Any thoughts on this build? I am not a gamer although I might buy a try a few games once I add a graphics card in the future. Any recommendations on what/when to purchase one? I use a LG 34" 2580 x 1080 monitor. I already purchased these components but haven't built the pc yet. Still waiting on Mobo and Power Supply to arrive. Thanks!
Hi all,
I'm debating whether to buy an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D or an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Here are the price points
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D: $390, grand total with taxes included. This is brand new.
And Ryzen 7 9800X3D: $529, grand total with taxes included. This is brand new as well, from Micro Center.
It is really worth paying $139 more to get the 9800X3D, or stick with the 7800X3D?
My computer would turn on and off again before staying on but having no display. My mouse would work but the keyboard wouldn't. All I did was remove the glass panel and now everything is working perfectly. I have no fucking clue why this shit works after removing it. Thanks in advance for help 🙏
I am thinking of upgrading my PC. I'm leaning towards picking up a 5000s series GPU. I know the full details haven't been published yet but I was just looking for general feedback regarding an upgrade. My main concern is my CPU, as I want a CPU to handle at least a 5080.
Current build:
Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B650-E Wifi
GPU: AMD Radeon RX7900XT
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
PSU: Corsair RM1000X 1000 watt PSU.
Case: Y70 Touch INF ATX MT
Any feedback is welcome and appreciate your time responding to this request.
Thank you :)
I need to know if I'm gaslighting myself or if an upgrade is actually worth looking into. About 3 years ago I upgraded to the Ryzen 5600x and Raedon 6600 and its done well for a few years but I am starting to see it falling behind on certain games. On some newer games coming out I am having to drop the graphics quality to medium and low and in some cases still not hitting 60 fps or having frequent frame drops.
Obviously this isn't the end of the world but recently I've gotten the itch to upgrade. I've been meaning to get a bigger case and some more storage for a while and recently I've been thinking about just building a whole new rig if my hardware is falling behind. Do you think it would be a good idea or should I wait? How much longer should I expect my current build to hold up?
I have been using this power supply for over 11 years now, back then I did no research, and today I cannot find anything about the power supply, seems like the company went bankrupt, since the day my father bought the setup (it was a office build, we did not understand anything about computers) this power supply would make a car engine noise for 2-3 minutes when started, the noise slowly going down eventually, this has been continuing for years now, I think it is the fan but why would it be the fan if the noise goes away after minutes? I want to know why what could be causing it, and well some info about manufacturers of this PSU, I'll also post a video of it later hopefully.
i know the basics of pcs just really need help on picking could parts for my money. under 2000 usd
at the bottom of the microcenter amd bundle section if u spend 700 on a 7900 gpu u can get any amd cpu so couldn’t u hypothetically get like a 7800x3d with it
-Ryzen 7 7700X
-MSI RTX 4060 Ti Ventus 2X 16GB GDDR6
-ASUS TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI
-TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert CL30 2X16GB DDR5 6000MHz
-2X Samsung 990 Evo SSD NVMe M.2 1TB
-MSI MAG A750GL 80+ GOLD FULL MOD
-Scythe Fuma 3 CPU AIR COOLER
-1X NOCTUA NF-P12 redux back case fan
-Corsair iCUE 4000D RGB Airflow case
Is it balanced and is the cooler gonna be OK for this CPU.

Currently I have rtx 3060 with a ryzen 5 5600 and would to make the upgrade to 2k gaming. I have a budget of around 300-400 and would prefer going used to get most performance. I was looking at rx 7800 xt/4070 which are both around 400ish on ebay. But with the 50 series launch I'm a bit confused if I should wait and see if they drop in price
I’m looking to buy a triple monitor gaming setup, also used as a workstation. Cost is not the main issue, and I’ve been meaning to splurge for a few months now.
I was looking at 32-34 inch 4k monitors as well as desktop builds. My question is: If I went for a high end graphics card (4080 Super/5080/4090) would it be enough to support my monitors? Or am i over stressing the performance for no practical reason? I know I could simply get one 4k monitor and the rest 1080/1440p, but I don’t really want to.
