So I shorted the clear cmos pins on my motherboard (the cmos battery is hidden under the IO heatsink and IDK how to access it) and reset the cmos and tried again with a negative 5 in curve optimizer and got the same result. I reset the cmos again and turned off curve optimizer.
I never did any cpu overclocking, everything was left at default settings except enabling AMD EXPO for my ram.
I'm a little disappointed because I have seen people report being able to sustain a -30 on the curve optimizer stably and I can't manage -5. Is there something I am missing or am I just unlucky? My stock settings aren't that bad anyways, I got a multicore of 18802 and a single core of 1950 in cinebench r23 with max temp of 80.5C (during multicore load, during single core is stayed in the 60's).
My specs are: 9800X3D, 7900XTX AMD reference, ASRock B650i Lightning WiFi, Corsiar SF1000L, TCreate 2x16gb 6000MHz CL30 DDR5, Crucual T705, Silicon Power UD90, Thermalright AXP90 X53, KXRORS S300, and Thermalright HR10 Pro.

Mother board is asrock x870 pro RS
PSU is rm750
GPU is gigabyte gaming 4070 super
With the adapter my GPU has 2x8 pin connectors
My motherboard has the 16 pin connecter for CPU and a 24 pin connecter for PCIE
And my PSU is fully modular and has 1x8 pin, 1x8 for CPU and a "Type 4" connecter that is 24pin to 20+12 pin and PCIe 8x2 connector to 6+2 and I'm confused on what I'm supposed to connect where.
Thank you for any help!

Building my first computer for editing and gaming. I do not have experience building my own computer. But would prefer to be about $1200 with perhaps with the possibility to upgrade if I need to. I live in japan if that helps. I am planning to buy a part or 2 every month over a year. I do not want to buy everything at once. Thank you in advance

I built my first PC a couple of months ago with the RTX 3070Ti thinking it was enough since I only have a 1080p monitor but now I want to play games at a higher resolution so I been thinking about switching to either 4080S or 7900XTX (I really don't care about new GPU launch next month because I know it will probably be priced horribly at launch not to mention added tax, import fees and limited availability). I locked down to 2 option: Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon 7900XTX and MSI RTX 4080 Super SuprimX , both priced $1200 - $1300 brand new (I converted the pricing to USD but please don't mind it, it is just that terrible for those that live outside US/EU and won't be any cheaper in near future though I been eying some 2nd deal that seem more reasonable). I read reviews for both but each have their own problems:
4080S - Better features in general (ray tracing, DLSS and other stuffs but I mostly play games so I doubt I will ever use them all) but lower VRAM, 12VHPWR connector issues (this one really concerned me because GPU is expensive and the last thing I want is it blowing up), and questionable Linux support? (I been dabbling with Linux gaming for sometime now)
7900XTX - Better rasterization, plenty of VRAM, better display output and linux support but weaker features compared to nvidia, high idle power, temperature issues (from what I read, it feel like a GPU lottery to see if what you get is good or bad).
In your opinion which should I go for that not gonna make me regret purchasing later?
I'm going to buy an am5 PC without a video card at the moment. My budget is around 4500
I'm not sure which motherboard to buy and wanted recommendations based on the configuration
R5 8600G. Hold on tight while I buy the video card 1300 R$
RAM memory ddr5 xpg Lancer 32 (16x2) 1030R$
Power supply msi mag a650bn, 650w 295 R$
Cabinet around 250 reais. After choosing the motherboard I see which case I get
Thinking about the future, which B650 should I get? One for around 1200 reais, it could be less, but I didn't want it to be much more than that. I want one that supports an R9 since I plan to buy a video card and a better DPS processor.

Main use is 3d modeling and gaming. Estimated wattage comes up at 490W, I will be adding 1x SSD and 2x HDD to this.
Would really appreciate your wisdom and advice!
I have an old machine lying around which I plan to convert to a home NAS. It has a MSI X99S GAMING 9 board and Xeon E5-2670 v3 CPU.
Current GPU is 1080Ti but seems like it would be an overkill for a NAS system I plan to keep on during most of the day.
So I am looking for the cheapest GPU I can find that's compatible with the board and the CPU. Ideally I would need video output only while I am setting up the system.
I am also trying to figure out if I am run Moonlight on it to stream games from my main PC.
Title
I bought this system that appears ok in PC Part Picker. But the GPU connector only has "300Watts" written on it, and it looks like the 4080 needs 450? There is an adapter to connect 3 PCI connectors to the 4080, but the PSU only has 2 regular PCI connectors.
The system boots ok and can show video from the onboard graphics card, but the 4080 does not show up under Device Manager, nor does the Nvidia installer recognize it.
Do I need to buy a new PSU? If so, I am frustrated with PC Part Picker.

