Anyone flown a321 neo and a330 AND Dreamliner yet?

If you have flown all three, which is your favorite as far as comfort and less turbulence in the sky from Hawaii to the mainland? Mahalo.

Carry-on question flying Hawaiian airlines but operated by JetBlue

I have an upcoming flight booked through Hawaiian Airlines from HNL to JFK with the final leg of the trip operated by JetBlue. My question is since HA allows a free carry-on, would the same policy apply to the JetBlue leg? I know JetBlue’s basic fare does not allow for a free carry-on.

Thanks!

Flight crew numbers?

My family and I are going to be flying on Hawaiian airlines both ways on our vacation. It's a significant milestone event and we want to celebrate with everyone we come in contact with. We are going to be bringing gift bags for all of the crew and wanted to know how many Including flight, attendants, pilots, and anyone else on board working, there will be so we know how many gift bags spring both ways. Also, how many gate attendance can we expect? We are bringing a large handful of five dollar Dunkin' Donuts gift cards just to cover everybody we can.

CANT CHANGE SEATS ANYMORE

So the days of being able to change or select your seats at check in are over. I can’t believe this bullshit. I was “upgraded” my husband was not and now checking in online I’m not able to move back next to him. A phone call to customer service and I’m told they “upgraded” their system and now any changes within 24 hours are handled in person at the airport. What kind of 1980’s bull crap is this? I selected my seat for a reason, they move me and now I have to hope the seat next to my dh is open so I can move back. Hawaiian you are really sucking now. Delays, inferior product, grouchy FA’s, soggy hot pockets, $200 interislands, omg now you taken away a benefit from us. Cmon Alaska! Where you at SWA?

How long have these airport kiosks been down?

On May 3, I took a flight and the kiosks were not printing our bag tags. The line to guest services was ridiculously long because everybody was having the same problem. On May 10, the same problem occurs again at another airport. Seems like this is happening everywhere, to everyone. Just wanted to let you know in case you have a trip coming up soon.

And of course the chat help employees through the Hawaiian Airlines are no help. Plan ahead!

Earning Miles

Hi everyone. I have a question about earning miles. I couldn’t find the answer on Hawaiian’s website. I have a Hawaiian mileage account. I will be booking a flight for myself and 5 family members in the same transaction. Can I get the points for all of the tickets or am I limited to earning miles for my seat only?

Any Advice ?

last year, I signed up for the Hawaiian miles credit card. The credit card and airline were running a promotion that if you signed up, you got a 50% off companion code, which means when you buy two round-trip tickets one is 50% off. I booked my ticket via the airline and realized they forgot to take 50% off one of the tickets. When I call the airline immediately after realizing this mistake, they told me unfortunately because I paid in full. There was nothing they could do to reimburse me half of one of the tickets, but would, send me a 50% off code for my next flight. I found this to be more than I found this to be fair and excepted that resolution. A year later, I am booking a flight to Hawaii for my honeymoon. My fiancé used our travel miles for one ticket and we decided that for the other ticket we would use the 50% off coupon. when I went to book, it would not let me use the coupon and when I called, I was told because they gave me another companion code. I went back-and-forth with the airline and told them I already met the terms for their companion code, which they failed to give me and I was told I would be getting a code for half off my next flight, not my companions. all of the customer service agents were completely useless, and all they had to say was that they are unwilling to honor what they originally offered. All I am asking for is what is mine, what they failed to award me in the first place. I can’t seem to get a hold of anyone in the US and I am running out of time to book my ticket. Any suggestions ! I have had nothing but unpleasant experiences with this airline and will definitely never be flying again with them after this.

Delta will give Hawaiian some competition on direct route from Boston to Honolulu starting 11/21/024

I love flying Hawaiian but I also love a little friendly competition to keep prices competitive. I have already seen some great price dips on delta if you’re a price watcher like myself.

Question about redeeming HawaiianMiles, and discounted award tickets for Pualani Gold

I have Pualani Gold. Yesterday I tried to buy a one way fare from Hawaii to the Mainland using miles on the website. It showed an advertised fare of 20,000 miles. The website wouldn't let me complete the transaction.

I called customer service, and when they checked, they saw that the fare price was 17,500 miles. Customer service was able to redeem the miles for me.

I realized at this point, that the website was not showing the discounted award ticket price.

As it shows on this page that fares priced at 20,000 miles should be discounted to 17,500 for Pualani Gold.

https://hawaiianair.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2218/~/hawaiianmiles-award-chart

Is this a temporary glitch with Hawaiian Airlines' website? Or, do I need to call in to get the discounted award fares?

Sitting at OGG for seven hours while they “fix” the plane.

Flight 32 OGG to Las Vegas. Supposed to take off at 2:20 pm. New time 4:30, new time 5:30 new time 9:00. WTF is wrong with these people? All we got was a 20 dollar meal voucher. Ya know the last time I flew them was 20 years ago. Thought they might have their shit together but nope. Back 20 years ago they stranded us in 17 hours in LA. Nothing has changed. Never again. Next time I won’t even consider this broke dick airline. I’ll take a real airline that actually fixes their planes at a timely manner Fuck Hawaiian 🌺

Also, will my AirPods connect to their entertainment system? What if I bring a Bluetooth jack? Thank you! Getting mixed answers from previous research.

Issues paying online with American Express Cards beginning with 34xx?

Is anyone experiencing any issues paying for your reservation online with an AMEX card starting with the numbers 34xx? I have been unable to book flights using one of my American Express cards ever since I got it.

One thing i also noticed is that when I save this particular AMEX as a payment method in my profile, it shows up as a Diner's Club card. This doesn't happen with my other AMEX card that start with the traditional AMEX numbers beginning with 37xx.

