I wanted to build something that could run any game I want. Been out of PC gaming for years and am very fortunate to have my big boy job for part. Really wanted to make a 7900XTX work but Nvidia is just too far ahead in the game. I spent more time looking up motherboards than everything else combined...ended up just going with the top/most rated B650 since it didn't seem to make sense to go for higher.
Please let me know any thoughts or recommendations!

I'm currently trying to optimze this build price wise, I think I did pretty good but I'm not too sure if these are the best prices given these components, also I live in America if that info is also needed.
I want to buy a 4k monitor for my pc and I'm planning to buy xbox series x or ps 5. Would I buy 60 Hertz monitor ,120 hz or higher refresh rate for this? I want to play singleplayer games not fps games My specs: Rtx 4070 I5 13500 32 gb ram Also I can't speak English very well
Hey all. I’m very new to PC building, and I’ve been working on my PC literacy to prepare for when I build my own next month. One of the questions I’ve had is what exactly should I be looking for in a CPU? So in the title I have picked a couple of the top CPU’s from PCPartPicker (literally top. I dunno why they were at the top of the list, but I’m guessing people like them), and to the uneducated (me) they don’t seem as different as one would think. The main differences would be the core count (8 vs. 6), CPU generation, and biggest of all: price (in CND it’s around $530 vs $290). But apart from that, the stats for core performance seem oddly favourable to the Ryzen 5, despite it being two generations behind. I play lots of games that apparently don’t make much use of multi-core CPU’s like Civ 6, Factorio, or EU4. So to me, it seems like the Ryzen 5 CPU would actually be the better deal for a budgeted PC, despite it being — again — two generations behind. So what exactly am I missing? Is the Ryzen 5 CPU just an unusually good one good one?
Feel free to yell at my mistakes please, that’s how I learn :). Thanks!
My WFH setup includes plugging my home and work computers directly into my monitor, and I use the monitor "Input" picker to switch between them.
My keyboard and mouse I plug into a K/M switch. I prefer this over a KVM because both are high-end devices, and good switches for high end video are expensive. Until recently this has met my needs.
I recently got a new desktop, and ever since I'm having issues with the K/M switch. The biggest one is that when I'm using my work computer, and have the USB output switched over to it, there is still some kind of signal being sent to my personal desktop which wakes it up from sleep. Same thing happens if I'm not using either computer, and have the USB "output" switched to one of the ports that doesn't have a computer connected to it.
The K/M switch was < $40, and I'm perfectly willing to believe that it's a piece of crap that isn't properly isolated electronically, so I'm looking for recommendations. At this point I'm definitely willing to pay more than $40 if it will save me the current level of aggravation. 😁
So I currently have a pc with rtx 3070 and i5 11400f , I upgraded my 3070 from 980 few weeks ago, but I realized I wanna upgrade my whole pc so I'm going for my 2nd build , for gpu I wanted the 7800xt but I realized it might be too much since I only play online competitive games and I play on 1080p so I decided to go with the 7700xt and now I'm wondering if it's worth at all to upgrade my gpu , shall I keep my gpu for my 2nd build? I'm gonna sell my old pc including my 980 fe
Hello everyone,
I have been a console gamer for the last 10 years. I came across a (new to me) gaming PC that will allow me to play on PC for the first time!
Question 1:
What do you think of this setup? I got it for $800 from a good friend.
CPU: Ryzen 5900x
GPU: ASUS Strix 2080ti
RAM: 32gb - 3600mhz
Stoarge - 1.5tb (500gbs m.2) and (1tb m.2) WDSN 850 NVMe
Monitor: ASUS 27" 1080p Curved 144hz refresh rate
PSU: 850 watts gold corsair
2nd Question:
I already have a Steam account (long story short I teach a tech program at my high school and we use Steam in the lab sometimes).
I have been playing Stardew for 3-4 years on my Xbox Live account. When I set my PC up tomorrow, will I be able to play Stardew 1.6 on the Xbox App on my PC so I can keep all my progress from Xbox? Or Is 1.6 only available on Steam and I will need to start over?