In anticipation of Steam OS being released my son and I have been getting ready for Operation Optiplex. This sent us on a search for a GPU and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the RTX 3050 6GB is a perfectly cromulent GPU at a price that embiggens us all.
Priced between $170 and $200 they are now at price parity to a $150 1050ti from late 2019/early 2020 before the pandemic shortage hit. Adjusting for inflation that 1050ti cost $182 and delivered significantly worse performance.
Jumping to a 4060 LP comes at significant cost - $320 - but you also get roughly twice the performance. Additionally, the 4060 LP is PCIe 4.0x16 meaning it can take full advantage of the PCIe 3.0x16 slot most of the office boxes have.
The AMD RX 6400 is even more affordable at $150-$160 but the RX 6400 has some significant downsides compared to the 3050. First, it only has 4GB of VRAM compared to 6GB. Second, and much worse, it is PCIe 4.0x4 vs the PCIe 4.0x8 for the 3050. If you are planning to base your SteamBox on a soon to be Windows 11 killed 6th/7th Gen or older office systems, they will have PCIe 3.0 and the performance hit of PCIe 3.0x4 can be significant.
Intel has some A series GPUs that are low profile/low power but honestly A series was a .9 beta. Hopefully Battlemage has some low power offerings too.
PCIe 4.0 wasnt standard until 11th generation Intel processors so it will be a while before we can get cheep office boxes (Dell OptiPlex 7000) that will be able to use PCIe 4.0 GPUs to their fullest. By then its likely even low end GPUs will be PCIe 5.0.
It seems like our long nightmare of no low profile/low power GPUs options is over.
Current build: Case: Lian Li O11 Compact
GPU: Radeon 6800XT Red Devil 16GB VRAM
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x (Looking at upgrading to one of the Ryzen 7 7000 series CPUs)
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 GA 850W Gold
Mobo: MSI B550-A Pro AM4
Storage: 1TB M.2 NVMe
Ram: T-Force Vulcan Z 32GB DDR4
Cooling: Lian Li Galahad II Trinity Performance AIO Cooler
Heavy into VR gaming and heavily modded games (like skyrim, minecraft, witcher etc.) and i’m finding that my current build is having trouble keeping up sometimes, so i’m upgrading and also sorta future proofing in some areas. Currently I am upgrading my cpu which means also upgrading to ddr5 ram and an AM5 compatible board. I have found some MOBO + CPU bundles on amazon that include the MSI B650M-A Wifi Proseries and a Ryzen 7 7700x. Really just looking for opinions on this bundle and also general opinions on which MOBO and CPU would be good as i really don’t know what i’m looking for. Also will upgrade my GPU later on but am doing that in a few months when i can spend more. Thanks everyone!
Im looking for a decent IPS monitor that is very good for the price. My budget is around $300 but willing to add a bit more if we can get a really good one or even a mini-led.
Gonna be used for video editing but color accuracy doesnt have to be perfect, I am willing colorgrade on my laptop display still. I do want the Monitor to be vibrant and good to look at 😃
The parts I have mapped out that I want to use so far are
I know relatively little about PCs and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t buying any products that either didn’t go well together or just weren’t good at all. I also wanted to know if these components are good, what should I get to complete the setup?
I found a 7900xtx from Facebook marketplace for 600 euro and I don't know if it will be a scam or be legit I asked the person selling it to send videos of him running a benchmark on the graphics card so far no video. Wondering if it is worth buying the graphics card off him?
So I have a build consisting of
RX7900XTX GPU
Ryzen 7800X3D CPU
A few RGB/LCD Lian Li fans.
I got a 1000Watt PSU so that I have a headroom.
Mysystem should output a max of 800Watts Maximum if I understand correctly.
I will also put my monitor on my UPS.
My UPS is a 1500VA 900W CyberPower.
Do you think this is enough or do I risk it and should buy a new one?
What my main concern is, is if it does not let enough power into the PSU since I dont really know how it works. I dont want to mistakenly fry somehting.
