My son wants to try out Warhammer 40k, specifically the black Templar. I played back in the 90's but have no idea of the current rules etc, so wanted to ask advice. Flying units were new and scary when I last played.
To get started we will probably play in house until he's confident enough to join a local group, so what's the best way to start? I've seen that combat patrol seems to be a good "army in a box" setup and I'll pick up a set of my own to play against him. Is this the best option?
the current starter set seems to be Tyranid and Ultramarines, which he has no interest in either side, so that wouldn't be cost effective. Is there an alternative? Also if he plays black Templar, is there a well balanced other army I could pick up?
I know I'll need to pick up the core rules, but what about codex? It's there a combat patrol specific codex, or are the regular 40k codex the way to go?
So, I got this guy done a ways back, and was wondering if he is even still useable now that there is a new model. Is the size difference too much? Also, I'm aware of the mold line on his leg, but sadly never noticed it until I took the picture just now, so it's too late to fix it. Live and learn I suppose.
While you are here, feel free to comment of the paint job. I know it's not all that good, but I'm proud of myself, and I think I did his face amazingly well considering my general level of skill.
I don't understand this practice at all. I am aware of Warhammer, and nothing about these emails encourages me to buy things. There's no new models, no discounts, no news. "It's Halloween! Don't you want to buy vampire models?"
I can't believe they haven't released a WH40K themed MOBA....essentially a Heroes of The Storm but with heroes from the 40K universe.
Dawn of War 3 in NO WAY counts for those that are about to bring it up. It is an abomination....they should've chosen to make a damned RTS or a MOBA. Not both in one game....it just doesn't play well unfortunately.
But I didn't make this thread to rehash DOW3.
How do y'all feel about a Heroes of The Storm but with WH40K theme? It should be really easy to make in the same engine with the same play style.
You could have basic imperial guardsmen or termagants or nurgling as the cannon fodder units that grant xp or gold. Greater demons and what not in the "jungle" area or similarly powerful units from other factions. And then characters from all over 40k as the playable heroes.
I know the MOBA scene isn't for everyone and may be super played out but I really do think it would be super enjoyable and make a lot of money for GW as well as being extremely fun for those that like 40K and MOBA games.
The possibilities for characters and meat powers are endless and Warhammer lends itself Really well to the MOBA style genre imo. I really can't believe it hasn't been done.
Hello there everyone! As the title suggests, I was hoping somebody could answer some questions for me, since I myself had a hard time coming up with an answer as to where/how to purchase these boxes, and/or pre-order them. I'm getting one for a Christmas present, and I've heard that you have to pre-order them or something? I'm new to all of this, sorry. Anyways, yeah. I was hoping somebody could help direct me where to go, because I cannot seem to find where to get them. Any help is greatly appreciated! And thank you!

I want to do a diorama with a lord plagues telling stories to some nurglings. Problem is, I need nurglings. I know there is the nurgling swarm, but I think there're better sculpts for these little rascals.
So I had a bottle of kieslev flesh that was partially open, that gets on my hand. I had THOUGHT I wiped it all off.
Until I see there's a thick caking of it on the amulet, robes, and some on the stick...
Hi, so I've grown up playing a number of different wargames with my dad, but never Warhammer, but stopped for a few years. I'm now living in the UK and trying to start up wargaming again, looking at things like Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game and Star Wars Legion. But based on the clubs nearby me they don't seem to have a big following and a Warhammer game is always easy to come by.
I've always had a vague interest in the lore etc. but never dived too deep into it and tried to play. One of the problems being joining a game that is so established that I just don't know where to actually begin with army building etc. So looking for any advice on where to actually begin
I am looking for any advice on how to best remove a model from a base without destroying the base or the miniature itself, any help would be appreciated as all the videos online I can find say to cut the base off! As I’ve gotten better at painting I am looking to go back and add better base details to my previous models.
