I have a squad of custom varagyr in the works, but before I move forward on them I need to figure out what loadout they should be run with.
So far, I've been torn between three main options, really.
Frost axe + Frost Claw is 275 points for decent all around threat against just about any marine, but I worry they will lose quite hard to rival Terminator squads equipped with those instant death thunder hammers.
Frost axe + Heavy flamer is the same cost at 275 points, losing one attack but gaining five heavy flamer templates. This build seems really cool, but likely isn't worth it given anything they can kill with heavy flamers they can likely just beat to death. Reaper autocannons are another option, but ridiculously expensive at 15 points per.
Finally, thunder hammer + frost claw is a lot pricier at 350 points, but means they should have a decent chance of beating anything in the game short of a Primarch. However, that may mean that, since they're so slow, they just get ignored all game and don't make up their value.
I'd love to hear any thoughts people have on these.
Fellow Preators, I am wanting to build an Archamus model. Does anyone know what he was armed with or have pictures that might help me build him?
Latest model for my DG finished.
How well do they fit? Do some fit better than others? Any pictures/posts/links to videos would be greatly aprecciated.
(If this counts as too "low effort", I apologize in advance mods.)
I wanted to add some battlesmiths to my list to make the knights last a little longer. Is this list legal? I've read the FAQs and it says that I can ally questoris with mechanicum as an optional detachment (is that different to allied?) anyway, is this list any good? Plan is for porphyrion to have a unit of tech priests and the archmagos next to it to ensure it never dies, and the heaps of Armigers go forward to claim objectives and block things from getting into melee with the big knights.

Just started the final parts of my artillery chunk for my army, but the Arquitor Bombard is again out of stock. I could kitbash a legion Medusa on some Sicaran tracks but the Medusa is gone 😢
Hey yall! I have a bunch of spare parts from the old sang guard kit and was wondering what I could use for a praetor. The wings and masks are what I’m most curious about.
I know he’s technically primaris-ish but he’s about the same size as a praetor and I feel like he could work with my conversions. I know he has a BT marking on the stomach but I’m making a custom legion (11th legion) and I plan on having the iron cross be part of their heraldry. Anyways opinions?
I hope to get the age of darkness in a few months and because i play raven guard i was wondering on some suggestions on how i could make the box fit them better
I have 2 questions,
I’ve got the MKIII box and the melee upgrade box. I’ve got 2x10 MKVI tactical squads, a Tartaros praetor with command squad and a five man tartaros. Looking for advice on the best build for these guys was thinking of a mortalis squad but have limited 30k right handed pistols.
We have published the latest of our army focus articles, this time focusing on the Solar Auxilia
So let us know what you think, and if you disagree or agree with our thoughts on this army of mortal heroes!

I had to correct a small error on fulgrim before submitting to CoP mpo
I'm new to Heresy and building an Ultramarines army that I'd like to be fairly simple and as well-rounded as possible. I only play in a very casual setting, so I'm looking to build a mid-tier list that isn't overpowered, but is still fun to play with. I came up with the following, mostly based on units that I've already painted for fun. Apologies for the janky formatting.
My general thinking was to use the tac squads to push up, fire at high value targets, and then allow the Legion special rule to improve the subsequent shooting of the Sicarans and Scorpius in the backfield. The Spartan would be loaded with Terminators, champion, and apothecary for a punchy tank unit, and the dreadnoughts provide reliable support where needed. The small plasma support squad is meant to be a sneaky distraction unit, and the rotor cannon squad is there because they look wicked. The Praetor would roll with the command squad, and I'm not sure what best to do with the MoS, but he is a tax for the LL RoW. I realize this list and strategy might be complete trash, but I'm grateful for any guidance!
I am considering converting a Talos pain engine to turn it into a Castellax (provided size fits).
This brought me to a general question though:
Do Automata contain human parts? Initially the first answer that comes to mind is probably "no", since they are specifically said to me entirely machine rather than cyborgs like the thallax. But looking at the models, they already have built in servo skulls and going from there to using, say, the arms of an ogryn instead of mechanical arms isn't a huge step IMO. Also, on the other end of the spectrum, are the servitors from 40k which are mainly biological but behave like machines for all intents and purposes.
So the question is more like could/would an automata from the dark mechanicus potentially contain human parts and create something looking like a talos?
Mounting a next painting. A Acastus!!!😱. It's huge
Does anyone have pictures of the new MKIII with MKVI helmets from any upgrades?
