I want to build a new pc (for gaming, work and coding) as mines old, but im on a bit of a budget, i think i can go up to 1500$ max, wanna know what are some good options as i have been out of the loop for a while Or maybe i should even just try to swap some parts of my current pc
Does anyone know a software or a trick for customized keyboard shortcuts? I work a remote job where I frequently use a lot of the same sentences. For example lets say I have a sentence like "patient did not have symptoms" and I wanted to create a shortcut where typing SHIFT + M + N makes that sentence pop up. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.
If possible, make it just one example in which you incorporate everything. Thanks in advance!
Edit: Include ROM too
I need your help. I need to build a pc where I'll use 3 4k monitor and will run 24 hrs.
Help! my laptop lags (browsing chrome) when unplugged. whats the reason? how to fix it? thanks
Hello everyone,
I'm currently in France and I'm wondering if it's possible to order computers from Iran to have them delivered to France. I've heard that computers might be cheaper in Iran, and I'm interested in exploring this option to save some money. Do you know of any computer sellers in Iran that offer international shipping? If so, what are your experiences with these sellers? Do you have any recommendations or tips to share for someone looking to purchase computers from Iran to France? Thanks in advance for your help!
Almost all of my college work happens on a few programs.
Microsoft office, zotero, microsoft teams, and google chrome. I don't think I've ever used anything else in the 3 years I've been taking classes.
I'm a biochem major so most of my work doesn't happen on stuff that needs high powered creative software like Davinci Resolve or photoshop so my current laptop is overpowered and I'd like a cheaper school-oriented replacement, but the market is always changing and I'm not really a computer-science kinda guy. I know my way around computers more than most, but I'm pretty ignorant about a lot of it too.
Anyway, I'm just looking for a laptop in the $100-$400 range that I can order online. I just need it to be reasonably quick and be able to handle a few programs open at the same time (word, excel, zotero, and chrome mostly)
So for context my windows 10 pc , when booted , shows a black screen with only cursor on it and nothing else , task manager and the windows setting which you get by pressing Ctrl + alt+ del is also working and I have searched a lot on how to resolve this but it refuses to budge . (1) I have tried restore point but it says that we cannot restore , a problem has occurred 2) it won't let me uninstall either the quality update or the features one , it just says that it ran into a problem 3) when I boot into the safe mode and right click on the start button ( the windows icon ) it won't function but when I left click it , it shows option like usual ( commond prompt, power shell etc.) 4) when I try to open settings then it won't open through the usual way , i have to first do the 3rd step ( which i mentioned above) and then I can open settings and that's it , in the settings, if i try to open anything then it will close the settings.
Please suggest me a way through which I can solve it . It would mean a lot if you can help in anyway , thanks
Any recent changes:- i downloaded chrome and made it the default browser , also there was a system update but it cannot complete, i don't know why .
Woke up today with windows stuck in Preparing Automatic Repair bootloop.
Then used a live-mode Ubuntu USB stick, tried installing on some unallocated space, and gparted failed to write.
Digging in further, found a `Critical Warning 00x8` in smart logs.
Now how does this look like? Is it really bricked and should be replaced?
I'm concerned about the power cycles, unsafe shutdown and reads/writes, and of course the critical warning 00x8 itself.
Hello, something I’ve been wondering is the possibility of integrating a PC into a canbus system of a car to allow the addition of features. On tiktok and youtube there is this british man that integrates a PC into the canbus system of his older Mercedes so he can have a computer in his car while obtaining OEM functions of the original headunit and better control of sound quality for speakers. His @ on YT and TT is @RAND_ASH
In my case, this would be cool since it would allow me to have custom built on-screen controls for various aftermarket controllers for items such as aftermarket heated seats, aftermarket massagers, 360 cameras, ambient lighting, electric windup shades, rear entertainment, enhanced sound system etc… Otherwise, each of these systems will have separate remotes scattered everywhere and it would be a nightmare to control easily/pair it up & figure out where to wire everything so it controls what when.
I guess i’m more asking not whether it’s possible but rather what issues you think will pop up/who would be knowledgeable in these types of things? (Computer science majors, computer repair shops, West coast customs type places, etc…)
Thanks!
Whenever I stop any audio from playing on my pc, around half a second later I hear the faintest sound from my headphones that sounds like a bird chirp or laser of some sort. It does it every time I stop any audio or when an audio finishes playing, and only plays it exactly once right after.
This probably sounds very odd but I was wondering what is causing that. No, its not a problem (in fact I don't even notice it because of how darn faint it is), but I was really curious. It isn't specific to my headphones either, its an output from my pc.