I'm relatively new to PC gaming so please don't be too harsh for asking this. Thank you for your help!
Looking to build a pc that can handle games such as: Starfield Fallout 4 Black ops 3 CyberPunk Skyrim Zelda BOTW & TOTK RDR2 GTA V GTA VI (i know it’s not out not are the specs but if i am dropping alot of money, i want to be able to hopefully run it) & many more titles
I seen ScatterVolt’s $2500 PC build but i do not know if it is the best BANG i can get for my money. I plan to buy a 4K monitor that supports well over 120 Hz. I currently run a 4K TV with 120Hz on Xbox Series X. It is great but I know i am missing out on a-lot. Can anyone build me or show me a PC to buy that can run the games listed above at 4K @ 120 fps. Pretty high settings matters to me as well since i am mostly a single player, cinematic gamer. I rarely do that COD, Apex, fortnight hogwash.
Any help will be appreciated. Budget is looking to be around $2500-$3000. Not really trying to go over amount, so some sacrifices are understandable if it cannot meet those numbers.
Thanks, and have a great day.
I made this build after weaks of searching for my best options because of how expensive pc parts are where I live and how that many parts dont even exist , so is my build good? Will I get a bottleneck between the 7600 and 4070 TI S or its all good? PCPartPicker Part List

Pretty much exactly as the title said. I want to gety little brother a gaming PC with the budget of around 700€ ($750). It doesn't need to be crazy powerful, per the budget, but he wants to play Fortnite and Minecraft with his friends. I was previously thinking of buying him a completed Pc from a retailer but I believe building one with him will be a better experience. I would love part suggestions or even complete builds.
TLDR: Games - Fortnite, Minecraft, CS2 Budget - 700€ ($750) Want - parts or builds to buy
I have a gaming PC setup at my desk with 3 monitors, a webcam, and a keyboard and mouse. I use a laptop for work, and I’d love to figure out a way to seamlessly switch all of those devices to my laptop.
I know I could use a docking station, and switch the data cable between my laptop and my PC, but I believe that would prevent me from the monitors being connected to my GPU on my gaming PC, as they would be connected to the docking station.
Is there a way that I can make this work, that doesn’t involve having to unplug and replug all of the peripherals every time I want to switch?
Hi,
As mentioned here I am actually a Intel/NV guy. But I want to give the 7800x3d a try for my 14 year old son. Target is 1440p @ 100Hz. He doesn’t play highend games.
I created this pcpartpicker list
The Dark Rock I already have.
I just looked up a middle pricy case with good rating. We don’t need RGB but he want’s a side window.
I hope the board is performance wise OK.
I have the same PSU and have no complains and just don’t know if there are better. Should be >750w. (At least I wanted breathing room for my 8700k/RTX3080 where I used mine)
First question: is this OK?
Second question: are the much better options.
BTW CPU is set.
Hello everyone.
My current setup was built about 15 years ago and had some upgrades overtime, right now its an i5 4460, GTX 650 with 16GB RAM. I don't play a lot of demanding games so I never had any problems untill a few months ago when a lot started happening, my first problem was with storage since I was using a 120gb ssd and a 1tb HD, so I added a 1tb nvme. That solved the storage problem so I started thinking about future upgrades. To make room for these upgrades I got a new case and some pretty fans (my old case was a mess of cables with no airflow whatsoever). Next I wanted to upgrade my monitor (currently a 22" 60hz samsung), as luck would have it that monitor died a few days ago and searching for a new monitor sent me on a journey to upgrade the entire setup. Choosing a 144hz 27" monitor made me want a new GPU, witch requires a new CPU to keep up, witch needs a new motherboard and that needs new memory sticks, well at least I can keep my nvme I guess. So after a lot of research a came with the following setup:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 3.8 GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX AM5
GPU: Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 7600 8 GB Video Card
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory
PSU: Cooler Master G600 600 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply
Monitor: 2x AOC 27" 27g2/bk
I'm hopping this new setup will let me play mostly the same games I currently play (vrising, cs2 and a bunch of indies) with a much better performance, and then some newer games in 1080p and high enough fps, not necessarily ultra settings.
