[suggestion] Looking for a prebuilt PC for work from home, college online, and editing photos.

Looking for a prebuilt PC around $1000 to $1500 that can tackle my three needs of being able to use it to work from home, attend college online, and I need to for photography, editing raw photos and occasionally editing videos. Thanks in advance.

[Suggestion] Search of Desktop PC for a Software Developer - newer CPU, More Ram. ~$900

Budget: $600-$1200, we'll call $800 a sweet spot.

I'm a software developer who runs a lot of containers (so more RAM and CPU threads is good). I really don't need a great PC but based on past usage I'll probably keep it for 6+ years so might as well invest a little more.

Form Factor: Desktop.

CPU: Seeking at least 6 core/12 thread, but 8/16 would be nice. I have an AMD preference but Intel is perfectly acceptable. (This is where I prefer to spend my $ I guess.)

RAM: DDR5 16GB or 32GB.

HD: 1TB is plenty of disk space. SSD.

Video Card: Not running any demanding games, so video card isn't of much importance. Capable of running 2 monitors. (A lot of what I found I feel I'm over investing in a video card which I'm not going to utilize its power much at all.)

Disk Drive: Don't care.

OS: I use Linux so windows is of no value to me. (My searching for Linux PCs hasn't turned out to well, fine if it has windows as I'll install whatever, just would prefer not to pay for windows).

I'm comfortable adding/upgrading RAM and peripherals. I'm in the USA.

[suggestion] Trying to pick between 2 prebuilts and a custom build for 1440p gaming

Looking either for a prebuilt or to build a PC capable of high end 1440p with AMD CPU. Missed out on the Best Buy 7800x3D deal. Price isn't an issue as long as it's close to $2200 USD, though wouldn't say no to cheaper.

Also looking at this prebuilt: CyberPowerPC Gamer Supreme Gaming PC, AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7GHz, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, 32GB DDR5, 2TB PCle Gen4 SSD, WiFi Ready & Windows 11 Home (SLC8480A4) [https://a.co/d/04hRe60] Also $2200

[itg] I’m having trouble finding parts for a pc and saw this on Amazon, would you recommend?

I’m having trouble picking out parts for a pc, I saw this prebuilt on Amazon, it’s £550, would you recommend? Is it wise to buy a prebuilt pc from Amazon (in case it gets damaged in transport and such)? It’s much cheaper than the parts my friends helped me pick out.

[Suggestion] Under 800 US price range gaming pc

Hi all, I am looking toward possibly upgrading my old alienware with a i7-6700k with a 1080 founders edition to something that actually works more than 30% of the time. This thing is slowly dying on me lol. I am hoping to stay under a budget of about $800 USD. I was eyeing this deal and was curious if there is anything anyone else would suggest around that budget? How much of a difference would I see in games like Tarkov, Arma, Cyberpunk 2077 and such? Should I wait to consider what deals might come out on monday? Thanks for looking.

[suggestion] windows (alienware aurora r16) vs mac (mini m4)

I am trying to decide on a complete new desktop set-up and having trouble picking. At the heart of the issue is the classic Windows (Alienware Aurora R16) vs Mac (m4 mini) debate, but I think my use case is unique enough that I am having trouble deciding.

My current set-up is an asus rog zephyrus (which i have never used as an actual laptop) hooked up to 3x 23" 1080p monitors. My main use for my "desktop" is to vpn and remote into an external windows device for work, so this is primarily a work setup which I use pretty rarely outside of work. I don't necessarily neeeed to upgrade, but the fan noise for the zephyrus is starting to drive me crazy (and no, its not a dust issue, I have taken off the base cleaned them and replaced one of the fans a few years ago when it went out) and the monitors are starting to have issues (seemingly rebooting occasionally out of nowhere? maybe a psu issue? one of the 3 original ones has already failed and been replaced, but given that they're probably from around 2015 I think that's expected). So I'm basically trying to build a system that I wont need to upgrade for 5 years but with a priority on silent operation. I don't necessarily want to spend more than 2k on the entire set-up.

