Hello, I am looking for a ring holder for a Christmas gift. I would prefer to buy local, but I am struggling to find local artists who make ring dishes.
Ideally, the ring dish would have a center protrusion that the rings can be stacked on. Please let me know if you are aware of any local makers who make something like I've described.
I have googled Halifax Potters and checked out a few websites, but have only found those specialized in dishware/cookware. I go to many markets throughout the year as well, but I'm either blind or having no luck.
Thank you!
I'm looking for a 0.2 mm hotend for my A1 mini printer, but Bambu ships all small pieces via Canada Post. (I still have a roll of filament in limbo somewhere near Mississauga that shipped a couple of days before the strike started.)
Is there anywhere local that sells Bambu parts? Canada Computers doesn't have the 0.2 ends in their catalogue, and I don't believe Great Hobbies carries anything from Bambu yet. Google is turning up online stores in other provinces, so the shipping issue persists. Where else should I look?
My partner and I are celebrating our anniversary today. We decided we will check out Playdium for the first time for both of us. How does it work? how do you collect tickets? I heard that certain things you pay extra for? Am I confused?
Explain to me how to get the best out of playdium? What should be budget?
Senior looking for a group who love to play Euchre. It is one of my favourite card games. Once a week or a community centre, or senior centre. But have never heard of a group. I hope there is one.
Hello Everyone,
A few days ago, I was searching for a job and came across a cashier position at a store located in downtown Halifax called Highmart Store. I submitted my resume, and after a few days, they called me for a two-hour training session.
I thought the training would involve learning about store operations, such as opening, closing, and getting familiar with the work environment. However, during the session, they told me I had to move boxes in the storeroom to “prove my worth.” Thinking it was part of the job routine, I did it happily.
Afterward, they informed me that I would have a 5-hour shift the next day alongside other candidates. They explained that they would train us further and then decide who was the most capable. Again, I assumed this was part of the process and agreed.
The next day, when I arrived at Highmart Store, they told us (four candidates) that we would be assessed to see who was the “most capable.” They took us to a warehouse, and at that point, I started to feel something was off. But I needed the job, so I stayed.
They instructed us to unload a container, with each package weighing more than 120 lbs. I did the work because I really wanted the job. After emptying the container, they told us to reload it into another smaller container, transport it to the shop, unload it, return to the warehouse, and repeat the process.
I arrived at 11 AM and worked continuously until 5:30 PM. By the end of it, I realized this was a scam—they had no intention of hiring us as cashiers. Feeling disheartened but helpless, I told them my time was up and left.
I waited 2–3 days, hoping they would call me for the actual cashier job. When they didn’t, I texted them for an update. They responded by asking for my email address to process payment for the work I had done. I sent them my email, but they didn’t send any payment.
When I followed up again the next day, they assured me the payment would be released soon. Now, 15 days have passed, and I still haven’t received any payment. Yesterday, I called them, and instead of addressing my concerns, they blamed me, saying I had left the work unfinished and was irresponsible.
This experience has been devastating. I came to Halifax to study and have completed a Master’s in Engineering from Dalhousie. This was the first time in my life that I felt so small and heartbroken. I was desperate for a job, and they took advantage of my situation.
I have all the conversations I had with the store employee and manager saved. They cheated me, and while the unpaid payment hurts, what truly eats me up inside is how they deceived me.
Fyi some smelly creep has been opening doors and smashing windows in the neighbourhood
I have a 16 foot PVC motor boat on a trailer that needs repairs, but the glue requires room temperature to apply and cure properly.
Does anyone know anywhere that I can rent or leave the boat for a few days while I do the repairs and let the glue cure (approx 72 hours).
The amounts of glue are quite small, and not messy. Preferably the spot would have an electrical socket for a small heat gun, but I could manage without one.
A week would be ideal. Could pay or trade labor.
Any leads would be appreciated. thanks!
Has anyone seen any Webkinz for sale at any stores around here? Second hand is fine too!
To play Christmas carols or to not play Christmas carols ?
Looking to take my husband for a whisky or bourbon tasting. Anyone have any good suggestions on locations? Would like something within Halifax area! Thanks y’all
Is there anywhere local to buy Taylor Swift sweaters or t-shirts to teen girls? One of my last items to buy and I'm trying to avoid online.
I'm looking to buy my wife some reflective arm bands to use for nighttime walks, and wondering where I could find these in Halifax? I'm not looking for anything that lights up and requires a battery, only reflective material.
I've checked the Running Room, but they only have the LED style. Prefer not to buy from Amazon.
Appreciate any help.
Can anyone recommend a good company to service oil furnaces?
A massive celestial structure in the sky heading west bound on the 103 between the boutliers point exit and exit 6. It looked like 10 satellites all lined up. As we came closer to exit 6 it disappeared. Happened around 650pm. Seen a couple people pulled over on the highway presumably looking at it.
I used to watch it at Off Track Brewing but since they closed I need an alternative.
Anyone know where I can find some tractor tires to flip for some deep squats? Does dal have some?
Cheers lifters,
Edit: smoothed my brain with a pile of rocks,
Me and my mom have lived in our apartment for over ten years and around 3 months ago our kitchen sink pipe started leaking. Our landlord is informed since we knew about it those 3 months ago and we have yet to have someone come and fix it. There is only 1 maintenance person and this building is old so obviously other apartments have problems as well, but I don’t think it should take this long for this problem to be fixed. We have had to keep a bowl underneath the sink and keep on dumping it everyday. Our landlord has yet to give us an eta of when the maintenance person will come and fix it so I’m not really sure what to do.
Without listing the obvious…Crosby, MacKinnon, and Marchand.
Does anyone know where a person could get whipped cottage cheese. I couldn't find it at any of the major grocery chains. (Sobeys, Loblaws, Walmarts)
I noticed Big Leagues Pub on Bayer's Lake is always hiring... What's the deal there? Can they not keep their staff or is the food even good?
On a hunt for the strongest weed u can get in hrm. Must be from an actual store whether it be nslc or some res, im not looking for any “i know a guy”’s lol
Got an old dresser (finally beyond fixing) to put out as a bulky item this week. I checked online and in the app, but does anyone know if it's better to remove the drawers and stack them to the side, or leave them in the frame?
Dresser is taller than it is wide.
How the new building in front of the original KW buildings not only blocks the view of Halifax is casts a significant shadow on the buildings behind is brutal. It’ll be worse once all of them go up. Feel bad for the people who bought in those OG buildings.
It’s unused and on the 5000 block of roome st in the north end.
