Aloha and welcome to /r/Oahu, the gathering place on Reddit. Our sheltered harbor is a place for anything local, like news, pics, sports, events or just stop by, talk story. It's not a place for stink eye or downvote menehunes.
Oʻahu, known as "The Gathering Place", is the third-largest of the Hawaiian Islands.

Can one take a SUP over there and check it out or is it restricted access? I see there is a small beach on it.
Where? And is this a thing?
Had a blast.
I know this is a silly question but the amount and variety of bananas that grow here is profound so I’m wondering if people know where to get good bananas that aren’t the boring cavendish bananas. I’ve been to Kuilima Farm Stand and always have luck getting the apple bananas and ice cream bananas but I’m wanting to try all the different varieties I can. I’m willing to go anywhere on island so location doesn’t matter. Preferably local businesses if possible. Also if anyone knows where to get other cool fruits and veggies in general, I am very interested.
Thanks!
Got two different set of scratches on my Tacoma, one on the hood and one on the front bumper. The paint isn’t that scratched but it’s enough to be noticeable. What’s a good body shop that can fix it relatively fast or cheap around Salt Lake/Aiea area?
Visiting the island for a little would love any recommendations on anything I should do or see in the small time zone. I’ll be staying at the Sheraton Waikiki.
Mahalo!
Hi, I'm here on vacation with my partner and their family who has pretty much ditched me and am basically solo now 🙃 I could really use a good ocean plunge somewhere off shore to cleanse my spirit. Id love to take a boat and jump off and swim around. Maybe see dolphins? I'm really out of my element here. where do I reliably look for something like this that's legit, and also good for a solo person who has no car? I'm staying at a hotel that has a lagoon that's crowded, murky and devoid of life and it makes me sad. The hotel excursions are all booked out. I'm sorry for the dumb question, I'm just new to all this (don't get to travel much) and having a tough time. Any suggestions are so appreciated :)
Have a new neighbor who runs a business that modifies houses (windows, counter tops, etc). His employees are working on the house he just bought. It has become a daily occurrence that he yells at his pregnant wife over how the house will be set up or verbally abuses employees.
Him yelling at his wife I can handle on my own or call the police station down the way if it escalates. But is there an administrative branch for housing that can be tipped on how he is verbally abusing his employees?
His employees will defend their work but he keeps berating until they yield and apologize, and then he just keeps going. He'll shame them and embarrass them in front of others. It's disgusting behavior.
I'm looking at luaus in Oahu and finding that most, if not all of them are not operative on Saturdays. Just super curious if anyone knows what the reason is. Thanks!
Hello,
I watch to watch the Australian A-League at 6pm tonight.
Any recommendations on which venue may be showing it?
Thanks!
Hello,
Does anybody know where near Waikiki I can watch the game at 6pm tonight, please?
Anybody else having this problem? All of a sudden amazon is taking two weeks to send me my packages, but if I change my address to a little bit down the road it comes in 4 days. I know shipping stuff to Hawaii takes time but why if I live on north shore they don't even put it in the mail for a week and a half? Where if I lived in Ewa Beach they mail it the next day?
Was thinking about doing the Triple Ridge Trail but have heard it may be closed. Has anyone done it recently?
In North Shore for 3 weeks, curious what the most cost effective solution would be to get a good board. Ideally it would work with my taking the bus to Waimea area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I lived in Waikiki from 2016-2018 and I frequented a small Italian restaurant located in what seemed to be an old house. It was in the Waikiki/ diamond head area.
Can anybody help me out, what was the name of it and is it still open?
The owner worked there and usually had a small Italian car parked outside.
Help i’m stressed lol
I noticed many of the historically designated homes in Manoa have chimneys and was wondering the reason for them. I can’t imagine them being to heat a room. Maybe it’s for the kitchen? I’ve never been in one of these homes so I’m just curious.
Mahalo! Awaiting a build permit via the DPP is a long and arduous process and I’ve learned so much reading others’ threads on the topic. I am awaiting a building permit myself, and all boxes are checked with one exception: the board of water supply. I am so thrilled with having only one reviewer left, but our permit has been with them for months. I was thinking, be patient, let them do their job, but it’s crickets. Our rep at the DPP and our architect both say the timeline, well, it’s now the water board’s timeline, this part of the process is a black hole. I want to just call, or something, but I’ve come this far (!) and I don’t want to do something that will further delay. Anyone have any experience with them? Tips? Mahalo!
Howzit every buddy. Haven’t been here in about 11 years. What’s to do here while I’m in town? Here till the 5th. Love the markets shopping and hiking. Would love recommendations on what you love to do and what’s happening this week.
A friend of mine has asked me to bring back some cookies from my vacation. Any suggestions on places?
Aloha! We’re new to Mililani. We’ve got a energetic kid who’s excited about going trick and treating on Halloween. Anyone’s got recs for the best neighborhoods and/or spots for trick and treating? Mahalo!
I'm looking for a bodyshop to do a repair on a 2004 Audi A4. I pulled up too far in a parking space and the concrete stop thing pulled the front bumper loose on both sides of the grill. I've called around and haven't had much luck. I'm just trying to get it fixed enough to be safe to drive, not look pristine. I appreciate any help offered.
I haven't been able to find good, fresh soft serve. I'm not looking for something that tastes overly processed like mcdonalds. I haven't been able to find something on par with a lot of places off island. Please post your recs! Preferably something with a good vanilla/chocolate.
Trying to plan a date night with the hubby and we both loooove sushi. We haven’t been to much sushi places on the island, but I’d love to hear some of your favorite sushi places / recommendations!