I just got the asian horse version of the Lian Li fans and when I installed them, they are not working. I know the hub and the motherboard is working fine because I plugged in my old fan and it works no problem. All the other fans are not working in my case as well no RGB no fan spin what could be the issue?
Good evening, I am about to build my first PC, I want to play at 1080p at a minimum of 144 fps, the components are: ryzen 7 5700 ASUS TUF B550-PLUS WIFI II AM4 motherboard 16 GB dual channel DDR4 ram 1TB SSD M.2 ADATA Legend 800 3500MB/s NVMe PCIe Gen4 x4 RTX 3070 PNY XLR8 REVEL 8GB Monitor Acer Nitro 23.8" KG241Y S Widescreen VA 1080p 165Hz AMD FreeSync Premium ADATA XPG 750W 80 plus Bronze PYLON power supply.
Do I make any changes?
Need some assistance with selecting a new monitor for my build.
I’ve got an ITX pc with a Ryzen 5 5600x and a 4060 ti 16gb (yes I know, but space was limited to a 2 slot because ITX sandwich case and at the time it was cheaper than the AMD equivalent in Australia). I’m also likely to be moving to an AM5 ATX build in the next 12 months.
I currently have a pretty average monitor - 1080p and 60hz, so I want to upgrade after Christmas. I mostly play Total War Warhammer 3, but occasionally put some hours into RPGs (Cyberpunk being the most graphically demanding that I’ve spent significant time on).
Obviously the 4060 isn’t going to cop 4k, nor do I need that resolution. Ideally I’d like to go 1440p ultra wide and run borderless window for gaming.
My questions are what refresh rate should I be aiming for and will ultrawide actually be usable given my setup? Or should I just run dual monitor with a QHD 27” for gaming and keep the FHD for discord/web browsing as a secondary?
I bought the XG27ACS a few weeks ago and when it arrived I used the included DP cable (rog branded). Instantly I got the issue mentioned in the title where the display would flicker like when you have a faulty cable.
After some googling, some posts mentioned it was a problem with the cable so I bought a new one (ugreen, with no lock). Unfortunately, I connected it today and no luck, the problem still happens only less frequently but it is completely dealbreaking.
Has anyone else had this issue and was able to fix it? I'm afraid I'll probably have to return it even though I live in SA.
Looking to get a cooler for my 14900,
My preference is for a cheaper air cooler, I don't think I will actually be pushing it too hard and don't mind if it gets loud at times.
I've found the Thermalright Frost Commander 140
and
Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120
Both seem good and are at reasonable prices.
Does anyone have experience with either? Is there a better option I've not found?
Do I need to get additional mounting kits for LGA 1700 with either of these?
I only have one cable with 3 connectors one is going into my 3060. I was told I could use that one and the other to for the 4070. I got my computer built at Best Buy and I don’t have a second cable in the box so what do I need to do.
Currently building my first PC and now I have to decide between Windows 10 or Windows 11. I know 10 will stop being supported in October 2025, but is it still worth it to get 10 just to enjoy it for its last few months, or should I skip over it all and just go straight for 11? And if I do get 10, is there a possibility of anything going wrong when updating to 11 when it's time?
Motherboard: MSI b450 mortar titanium
it only has 12V JRGB
Hello, so i am basically getting a whole new pc, Im getting a new MOBO, CPU, and GPU, now everything is compatible of course but I just need to know for anything important to look out for. It's my first time putting in new parts besides the RAM so anything helps!
Motherboard: Asus Tuf b650-e wifi
This usb is for lianli fan LCD, and I have another similar header for the front panel of my lianli case. I see the port on the motherboard is standard, but the lianli header is not. I bought all my other fans as SL V2 wireless knowing that I will only need these 2 Usb 2.0s, but it looks like lianli made their's non-standard. Am I simply screwed, or are these ports supposed to go somewhere else?
i just bought a phanteks xt pro ultra case and i’m trying to swap my components to it, i got my motherboard screwed in and when i try to connect the front panel connector or hd audio, they’re stiff and only got on like half way, i am lining it up right, ive tried PURPOSEFULLY not lining it up and it went on even less so i KNOW i’m lining it up, ive tried looking it up and other people have this issue and everyone in the comments is just saying they’re not lining it up, I AM LINING IT UP. IT WILL NOT GO IN. PLEASE HELP, also i have a asus rog b550-f
Hi guys, I am fixing up an old PC so my brother can play games on it. It currently has a i7-4790, which I will upgrade to a spare i7-7700 that I have lying around. It also has a H81M-P33 MSO motherboard, 2 sticks of 8 GB corsair vengeance 2400MHz RAM, a GTX 960 and a 850W Cooler Power v2.3 power supply. I'm thinking of upgrading the graphics card so that they can play any game in at least mid to high level settings 1080p (including newer more demanding games). Probably looking at new as it's meant to be a Christmas present and organising a pick up for a used GPU before Christmas might be a pain, but any suggestions will be great and I'll look around my local area to see whats around, though yeah looking at places like CentreCom (I am in Melbourne Australia). Budget is about $300-400 AUD. Any advice would be great!!!