My questions are:
Is the RX 7600 the best choice? In my country (Brazil) I can get a RTX 3060 for the exact same price and I was thorn between the 2 since the RTX has more vram, but all the reviews I found put the RX 7600 slightly above the RTX 3060 in performance. Any other GPU's I should be considering?
Will 600w PSU be enough? The calculator shows this setup using only 400w, I don't know if I messed up the calculation somewhere
I also apreciate any other sugestions about the build. Thanks!
I came across a pretty nice offer, the dude is selling this at about 60% of MSRP in my country. Been used for gaming for less than a year and still has all the boxes and warranties.
I did my research but this is a big purchase, does everything seem ok?
My current GPU is starting to show a lot of artifacting and seems like it's on its last legs. I want to upgrade my current build which consists of...
Can I just plug and play a new GPU like a 3050 easily?
MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard - $169.00
AMD Ryzen 5 7600 - $199.00
Deepcool GAMMAXX AG400 ARGB - $29.99
TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB DDR5 Ram 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz PC5-48000 CL30 - $106.99
MSI SPATIUM M482 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive - $109.00
Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA ATX Mid Tower Case - $79.99
XPG Core Reactor Modular PSU - $94.99
Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 7700 XT 12 GB Video Card - $399.99
Total: $1160.67
Hi! I've been working on putting together a new PC build to act as a creative workstation for my hobbyist-level interest in video editing and compositing, as well as support a budding interest in 3D modeling and rendering.
My budget is roughly $2000-$2500 USD, and as such, I've come up with the following:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BWt2wg
I'm looking for feedback about this build, particularly regarding any issues that I may need to anticipate, things I should change out, etc.
One other question I had was about whether I should invest in a UPS - my power will flicker (I'll lose power for 3s-30s a few times a month. Super annoying and I'd want to protect against damage (which I could just get a good surge protector for) but if I could keep the PC on for even a minute or two I'd probably be in the clear and power would be restored. Is this something I need to drop a ton of money on, or are there cheap options for my use case?
Thanks for taking a look and appreciate any input!
I have been trying to choose a new SSD for extra storage on my PC and wanted to buy a kingston fury renegade 2TB. Sadly it was out of stock so I have been wanting to buy another one. My motherboard is PCIE (?) gen 3 so that SSD was a higher gen than my PC could handle so I was looking at gen 3 SSDs.
Thats when I found out that the samsung 970 Evo Plus is only 12 euros cheaper compared to the 980 pro with heatsink. I don't mind paying 12 euros extra but is it possible for the 980 to be worse than the 970 since my motherboard can only do things at gen 3 speeds? Or should i buy the 980 if i don't mind the extra 12 euros?
So it's been a decade since I last looked into stuff like this, so I need to make sure I'm remembering the information correctly.
I'll link at the bottom the pieces I'm planning on using.
I'm doing a bit of a fancier PC build, and it's going to have an external cooling dock, within the external dock I'm going to use a Fan hub to power the 4 radiator fans and control the Pump. Now here's where the complicated mess begins. I'm wanting to use one of those Aviator connection as the primary plug (drilling a hole in the cooling dock, and using a nut to keep it in place). Now going the cheap, and less risky, route I was thinking I would just use one of the ones made for keyboards (as they use usb-c), but the converts I found either convert SATA Power to 2 USB 2.0, which I would then need to bring into a single USB-Female, or Converts Sata to Molex which then needs to be converted to USB. All the Molex to USB converts I've seen only use 2 pins for the Molex.
So is it a smarter move to split to two usb 2.0 then re-converge to a USB-C or USB 3.1 or go the molex route? Will only 2 pins on a Molex be enough to power the Hub? If I remember correctly it should be, but again it's been a long time.

