I’m unclear on the parking meter rules in Hartford. Occasionally I drive into downtown for work and find street parking. If I park at a 2 hour spot, could I re-feed the meter via the Woonerf app when I exceed the 2 hours or do I have to move my vehicle to a new zone and pay for a new parking session? Does refeeding warrant a fine from the parking authority?
Currently at montage in Rocky hill and absolutely hate it. Looking to move to a new building (studio/1bd) and doesn’t have issues with pests. Trying to look for a place that is under 2200.
Tried a few places nearby but they aren’t too great. Any recommendations are appreciated!
2 GA for Saturday for sale. Can longer go!
we are an older gay couple together 46 years. we are looking for a house outside of the city , budget $300,000. could anyone recommend a safe community we would be safe ?
Hi all,
I’m vacating my 2bd / 1ba apartment near the Farmington and Quaker intersection and the new lease would start October 1.
It’s 1995 per month, where tenant pays electric, gas, and water. The rental is the first floor (1500 sq ft) of a multifamily house. There’s a spacious driveway that’s enough for two cars. Other tenants in the building are super friendly and mind their own business.
If you’re interested let me know, thanks!
Moving to Bristol soon, gonna be working in the Farmington area. I was wondering what the best shopping malls in the area are? Interested in both regular and outlet malls. Thanks!
I will be flying into Hartford at the end of October and have 4 days to explore it/surrounding areas. I will have a rental car. Suggestions on places to stay, food, hiking, scenic drives…..?
I'm looking at a place for rent near St. Augustine Church and Campfield Memorial Grounds. Would you recommend?
Postmates is giving you free dinner (only in Connecticut) with the code, CTSummer!
Has anybody else seen the turkey(s?) that are occasionally strutting around on the side of I-84 in Hartford? It’s always in that spot on 84 West just after you go under the “Welcome to Hartford” bridge tunnel thing and then you go around the corner and down a little hill and there’s a small grassy area on the left. It’s usually just one turkey and it looks kind of mangled and it’s always in that spot.
It’s kind of baffling to me to see a turkey there because I’ve seen turkeys all the time out in the suburbs and the sticks, but I’ve never considered them to be urban animals like pigeons or raccoons. Anybody else seen a turkey there?
Is there a reputable place you can rent an XBOX console for a couple days while traveling? Will be in the Hartford area. Thanks
I'm a Brit who's currently in Connecticut for a work trip and holy shit Americans just can't drive at all
Such shit and aggressive drivers who drive like they want to kill someone
Is it just the norm to drive like this in America?
hey we are leaving the Hartford area in Nov, but wanted to see if anyone was in need of a nice rental starting in mid Nov? it’s in a good location in the Farmington area.
Hi everyone,
I was involved in a hit-and-run accident on September 1, 2024, around 1:12 PM on I-84 near Exit 48. I had pulled over at a spot where I could see the overpass with the "Welcome to Hartford" sign. There was a traffic camera on my left, but the officer who attended my case said those cameras don't record anything.
The car that hit me was a red vehicle, possibly a Mazda hatchback, with a Connecticut license plate that I’m sure started with "BB" followed by 5 numbers. I was rear-ended while driving in the rightmost lane. The other car's front bumper was severely damaged—my wife saw that the bumper color was likely black, and after the damage, the silver chassis behind the bumper was visible.
When I pulled over, the car passed me and fled. The front bumper on the right side was hanging and almost touching the ground. Given the extent of the damage, I doubt the driver would continue on I-84 and attract attention, so I suspect they might have taken the immediate next exit, which was Exit 48.
I’m posting this here in case anyone in Hartford or nearby spots a car with similar damage. I don’t think the driver would have taken it for repair right away for obvious reasons. If you see a car matching this description, please let me know. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your help!
Important Note: I carefully reviewed the map, and if the driver took Exit 48, they would have had no choice but to pass through the intersection of Asylum Ave and Garden St between 1:12 and 1:20 PM. If there are any security cameras or personal Ring doorbell cameras along Asylum Ave or Garden St, the car might have been captured on video. If anyone is aware of such cameras in this area, or has personal security footage from that time, please let me know.
