New England, everywhere I look,
old letters crumble from the Book,
China trade rubble, one more line
unraveling from the dark design
spun by God and Cotton Mather—
our bel età dell' oro, another
bright thing thinner than a cobweb,
caught in Calvinism's ebb.

I am looking for somewhere to go spend a weekend with my husband for the upcoming long weekend. Most places I've looked are booked as it is last minute. Any adults only locations? Cabins? Suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
A fun creative exercise. Be sure to include group name, individual names, and superpowers.
Has anyone else seen the autumn 🍂 olive 🫒 (that’s what this plant is) in their state? If so, where did you see it?
As the title says we (a group of 4 people in our 30s) are driving to Maine and one of us is a brand new member of the New England area. I’m looking for a place to stop along the way where we can walk around and I can show off a little of the region that I love so dang much. Unfortunately I’m having analysis paralysis, and running out of time to make a decision. We will be driving up the 95 to Portland/Brunswick and then swinging inland towards Augusta. My criteria:
Thank you so much!
Hey,
My boyfriends isn't from New England or the U.S. & he really wants to see & do some festive Halloween stuff...Does anyone have any good recommendations on places to hang out, haunted hayrides, parties, festivals, etc. I grew up here but I haven't done a lot of that stuff in a while...We used to go up to Danvers to go to the corn maze, Barrett's. I went to the pumpkin festival up in Keene a few times back in around 2010/2011 & it was a good time...drinking, walking, dancing, so many pumpkins, honestly had a good energy I haven't really seen in a while so if there's anything like that still going on i'd appreciate a clue. Or like, pumpkin patches or orchards where you can also drink, or spend all day into night..
Also anything actually scary that I can impress him with haha
I would take him to Ptown but getting a place for the weekend after halloween seems like it'd be impossible...out of towners\
Anyways guys I know there's a million posts like these but I appreciate any insights cuz the algorithms make searching Bing and Google suck
Thanks!
I understand that it’s mostly a joke. But why do people pick on Connecticut so much? It really isn’t very different from Massachusetts or Rhode Island at all, minus Fairfield county, which most Connecticut residents don’t include in any discussion tbh. I always hear the whole Yankees fan thing, or NY sports fan thing..but again that’s mostly in Fairfield county..and even so, Rhode Island and Vermont both have a plethora of Yankees fans lol…so again, why the hate? I know most New Englanders only travel through CT to get to NYC or other destinations, and many New Englanders Ive talked to who have actually spent real time in CT have great things to say about it..but is there anything else? I love all of New England, and couldn’t care less about the sports thing, especially since before the patriots came along pretty much all of New England loved the giants lol. Please don’t respond with hate, this is just general questioning
Can anyone suggest a waterfront campground for tent camping in southern NH, VT, or ME. A more secluded spot preferred but open to suggestions, also want to hike!
Does anybody know of any spots anywhere in New England I’d be able to trailer a dirtbike to and go riding and do some camping?? From CT but open to travelling anywhere from PA to Maine
I wanted to take the opportunity to fill out our new megathreads by asking for the community's input on things that are a "must see" from your state.
I would like to add a travel guide section in the megathread so when we direct people there, it is not merely and empty thread.
Please comment here so we can get those megathreads finalized for travelers!
I am realizing I am severely late to the game on this, but still would like to escape texas for a bit and enjoy the fall weather and colors in a place where there is fall weather and colors.
We wouldn't be driving around a lot like a roadtrip, I still would be working from home but ideally would be able to go out and enjoy a short trip or a hike early in the morning or after work/weekends
I am curious to see where people buy their buds (legally and at a store obvis)
I am getting my medical card soon and I am excited to have more affordable and different options for bud. I know going to Maine I can get an OZ pretty cheap, great bud.
But I’m curious to find premium bud? I am down to spend some money for an OZ but i want a good deal too?
Whatever open to hear what people got. I am down to drive to Maine or anywhere within an hour - hour & half drive from Brighton/Allston - Boston area.
You start the day in or around Amesbury, MA and want to end your night in Portland, ME.
Your goal is to spend that day roadtripping throughout NH/VT.
What are your must stops/must sees along the way?
P.S. I realize Vermont might be a stretch but I added it just because I didn’t want to rule out anyone suggesting anything that may be on the eastern side of the state.
New England is a horrible place and no one should visit or move here. The foliage is a marketing scam! Trees don't look like that in nature. Nothing looks like that in nature. This isn't some Willy Wonka fantasy land. Stay away for the sake of your mental health and your wallet. We're like money vampires up here. We'll suck your wallet dry for the promise of looking at some sad, wilted brown trees. We're not quaint. We burn witches and tip poor defenseless cows when they're peacefully sleeping. There's nothing here but the burned out shells of old textile mills and incest. It's like 90s era Bosnia or present day New Jersey up here. Tourists are treated like scavenging dogs. Go to beautiful Italy or Olde England. Stay away from New England. Currier and Ives are liars. We've actually got people convinced that we milk trees for "maple syrup"! Milk trees?!! Seriously? I can't believe people actually fall for that. It's all a lie. A scam. You've been hoodwinked, bamboozled, swindled. Stay away. You've been warned.

What are the predictions for winter ‘24-‘25? Last winter was really weak, which was fine with me!
