The Haʻikū Stairs, also known as the Stairway to Heaven or Haʻikū Ladder, is a steep hiking trail on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaii. The total 3,922 steps span along Oahu's Ko'olau mountain range. "Haiku" does not refer to the Japanese poetry genre. The area is named "Haʻikū" after the Kahili flower.

This is for everyone out there that is thinking about hiking Stairway to Heaven(Haiku Stairs).
As of September 3rd 2024, There is police stationed at the bottom, and also stationed at the bottleneck so there’s no possible way to make it to the top even if you by pass them at the bottom.
After speaking with them today, They are there 24/7 because some sections have been removed and due to safety concerns they have to provide around the clock patrol to ensure nobody goes up in case something happens.
Save yourself being arrested, $1000 fine and wasted time trekking through the forest, it’s just not doable anymore.
Many people have been arrested over the last 4 months and maybe they just didn’t ask the question the people I knew who were caught today did.
Police presence is there and will not be going away anytime soon.
Climbed it about 10 years ago. Sad to hear they plan to take it down.