Does anyone know what this strange line could be? Currently the computer screen is frozen and the line is there.
reposting my question from another subreddit.
would appreciate your opinions. i have data spread between 3 or 4 2.5inch hdd and sata ssd, totaling around 1.25 TB disk space (actual data much less) repurposed from old handmedown laptops over the past 10 years. i use a sata to usb external enclosure/adaptor to share between these storages. my main computer is an older laptop.
i want to consolidate the data using either an external bay with multi-slots for my existing hhd/ssd, or shell out for a new 1 tb+ external ssd storage. really abhor generating e-waste, which is why i am pondering what seems like an insignificant purchase to some. at the same time i dont know how much life is left in 10 yr old hdd/ssd(s), and i want to future proof my data. i certainly appreciate better speed with new nvme storage devices, but it is not necessary.
in short, a bay for old hdd/ssd or new external nvme storage, or am i missing other options.
Hey! So my laptop is crapping out & I am in the market for a brand spanking new laptop but I have no idea where to start.
I am looking for a laptop for the long term, something with the proper care, updates, & Maintenance that can last me as close to the next decade as I can get, as long of a life span that exists within my budget.
I need this laptop to be multifunctional, think a household computer meets a school laptop that merges with playing video games such as Borderlands, Sims, Minecraft, etc.
My budget is a firm laughing stock of about $1500. What should I look out for? What should I stay away from?
Every time I turn on the pc, this text appears on my monitor screen, and I have to press the F1 button to continue to windows, but with the wrong time and date. I have tried to correct the time and date in the windows settings but this error keeps repeating when I turn on the pc.
I have a Lenevo T540 with 256GB of storage. That is now insufficient. I have a P5 Plus M.2 2280 I'd like to put in it but I can't figure out how. I have no idea what I'm doing here.
I can't remove the old SSD because it's held in with plastic pins I don't want to break. I'm honestly shy about break anything. I found a digital copy of the manual but it hasn't been much help; nor have online guides.
Other things I have on my desk that may or may not be completely useless.
I've tried providing as much info and informational a picture as possible, but if you need more info, I will happily provide! If there's another sub y'all think would be better suited, LMK ASAP.
What do y’all think about this, it looks pretty good and he says there’s no problems he just wants a ps5 instead. Lmk what thoughts you have on it!
I'm looking for a file server on SUSE that supports caching uploads to disk. I'm uploading hundreds of GB at a time to tape, which maxes out at ~13.5MB/s. Since I have around 400GB of rust in the machine I was hoping to have a server that would cache uploads to HDD. I imagine this will significantly improve performance for smaller files too.
So i got a BSOD because of a VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR. The first parameter was
Driver reported an unexpected interrupt after engine reset and before OS resumed engine. (UNEXPECTED_INTERRUPT_AFTER_RESET)
I looked on the internet to figure out what this actually means. Almost nothing came up for this exact parameter. Could anyone explain to me what this means and why this happens? I uninstalled and reinstalled my drivers but I was just curious.
Hey I just got a msi rtx3070 ti and I want to see if it works all I want to do is turn the computer on real quick and turn it off do you think I can with a 400w psu? I know I need a 750w+ to be able to actually game and use the computer but for now all I want to do is check . My cpu is a ryzen 7 3700x
Hello, I am in need of a new laptop, my needs are mostly for creative endeavors, Music production (I don't need to run a ton of plugins on it) Video editing and general office stuff.
It would be awesome if I could have multiple operating systems, I run windows and Ubuntu now. Would be awesome if I could do the hackintosh thing too.
My question is what would be the best value laptop, Ive bought refurbished mobile workstations in the past with awesome results but I haven't been keeping up on anything.
I've have a custom built PC that me and my dad keep improving most notebly he got me everything except a new power supply, hard drives and a case. While trying to load up games like fortnite or Minecraft or even sometimes just starting the computer. The Internet goes out of it and the screen freezes up and sometimes turns black in some cases. I need to restart it to even have it reconnect to the Internet. When I close Minecraft it says that my graphics drivers may be out of date but I've already checked that. we also know that it is not the Wi-Fi card because we put in Ethernet recently.
Gpu: RTX 3060 ti
Ram: 16 gb
CPU: AMD ryzen 5400 (I think)
Hi! I’m new to Blender and right now I have a MacBook that is realllllly struggling to run Blender. I want something portable to help me run this program more smoothly and render faster. It would be awesome to run Unreal on it too eventually. I’m making some fairly detailed scenes with lots of meshes and I’d like to do simple animations eventually. Can someone plz recommend some hardware? I’m open to anything portable! (I don’t know anything about computers so plz explain in layman’s terms) I’m open to external drives and other things you can think of that could maybe plug into my Mac or a monitor