I would like to upgrade my screens at the same time so I am planning on upgrading to 3x 4k screens. I am planning 2 60hz monitors for the sides and a 165 hz monitor for the main. Using remote desktop limits to 30 hz so this is fine 99% of the time. Figure it would be nice to have higher refresh for the occasional gaming and the occasional general usage outside of the vpn.

I dont necessarily need anything particularly powerful because if I am going to do anything particularly intensive, I will do it on my work computer (128 gb ram, 4 tb storage). I also don't really game much. I would categorize myself as a "very casual" with maybe a maximum of100 hrs played a year probably closer to 50. I would like to have the capability of gaming but its not really necessary. The mac mini is so cheap that if i really wanted to game, i could buy an xbox x as well and still come in under the alienware, but if I were to get a windows machine, I would want to have the capability built in of buying an xbox. Outside of the occasional game, the most intensive thing I run is the occasional piano vst which my m1 air can run so either would be more than up to the task.

To throw a wrench into the mix, I use a custom mapped keyboard (dygma raise) which i have specific windows macros set up. I think I could probably figure out how to set that up to work properly when remoting into work from a mac, but I also bring the keyboard in to physically work at my work computer on the days i do go into work. So that having multiple (even more) custom layers than i already do sounds difficult. Additionally I use a 3dconnexion mouse which requires windows pro to utilize using usb passthrough. If I switched to mac, I would basically have to give up this for home use (or pay 165 a year for the privilege of using it which i wont do). I think I'm fine with making that specific compromise because there is just enough lag as it is to make it somewhat annoying to use from home.

So those arguments would point to windows, but on the flip side, my cellphone is a iphone, and the computer I use most outside of work is a mac air so it would be nice if all of my devices were apple. I also think that apple devices are just nicer to use not to mention that the m4 mini looks to be one of the best value computers available at this point. Maybe I just had a bad experience, but the zephyrus just seemed like it had tons of bloatware and i just didnt love it while the air absolutely blows it out of the water in user experience terms.

So are there any suggestions besides those two that you think im missing an obvious computer? For the reference, the alienware is said to be very quite in all the reviews which is why that is the windows machine I am looking at.

[Suggestion] Prebuilt PC for Graphic Design and Occasional Gaming, Budget 1200 USD

I’ve been in need of a new computer to replace my dying laptop and I was hoping to take advantage of some Black Friday sale and finally get one. My requirements: I would need to run Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. I also use the Affinity apps, which are alternatives for those three Adobe programs. I’d also like to be able to play some more demanding games like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2. I’m hoping not to pay more than 1200 USD with a sale. I want something midrange that I hope to not have to upgrade in a few years if my needs change. Here are a few I’m looking at, but I’m open to other suggestions as well:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/ibuypower-scale-gaming-desktop-pc-amd-ryzen-7-8700f-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4060-ti-8gb-32gb-ddr5-rgb-ram-1tb-nvme-ssd-black/6594148.p?skuId=6594148 (seems to have good specs, but not a lot of reviews)

[suggestion] The best gaming PC under 1700 CAD

Hi, I know its blackfriday and I just want a gaming PC that is under 1700CAD. What are the best deals out there today? I don't wanna build it myself unfortunately so either prebuilt or one of those ones where you order the pieces and they assemble it for you

Also, Ideally I would like at least 32GB DDR5 RAM, 2TB storage, and a 4070 or equivalent graphics card

[suggestion] looking for a **Video Editing** prebuilt, potential black friday deal?

Hi everyone, I appreciate any suggestions/advice! Thank you to all who can help me out.

I work with pretty high-quality 4k video footage for my job

ideally, I'm looking for a prebuilt that can handle some hefty video editing with good rendering speeds

I'd like to run all Adobe Creative platforms as fast as possible

i'd like to stay under $1600, but willing to spend more if its worth it

From the research I've done, it looks like I should have at minimum 32 gb ram, but I don't really know what I am talking about haha, that's what I'm in the market for a prebuilt rather than a custom

https://www.costco.com/ibuypower-slatemesh-8-gaming-desktop---14th-gen-intel-core-i9-14900f---nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-super---windows-11---32gb-ram---2tb-ssd.product.4000291940.html

I saw this one on costco ^, any thoughts?

