Any good self service car washes in the Portsmouth/Kittery area? Looking for one where you just wash it yourself in the bay, no big spinny brushes.
I (33f) moved here on Saturday from Tennessee. I’m currently just sitting in my apartment and have no idea what to do. I, of course, haven’t made friend quite yet so it’s just been me and my dog hanging out!
Anyone have any suggestions? I thought about maybe taking my dog down to the beach for a bit but it’s already dark so maybe I’ll do that tomorrow. Maybe I’ll walk across the street and buy a puzzle or something? Idk but the boredom is killing me
Also, I’m not a drinker which kinda eliminates a lot of options unfortunately lol
Hi Everyone! I’m getting married in the Portsmouth area in July and I’m looking for a videographer, my budget is about $3k please let me know if you have any suggestions! Thank you!
Looking for a private chef to cook a dinner for 20 people in the Portsmouth / kittery area. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!
What’s going on with the air quality right now? Just drove over the Piscataqua bridge an hour ago and it looks like it did last summer during the Canadian wild fires. Smells like oil burning too.
Really enjoy house music, are there any shows around this area?
Hey!
I’ll be traveling to Portsmouth in the next month or so and was wondering if there were any establishments that were gay-centered by any chance? I know there isn’t a dedicated “gay bar,” but would love some recommendations as to the next best thing! Also, any other cool places can be suggested!
They don't take reservations so I'm wondering how risky it would be to go on a Friday around 6?
Seeing a show in Portsmouth, have reservations at Jumping Jays. What else is there to see and do in the afternoon? Looks like all cruises are finished for the season, The Stawbery Banke is closed, and the Portsmouth Lighthouse is closed.
What should I see and or do?
And bonus points for non Ya Basic flavor profiles.
Hi, my best friend just went through a breakup and is looking for a roommate as of November. She lives in a super cute spot in the heart of downtown portsmouth. It's an older house but has tons of charm and you would be in walking distance to pretty much everything. She works from home, and loves hiking, skiing, being outdoors/ has lots of fun arsty hobbies.
Moved here over the summer and have noticed an influx of homeless people in the area over the past few weeks? Have been harassed numerous times while strolling downtown and have seen them hanging outside of several stores/supermarkets.
Is this normal during this time of year? Genuinely curious as to what’s going on.
Anything in the area? TIA!
Hi! I’m visiting a friend the day after Halloween and wanted to know if anybody knew anything about events going on during that weekend! Any information would be super helpful.
Hi, my friend and I are traveling through Portsmouth tonight and its our last night together and really want to do Karaoke. Where can we do Karaoke on Sunday night?
Greetings, everyone. I am reaching out due to my growing concern for my older brother. At 24, he is battling schizophrenia and homelessness. With winter nearing, his predicament worsens, and I am in search of any resources that could aid him.
His instability, compounded by his condition, renders self-care challenging. I am on the lookout for local food pantries, complimentary community meals, shelters, or organizations that can offer assistance, no matter how minor. Any support that could alleviate the severity of his winter would be immensely valued.
The thought of his suffering is heart-wrenching, and I am earnestly seeking ways to support him, as personal interaction can be distressing. Should anyone be aware of services, advice, or resources within our vicinity, kindly share. Immense thanks in advance.
Edit 1: thanks for the replies, as someone else said you’re all wonderful people. 💗
I want to mention that he has been and continues to be resistant to receiving help, making it very difficult because we live in New Hampshire.
My wife's always wanted a classic New England Christmas experience and I'm happy to have found Portsmouth to visit in early December!
I don't mind driving up to about an hour if needed (no further than Portland, ME) and we fly in/out of Boston so we could stop pretty much anywhere between there and Portsmouth. So far I have the following planned but would love some recommendations as we'll be there for 3 nights over the weekend.
Candlelight Stroll at Strawberry Banke
Nubble Lighthouse
Fort Foster Park
Winter Wonders at Sandy Hill Farm
Cryptozoology Museum (if we go to Portland)
We also love seafood and I haven't found the determinate best spot for a lobster roll and/or bisque! I have these restaurants bookmarked to check out:
Elephantine Bakery
Street 360
The Kitchen
Vida Cantina
Appreciate any/all recs. We can't wait to visit!
I’ll be in town first week of November for a show. What seafood places do you recommend? Are there non-touristy things I have to see?
A little spicier than the normal LPG trains we're used to seeing but it's a pretty unique vantage point. Figured I'd give it a share.
Hi Portsmithians! I’m in Dover for work and I was wondering if anyone would like to grab a bite to eat. Long shot I know, but just thought I’d ask. 44 year old non crazy male
Can anyone recommend a place to grab a bite/drink and watch the WNBA championship game on Sunday at 3? (It overlaps with the Patriot’s game, which might be an extra challenge.) Ideally would love to have sound but I’ll take being able to see. Thank you!
Trump campaign spokesperson on CNN allegedly in Manchester NY but clearly Portsmouth NH… is this just like a stock Zoom background now?
This is a major long shot here, but I’m 33f looking for long term apartment in the heart of downtown Portsmouth. I don’t wanna live in one of those big apartment complexes. I’m looking for something cozy and maybe in a historic building or over the top of a restaurant or something. I’ve been doing travel nursing, but fell in love with Portsmouth and decided to move here full time. I signed a two year contract at Portsmouth Regional. I’m sure nobody will ever even see this post but I’m hoping for a miracle lol. My budget is about $2,500/month.
I recently started making chicken bone broth and in search of chicken feet and backs at a reasonable price. Any suggestions other than the Asian market?
Same for beef broth that suggests oxtail which I found at Market Basket for over $10 lbs !?!
Hey everyone. My fiance and I are currently looking into venues for a wedding reception/party. We've got family scattered across the East Coast and Portsmouth, which we've visited and loved, feels like a great central location.
I'm curious if there are any older hotels, buildings, venues, with some historic or cultural charm, that might fit the bill. To be clear, you don't even have to know if they do events. We're just looking for cool places!
Appreciate any help.