The CPU it'll be cooling is a 5700X3D, is the Assassin Mini good enough?
The second question is about VRM cooling, the Assassin Mini fan is placed lower between the heatsinks and Gamers Nexus showed it improves VRM cooling by a bit. I was looking at the 140 Peerless Assassin and the fan in the middle also seems to be sitting at the same position, I wonder if it has the same effect on VRM temperatures. No reviewer has mentioned it and Gamers Nexus hasn't reviewed this fan.
I'm looking to build all white themed PC, budget is kinda limited but wanted to get liquid cooler for aesthetically pleasing looks if possible. PC will be used for Path of Exile 2 at 1080p atm but I will be upgrading monitor in the future
So far I came up https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7yfbKq, still missing Mobo, Case and watercooler. I heard that MSI Mobo has some issue with Corsair ICUE lightning apps, not sure if thats correct. If anyone could give an input that would be great! Thanks
So far, my build perfectly caters to my expectations. I am satisfied for it doing its job well. I tried to research good value parts for a year. I already bought the parts. But I feel like at my budget, I could have min maxed it better by buying online but instead I decided to buy my PC on a physical store near me for the convenience and warranty alone since customer service in my country is a hassle when buying online or in a remote store. I admit that my build should have been around 50 USD less than it should have been. And also PC parts availability isn't the best in my country to the point where I ended up paying more in the next available option. But yeah, the idea of should have spent less for the supposed specs or could have gotten more gpu power if the other pc parts are less expensive.
TLDR: I am satisfied with my build since it's got a good value cpu, gpu, decent quality motherboard, good psu, good airflow case, and ssd for the long run, but I felt like it could have been slightly cheaper for the price or I felt like I could have gotten a better gpu if it weren't for the availability/pricing issues my country is facing.
Here are the parts I've picked out. Is there anything I need to know? Any extra cables to get? I'll also be grabbing some 120mm fans obviously. Kinda just piecing things together at this point, no clue what I'm doing really. Would appreciate any help/tips/vids/etc. I've also sourced all these parts from best buy so I can utilize the 2 year no interest credit card. So any suggestions on upgrades need to be bought from there.
Mounting bars not fitting on motherboard. The cooler is the noctua nh d15 chromax black and the motherboard is a b650 gaming plus wifi. I've checked everywhere and it says that it's compatible but the bar is not reaching to the other side if that makes sense.
Hey guys, I am a mac user and use it as my main machine for everything (except gaming). I want a gaming setup and am sceptical to make a pc because of windows (which was the reason I bought a mac). I know I can get linux instead but I see people complaining how some things are not supported in it and that windows still remains the goto OS for gaming. Should I just go for consoles instead since I already have a mac for everything else?
Edit: I want to play story based games (mainly). I have two options to make a really good (high end) pc or just buy a monitor along with a console (ps5) and a switch for Nintendo games.