Looking for midrange for casual gamer. Basically I want it to be able to run stuff like Baldurs Gate 3 medium settings minimum 40fps hopefully more. Want 7-8g VRAM and good enough graphics card.

[Suggestion] reliable, mid range tower pc, good graphics card, good deal under $1400

I want something low maintence, durable, and unlikely to break, this is a priority. I'd like to avoid proprietary parts. I am looking at prebuilt Windows pc's only for the exclusive programs. I am looking to use it for gaming but nothing too demanding (ex: Metaphor Refantazio, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, The Diofield Chronicle). However I don't plan on buying another computer for 5-10 years so it should hold up for future releases. Something less noisy as well. Also I hate the lights on these new computers but as long as I can turn them off and keep the off easily it's fine, the less pernament lights the better. There's a lot of sales right now so $1400 is the hard limit but cheaper is better preferably $1000 or less. I'm currently looking at a Lenovo Legion Tower 5 gen8 AMD at $850 (5i at $990) and the MSI Codex R2 at like $800-1000 I haven't decided what version yet. I've also heard about the iBuypower Scale and at $700 it's hard to ignore.

Edit: how do lenovo and msi compare? I heard msi prebuilds are really noisy is it that bad? Deciding now whether I can live with a 4060 or go for something more expensive. Overall seems like the MSI codex r2 are better computers but very noisy compared to the Lenovo Legion towers. How are refurbished pcs?

edit: the msi's are just a better deal

Edit: wow It's a bloodbath out there. I've been looking around since wednesday? Tuesday? And every few hours something goes out of stock. Or raises prices. Got the aegis wallet crying for the 4070 super r7 770 $1300.

Suggest for Fortnight? [suggestion]

My nephew wants a gaming PC. He says he will use it to play Fortnight. Would anyone please tell me what pre-built pc’s would run the game decently well? I don’t have a specific budget in mind and that’s kind of why I’m asking cause I’d like to find out what the minimum cost would be and maybe what something would cost that would be a little future proof, too. Or if there is a reputable builder (I don’t know how or want to do it myself) I’m open to that, too.

[suggestion] Don't need something crazy powerful, soft budget of $1k USD but if higher amount required for my needs suggest away

Are there any prebuilt gaming PCs I could look into that might fit my needs? I don't need a PC that can play GTA 6 when it releases on max graphics or anything, I mostly use my current one to play games like Overwatch, Valorant, and Deadlock. I'm looking into getting a new one because I'm running some games at pretty middling FPS even on low graphics (like Deadlock, and the soon to release Marvel Rivals I wanna play) and I would like an overall upgrade as I've already upgraded this current one as far as I can. I just want to be able to run games like that on good graphics (doesn't even have to be max) while getting 120-200+ FPS, maybe also being able to stream while playing. Any reccs from anyone more knowledgeable than me on gaming PCs (which is minimal knowledge)?

[Discussion] Are prebuilt computers plagued by the scammy Black Friday practices where seemingly 'good deals' are just BF-unique models with lower quality components to offer the lower price point?

I found a PC, which whilst the model has many reviews, the listing itself says it was first available Nov 20, 2024. This seems suspiciously close to Black Friday, and I'm concerned this model may only be available FOR Black Friday, with lower quality components to offer what seems like a great computer for much cheaper. Do companies do that with PCs, like they do with TVs?

https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16883992016?Item=N82E16883992016

I am searching for a new PC, maybe $2.5k price point with higher-end components but not "NEED the very best." Important part is getting a great PC at good value, if something were more expensive but warranted it through performance and components, then I could justify getting something more expensive. But I don't want these "Black Friday deals" if they're just a scam duplicate with cheap quality components

[suggestion] looking for budget pc, first pc for kid

Hey I am looking to get a first pc for a 10 yo, and looking for deals on Amazon. He won't play any videogames there (he has a console for that), but he is starting to experiment with blender and wanted something with a basic GPU. He is just doing tutorials and is fine with waiting overnight for final renders. I saw some cool deals in mini PCs and 500-ish gaming desktops, are those any good for what I want or do I need to go near 800-ish to get something functional for this?