Recently separated from my husband and basically starting over after he had several affairs. He couldn’t seem to leave his “band life” mentality behind him. That said I’m not really sure how expensive or not it is to leave in the area and what is the best way to seek out a roommate? Help is much appreciated
Hi! I’m college student at Hartford and I’m from Boston. I plan to periodically go back to Boston outside of breaks for appointments and such. I just want to know what’s the best/affordable option to back to Boston?
I’ve taken the Flixbus once, I haven’t tried Greyhound or Peter Pan.
Hi everyone!
I posted here last month about my book club that meets once a month (and will probably start posting every month in case people want to come). But, we are a young professionals Hartford based book club called “The Bookies” and we meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm at Urban Lodge Brewery in Downtown Hartford.
Next month, we are meeting on October 1st and reading the book “Rough Magic” by Laura Prior Palmer. If you’re interested in joining us, read the book and meet us there! We sit upstairs and we’ll have a sign to identify us.
Please feel free to comment or reach out with any questions.
I'm potentially starting a postdoc position at the UCONN Health Medical School and planning on moving from Albany, NY. Would appreciate some advice as I begin my search for housing. I'm mostly interested in good value for rent and finding a good neighborhood. What are some good areas to start looking? (Preferably a small house, 2 beds at least)
Edit for more info: I'm not picky about the type of area or town, I would like to avoid dealing with all the crazies we have in downtown Albany tho lol. Definitely open to apartments and duplexes, not just houses. I would like to keep the commute to within 30 minutes.
I was struck by a vehicle while riding my bike on Capitol Avenue in Hartford, CT on Saturday, August 31, 2024 around 2:30 pm. The driver left the scene and from what I can recall the vehicle was a black SUV or pickup truck, possibly a Chevrolet. The police responded and there were witnesses at the scene but no one was able to get a license plate number. I am worried that the chances of finding the driver are very limited but wanted to post to see if I could find anyone who may have seen what happened. Many thanks on advance.
Hi everyone, I’m currently working as a data analyst and am eager to transition into a data engineering role. I’ve been honing my skills in SQL, and data visualization, but I know there’s a lot more to learn, especially in areas like data pipelines, ETL processes, and big data technologies. I’m looking to connect with professionals who have made a similar transition or are currently working as data engineers. I’d love to hear about your experiences, any advice you might have, and perhaps even discuss potential learning resources or projects. If you’re open to chatting or sharing your journey, please reach out! I’m excited to learn and grow in this field. Thanks in advance!
Hi all. I’ll be traveling from VT with my brothers and father to watch the Hartford athletic game this Saturday. We are looking to also catch the USA game at a bar/pub close to their stadium/in Hartford. Any recs?
I'm back with my twice yearly post! We're looking for a couple of women to round out our roster. The league starts this Sunday (9/08) and runs through 11/3, playing 7 total games with 2 weekends off (holiday and bye week). We have players (like me!) with a low skill level and some players who play at a higher level, but it's all about fun! We are in the lowest tier of a 2 level league. You should join us!
Details:
7 games
Rotating fields between East Hartford, Manchester, East Windsor, & Windsor Locks
80 minute games, 2 refs, 11v11, coed, even gender split
League fee between $50-$60 depending on final roster size
If you're interested, send me a message!
Just curious because in my country Poland we go around 180-200kmh on the freeway if there's not much traffic, but yesterday I was talking to an American tourist from Connecticut state and he said he was so shocked at how fast people were driving on freeways and that in America even 160kmh is considered very fast and almost no one drives at that speed
Is this actually true?
I have about a 4-month beard, new to me. White guy, if it matters. Looking for someone who would be good for trimming and even it out.
Recommendations, please?
I currently take peterpan bus, it takes me 4 hours and $35-40 to 3.5 hours to travel. Are there any alternative ways?