hello everyone i'm looking to upgrade my graphics card to a new one, but i don't know where look or where to get it installed on my computer. any suggestions would be nice.
So I recently found an insane deal for rx 7800xt for almost 300$ new but I’m worried my R7 2700x can’t handle it and found an R7 5700x3d for almost 150$ used I originally wanted to wait for am6 to rebuild the whole system but i just can’t miss that gpu deal. So can my 2700x handle the rx 7800xt mainly gaming in 2k or buy the R7 5700x3d and wait for am6 or possibly am7 to rebuild the whole system
I'm looking to build a new gaming PC - how does it look? Looking for any kind of feedback - I'm at the max of my budget.
I do not play AAA games nor care for RT. I play games like Subnautica, BG3, CS2 and other RTS-like.
First time builder. I haven't used my PC for any gaming but today I tried to run something. Everything was going well until it randomly just *turned off*. Pressing the power button on the PC produces a singular click until I unplug the PSU and replug it back in. While it's plugged in the LEDs on the MB are lit up but obviously those are on as long as the MB should have power. Not sure what to do.
I’m soon putting together my 3rd custom build, however I’m still learning about computers and have some questions for people well versed in pc building.
My newest build is going to use an MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk AM5 WiFi motherboard, and 4x16gb sticks of Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR5-5600 CL36. I plan on over clocking my cpu, a Ryzen 7 7700 as well as my GPU (Rx 7900xtx) and the previously stated ram, but I want to ensure the motherboard can support over clocking all three components. My concerns first arised when I watched a video from JaysTwoCents talking about common pc building mistakes people make, and there was a large segment around Ram compatibility. Would it be faster if I used 2x32gb sticks instead of 4x16? Thanks!
Hey guys,
I have a pair of Corsair Dominators with Intel XMP profile that I enabled through BIOS on my AORUS X670 Elite 1.3 motherboard which caused the PC to not boot. I had to reset CMOS via the 2 jumper buttons just to get it to boot again. I can now see XMP profile is enabled in BIOS after setting it and then the machine not posting unless it was memory training.
When launching rainbow six siege (This is the only game i play much) i often see bluescreens. What might cause them?
CPU: i5 9600kf
GPU: 7700xt
MOBO: Z390 Gaming X
RAM: DDR4 1x16GB
Before changing GPU (from gtx 1660S),PSU and case i had not had any issues with that.

This is my current build, recently and impulsively bought an ultrawide 1440p monitor, and my 3060 can no longer keep up the way I want it to when it comes to gaming, could anyone recommend me a GPU for this?

Hi! So this will actually my first post on reddit (I think, I haven't checked). Anyways I wanted some help deciding if my PC itself is good enough a "base" to upgrade parts, or if I should start anew? It is a store bought PC with absolutely no upgrades to the hardware.
I do alot of gaming, art, editing, and image processing. The RAM being low is what I've experienced the most.
I have an HP Pavillion Gaming Desktop 690-00x
Anyways, I am VERY new to PC building, as I'm more of a person that messes with coding and technology on the PC itself. Any help would be appreciated!! And I can give any additional info if needed!
Hey y'all! I hope this is the right place for this, 'cuz I'm looking for some guidance on whether or not to get the 7900x3d or 7950x3d.
I'm building a new machine just for gaming, and since I'm not doing ANY work or animation on it, I'm only looking for the best performance for enthusiast gaming. Still, with that in mind, I'm trying to prevent myself from spending more money than I have too on this enthusiast build.
So what's got me confused then on parts is which CPU to get from AMD! I'm hoping to stay in the 400 dollar range, but if it's really worth it, I could justify to myself getting the 7950x3d. But right now, the benchmarks I see make the 7900x3d and 7950x3d look really similar in performance?
Not sure what's right to get then. It's only worth it to me if the performance gain is substantial.