I thought it may have been an issue with my card number, so AMEX replaced my card with a completely different card number starting with 34xx, and the same issue happens.

Paying over the phone with a reservations rep always works, so I am thinking their online payment system isn't recognizing the new AMEX numbers starting with 34xx. Very annoying that I have to call in every time I need to make a reservation, but I am curious if this is happening to anyone else.

Buddy Pass/Staff > Pualani Elite

Do anyone else find it kind of unfair that if there are open first class/business class seats available that it goes to standby-buddy pass/employees flying who just pay taxes and fees and not the Pualani elite revenue paying customers. I recently went on a flight and there were 6 business class seats available and they were all on the standby list that were almost 26 people to japan. All of them got premium seats + extra comfort.

While even with pualani platinum they have you go through soo many hoops and almost difficulty using the certificates for first class/business class, but so easily with standby staff who are traveling for leisure.

Spoke with another traveler who frequents traveling to japan to teach hula and she expressed the same as well about how the airlines don't really value customers even their frequent loyal ones unless you are an employee. Kudos I guess that the staff gets treated well, but leaving the loyal travelers on their airlines who bring revenue to the company underwhelmed and just flying because they are left without choice to destinations where most people from hawaii fly.

Hawaiian CC 50% off discount

Hello my wife recently got the Hawaiian CC.

How do we take advantage of the 50% off companion award? I know it only works for mainland to Hawaii but does it also include first class?

I don’t see it on the website anywhere and I feel like I have to book it through calling customer service. And when I do, do I pay in full and get credited the 50% off at a later date?

Thanks for your help!

Well, that was fun

Yesterday morning, after much looking, I went to book our trip from AUS-HNL. From my previous searches, I knew they only flew this route on Mondays and Thursdays, and only returned on Wednesdays and Sundays; all other days in the search calendar are disabled. However, when I finally went to book, this had inverted, and now Sundays and Wednesdays were the only days enabled for the outbound, and vice versa for the return. That would be fine, but when you search on those enabled days, there are no flight results. I manually typed in the date for Monday and forced the search, and voila, there was the flight. I booked it, and called HA to upgrade with miles.

About 6 hours later, I logged into "My Trips" just to gawk at my reservation, I guess, and I noticed it was missing. No matter, let me look it up by the confirmation code. No such reservation. I texted HA and was informed that somehow, the previous agent neglected to ticket my upgrade, so the system auto-canceled the whole reservation, and now the flight was "sold out." Uh... it was only half full a few hours ago? Did all of the 49ers book the remaining seats? Worse yet, they couldn't find the 150,000 miles I had used for the upgrade. I was asked to call in and request a supervisor.

While I awaited a supervisor, I had a hunch, and went back on HA's booking search. This time, when I used the new enabled days, there was a flight result (at a different time, too). It became apparent that they must have been rolling out a schedule change yesterday, and somehow the web team made their change before the actual schedule/backend change was complete. I got my supervisor, who was equally as perplexed as the text agent, saying that the flight had been canceled. At this point, I revealed my hypothesis, she did some checking, and said I was right.

Supervisor was ultimately able to locate my money and my points, void the old reservation out, redeposit everything to my account, and stayed with me while I rebooked the new dates, then executed my miles upgrade. The bittersweet upside to this is that the new flights had cheaper, Saver upgrades available, so I ended up with miles leftover (I had transferred in exactly what I needed from AmEx). I was able to salvage these by getting a convertible for our 3 days on the Big Island.

Not exactly how I wanted to spend my Friday night, but seems to be fixed now - unless they make another change in the next few months (I hear the AUS-HNL route is volatile), and as frustrating as the issue was, all of the agents were unexpectedly kind, understanding, and helpful - a lost skill in today's customer service. The IT consultant in me wanted to ask for the CIO's number because it looks like this was all caused by a wildly uncoordinated change - even if I was kinda breaking stuff to make my reservation (but hey, my forcible search showed a flight that, at that time, existed).

Anyway, if I still have any of you after all of that, do I get a free checked bag if I upgraded with miles? My ticket says 0PC, so I don't know if the miles upgrade only gets me Fisher Price First Class and I still gotta pay for my bags.

Hawaiian Airline A330 (thoughts on Row 30A & B?)

How bad are these seats in Row 30 A&B on the Airbus 330? We have never been seated near the restroom before but people have mentioned that it can be annoying with the flush noise and the line. Would Row 20 middle row be better?

Also is it worth upgrading for Leg Comfort? My partner is 6’4 and he is worried that it might not be enough leg room for him. Thank you in advance!

Redemption chart not lining up?

I have never flown HA, and am looking at burning some AmEx rewards points we have by transferring them to Hawaiian Miles and then booking a first class trip from AUS to HNL. However, Hawaiian's award chart says this should be 110k miles each, but searching the flight shows 135-160k. I don't see any comments on the award chart about it being subject to availability, and I'm looking on dates where the cash fare would be pretty discounted.

Am I reading this wrong or is the helpdesk article outdated?

Do I pick up luggage during a 7 hour layover?

My husband and I are flying round trip between Vegas and Tokyo. We have layovers in Honolulu, the return trip layover being 7 and a half hours. I’m anticipating a lot of luggage after buying souvenirs. Do we pick up luggage between flights? Also, Would you risk leaving the airport during a 7 hour layover? We land around 8 and the next flight leaves around 3. Thanks for your help! First time flying internationally.

First Class Seats

I'm new with First Class, won a seat by bidding the minimum amount for my trip to Vegas from Kahului. Does anyone have insight on which seat would be better? I'm leaning towards the last row, but I'm wondering if the recline feature is affected at all by the back wall. It's an Airbus A321 for reference. Any help would be appreciated 😃