What I get from ChatGPT regarding power consumption of my build is this

Looking to upgrade my monitor so I can finally at least run games at 120fps
Currently rocking an old Alienware Aurora R7, which had held up surprisingly well all things considered. It’s finally starting to show its age as newer games are becoming more and more clunky and taking long times to load. Is it possible to put together a decent build that will hold up for the next few years in the range of $1000-$1200? Thanks in advance. The specs on the Alienware are as follows: Intel I7-8700 16gb ram GeForce GTX 1080 1tb Intel Optane Memory
I currently have a i5 8400 thats showing its age on a few games and holding back my 4060. I know im supposed to build on am5 but the price is giving me pause. The motherboards will be simple upgrades nothing fancy. How important is ddr5 ram and two generations of improvements?
Hello I want to upgrade my cpu to ryzen 5 5600x and gpu to rx 6600 xt or nvidia a750 but i want to know do i need to change my motherboard too
I check my mobo manufacturer's website every couple months to see if there's anything new, but it's a bit cumbersome. Short of installing their bloatware, is there any better way to stay on top of updates?
So I was finally in a position to build a PC without having to cut corners or make any compromises on hardware. I am also fortunate enough to have a Microcenter in my home town. All I can say is wow. I went with an AMD processor for the first time in about 20 years and I am impressed. Between oxidation, voltage issues, and performance that is worse than the generation that came before it, Intel cpu's are in the toilet right now. One of the best parts of the build is that it has almost zero RGB except for what it has on the mother board which can be disabled. I also reused my GPU and will wait for the 50 series to hit on the 30th this month to upgrade that. Currently I am using an Asus TUF 3080ti OC. The new build I ended up with...
AMD 9800x3d
Asus Crosshair x870e Hero motherboard
G.Skill Flare x5 64gb 6000mt cl30 ram
Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 Black
4 Inland Platinum 4tb SATA 2.5 SSD's
3 Inland Platinum high speed 2tb 4x4 m.2 NVME SSD's
Corsair RM1000x PSU
Corsair 7000D Airflow full tower.
Jumping up from a 12700K intel processor on a budget build I am seeing an almost 40% uplift in performance. Granted I tuned for it and should not be surprised however the 9800x3d is just that good.
I pulled the trigger on my next build last night, but the motherboard I was planning to use had a long lead time, so I made a last minute substitution. I think they're fairly similar, but I wanted a check to see if I missed anything.
Planned to use: ASRock B650E PG-ITX WIFI Mini ITX AM5 Motherboard
Going to use: MSI MPG B650I Edge WiFi Gaming Motherboard
I'll be running this with a 7800x3D and an RTX 3070 Founders edition in a Fractal Design Ridge case to start, likely upgrading the GPU when the rush for the nvidia 5000 series settles down (and my bank account recovers from the initial build).
Hi. The PSU will be purchased from Australia but i'm living in Turkey. Both countries voltages are 230V (some sources say 220V, the others say 230V on Turkey) and PSU's input range is 200-240V, AC input is fixed 230V. So i think there should be no problem about voltages. The Problem is Plug types are different. I on Au, C and F on Turkey. Is using universal plug converter safe or should i get a random PSU power cable from there (I'm don't have that much proficiency about electricity so don't know all power cables are same or gonna make difference,). Or can i change just the plug side of the cable on electrician? Don't want to risk these expensive components just for cheap converter or cable. So what should i do? What is the safest method so I can sleep peacefully without worrying about my house being a barbecue? Thanks.
Hi there,
I know this is an older case but I am trying to improve the fan setup on my rig as temps for both my CPU and GPU are getting quite high. I'm already setting up to do a repaste on both.
I've noticed that I probably have my fans setup improperly. For intake I have 1 front 140mm and 1 bottom 140mm, but for exhaust I have 2 top 120mm and 1 rear 120mm.
Which of these would be the best option?
Thanks for your help!
I'm going to buy a reacondicionated GPU from pccomponentes or coolmod (they are Spanish shops)
I ordered a moshou fiber optic 4k 120hz cable on aliexpress that costs 77 dollars and I wanted to know if there is anyone like these cables that really give 4k 120hz??? this is the third cable I've ordered because the two I got with fiber optic and both show 4k 120hz but in reality they only give 2k 120hz..
