I am looking for a place in HRM that would repair a paint sprayer similar to this one,
Mine is out of warranty but I don't want to buy a new one before someone looks at it first.
Hi everyone,
I’m in my early 40s and finally chasing some things I missed out on growing up. One of those is learning piano—something I’ve always wanted to do but couldn’t as a kid due to circumstances.
Is it realistic to start now? I don’t need to be amazing, just good enough to play for myself and enjoy it. Also, does anyone know of a patient (and not too costly) teacher who works well with adult beginners?
Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences if you’ve learned an instrument later in life. Thanks!
Our son is looking for a fresh style and we’re wondering the best spots in HRM for the cut he wants. The guy in the light grey tee is his preference between the two reference pics.
We have to travel so planning in advance is a must. Thanks Halifax.
Hello there, I recently moved to Halifax (specifically Bedford) from Egypt and I ordered two items one from Amazon and the other from fedex. I live in an apartment and was wondering do Amazon and fedex deliver the packages to my doorstep or do they leave it in the package dropoff boxes in the buildings mail room?
Thanks in advance!
My Partner was dropped off in the north end of Dartmouth near something called sweets and Colin’s. does anyone know where or what that is? He’s missing and I’ve called around the hospitals. I’m scared and don’t know what to do.
Anyone else have experience with overly aggressive security/bouncers at clubs in Halifax. My friends and I had an unpleasant experience with security at the marquee tonight.
Hi there, I am just wondering if anyone knows where I can find the mint chocolate girl guide cookies in HRM. Hopefully I'm not too late to the party XD
Hi everyone, I'm trying to help my mother figure out a plan for financial stability for her and my brother who has autism. He's in his late 20s and has been trying to find something in his field (tech) for quite some time with no luck. My mother is struggling to make ends meet for her and him while he is having difficulty finding means to have an income. They have tried a few things that they found on autism nova scotia but seem to have exhausted their resources there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
*Edited to provide more detail
I'm heading to Halifax for a few days to work, and am looking for some recommendations. I'll be staying at the Best Western chocolate lake hotel and will be ordering in for dinner. What's your favorite vegetarian friendly place to eat? The best pizza? Also, I won't be driving but want to do some sight seeing. Is getting to Peggy's Cove or another pier area going to be manageable by the city bus, or is there a better option besides Uber? TIA for the feedback
Hey there, my mom just had surgery and is now the owner of a stoma. I was wondering if there are any ostomates in Halifax that know of a physical supply store in Halifax? There's lots of things online but I prefer to see the product since we are still learning about ostomies, in general. Thanks!
Hello! I'm looking to have a custom "mother's ring" made with my 3 children's gemstones.
I got a quote from Charm and would like to see how that compares to local businesses.
The ring design I want is fairy expensive/large so I'd like to do proper comparisons by calling local jewelers, before going to a bigger store like Charm. Support local if I can...!
Ideally 1ct total gemstones.
3 stones, sapphire and 2 peridot, yellow gold, not picky on karat.
I have multiple gold rings I could bring in to have used for the band. Charm doesn't do that, but said they could pay me as a trade in, not sure how much that would work out to be!
Send me your recommendations!!
Hello all! I am looking for suggestions on birthday party venues that could take 20 people max for January. I am not sure if Airbnb still allows people to rent it out for events such as this. Thank you in advance!
Hi, my friend (26 female) is planning to go to Halifax as an AuPair. She wanted to go to a big city as Toronto or Vancouver but she found a super nice family in Halifax. Now she‘s worried that she won‘t like it there because there’s probably nothing to do, no other foreigners there or that the city is too small and remote. What would you recommend? To go there or rather go to a big city?
Long story made very short—I was a typical gym class failure growing up and I want to work with a (probably?) personal trainer who won’t mind my various neuroses and can teach me how to enjoy moving my body again.
I’m “active” in terms of walking everywhere and always dancing alone in my home, but far from “fit”. I have dabbled in strength training, swimming, and yoga but got very bored and frustrated with them.
I still very much dislike being perceived exercising and any kind of forced enthusiasm…anybody here have recommendations for a low-key compassionate trainer that doesn’t mind dialling back the assertive motivation until I can find my footing?
A comment I read in a post on here about a potential bridge between Halifax and Dartmouth over George's Island made me wonder if there was ever a serious plan to do that. While looking into that, I came across a blog entry about the tunnels of Downtown Halifax on the Halifax Public Libraries website.
They have lots of great blog entries about local history and lots of other things.
I'd never heard about this:
In the 1960s, the Halifax-Dartmouth Bridge Commission was in the middle of a great debate. There was no doubt that traffic was increasing and that a new way for vehicles to cross the harbour was needed. They could go the traditional route with another bridge, or they could try something more daring.
The Commission had a study conducted by Canadian Bechtel Ltd. regarding the feasibility of a tunnel from downtown Halifax to Woodside in Dartmouth that would pass near George’s Island.
ETA: I also discovered that some people think that the Macdonald bridge is named after John A. MacDonald. (It's really named after Angus L. Macdonald)
ETA2: There is some info on Wikipedia about a third harbour crossing (a bridge or tunnel). The Internet Archive has archived the Cross Harbour Traffic Needs Assessment report from 2008, commissioned by the HDBC.
