic knowledge of Japanese and I’m really trying to find accommodations with the full kitchen , and none of the campus affiliated options have that . I was told that a real estate agent or a local would be able to help, however, I would really appreciate it if anyone could just share a short term rental company that they know of in Hiroshima that I can look into. Just trying to get the right info here because I have a feeling they just want me to spend my money paying rent with them
We are currently staying in Hiroshima and sirens and alerts are going off. I can’t hear other residents moving around or exiting. Does anyone know what this might be?
Hi Everyone,
I'll be visiting Japan over April/May and as I'm a big football fan I'd like to watch a game. The fixture which best lines up with my itinerary is Sanfrecce Hiroshima vs Nagoya on 6th May.
I'm trying to find out how to purchase a ticket in advance but I'm struggling does anyone have a link to best place to purchase?
Many thanks
I went to Nagarekawacho yesterday evening to have a look around and damn was it overwhelming. Does anybody have recommendations for nightclubs or bars in Hiroshima? It doesn't have to be around Nagarekawacho. Thanks!
I'm planning for a trip coming 8-18 May 2024, likely based in Hakata, with plans to travel the various cities using the Kyushu JR rail pass (Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Beppu, Sasebo, etc). But i'm wondering if it will be worth taking a day trip to Hiroshima since I don't foresee myself specially flying there / Osaka in the near future.
So far, I think the main consideration is that the shinkansen from Hakata to Hiroshima isn't covered by the Kyushu JR pass, and the shinkansen ride each way is at least 2 hours each way, so I might need to turn it into a 2D1N trip to get the most out of it.
Would appreciate any other comments on this [:
Does anyone know where to get them? I’ve gone to 3 different stores downtown Hiroshima and they’re all sold out. Does anyone have a spare that I can buy???
Hi everyone we will be traveling to Hiroshima and will be staying overnight. Does anyone know how much it cost to park my car for 24hr? I’m planning to stay by the center area.
Hey everyone
Moving to Hiroshima and wanted to ask ideas for part time jobs that accepts foreigners? I only know basic Japanese.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good eyeglass shops?
I need to get my eyes checked and some new glasses, but I really hate getting my eyes examined.
Hi guys, do you know of a nice gym to work out at in or near Gion? I also like to do mountain biking. Is there any trails or area you recommend? Thanks a lot :-)
Hello!
I will be moving to Japan for about 5 months on a working holiday visa, starting with 5 weeks in Tokyo before moving to Hiroshima for 7 weeks to work and live at a hostel in Naka ward.
When I get to Hiroshima, I will submit a moving in notification and listing the hostel as my residence. However, when my 7 weeks are up, I'll be traveling Japan for 3 weeks without a fixed address and then heading back home to Canada. Does anybody know what I would do on my moving out notification in this instance? I can't find any information online and apparently it varies by prefecture and ward.
Would I just tell the ward office I'm returning to Canada in 3 weeks and won't have an address?
Hello, I am about to move to a new place next week and I don’t know which service is best to use. I dont have a lot of stuff to bring with me because I have to leave the appliances in the current apartment since this is company subsidized housing.
For context, I have a 32L large luggage, 1 Guitar hardcase with a guitar in it, another guitar on a softcase, and a bass guitar. As for appliances I have small ones - a mini coffee maker, toaster oven, electric kettle, electric blanket, vacuum cleaner, and a small 4 layer kitchen rack. The rest will be in medium sized boxes, about 4 pieces.
What are your recommendations? If I use a taxi, do taxis allow large luggages? If this is possible, I might take about 2 taxi rides from my old place to the new one. Or, if you know a service that’s not too expensive, like a small moving van, I think that would be best.
Thank you in advance.
PS: I’ve seen some rent-a-car service where you can rent a mini truck for a small move. I dont know how to drive, unfortunately.
Not arriving until July, but I wanted to plan ahead. What is the easiest way to get from the airport to Peace Memorial? My hotel is near Peace Memorial and I can walk from there to the hotel. Thank you!
I’ve been working in an international kindergarten for the longest time and I see no growth professionally in this area as the company itself is not thinking about it as much. I initially started from and ESL school so I wanted to go back.
I am trying to find an interior/art shop I visited near Hondori a few years ago. If was a very creative and somewhat disorganised shop with handmade, used and creative items like chairs, lamps and mirrors. Does anyone know what the name and address could be?
Hello! Back in July my boyfriend and I were travelling in Japan and we made a day trip to Hiroshima, on our way out we purchased a small box of momiji manju from the shinkansen station for a snack and my boyfriend loved it, he couldn't stop talking about it and we were devastated to realise that we could not find any for sale outside of Hiroshima, much less outside Japan. I am looking for someone to help ship a box of momiji manju to Singapore in time for his birthday in March. I will pay you for the purchase and shipping fee. Please let me know if you would be willing to help me, and thank you!
Hi dear Redditors !I'm planning to do Hiroshima > Tokyo by bike in April, I'm coming from France with all my bike equipments.. excepting my bike because I can't carry it as a checked luggage :-)
I'm looking to buy or rent a bike there, which I will use 22 days for around 900km, coming back to Hiroshima by train, then cleaning, returning or selling the bike before my departure !
Do you know cheap places to do such things, do you have any tips, or somebody that would be interested in the process ?
Thanks a lot and I can't wait to visit Hiroshima !!
Hello there, I’m in Hiroshima for the weekend and I’m wondering if some of you would have recommendations for underground bars/clubs where some interesting people would be ? I read that Hiroshima was a pretty big drum n bass spot at some point. Is that still the case and if so where should I go to find that scene ?
Many thanks
Fellow redditors, where can I buy a hipot tester in Hiroshima??? I assume any electrical test equipment store would have them available, I haven’t had much luck finding any store online.
