Hello all!

I'm currently writing a story involving Grell and I want to include the opera piece played during the Jack the Ripper sequence in Episode 4 of the anime. The song plays on a gramophone as Grell does her victim's makeup during a thunderstorm, though I'm unsure how to go about searching for the name of the piece. I doubt Shazam would have it in their library. I'm also not very familiar with opera, so I wouldn't know where to start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i really want to buy a pair of these but i’m not sure if i was ceil’s or sebastian’s ; the problem is that i want ceil’s because i love the white ones more but at the same time i was sebastian in my ear telling me to charge my sh*t 😭😭 i still don’t know exactly how i will get myself a pair but when i figure out which one to buy then i’ll figure out the next part then lol… idk is anyone else getting themselves’s a pair ?

black butler was my third anime after glitter force and sailor moon, safe to say it was a complete 180 in tone but i didn’t mind lol. i only watched the first season because it was the only one rated tv-14. but yeah anyways my parents got mad at me 👍 but i don’t regret it much tbh

Just wondering where people lie on the Sebastian emotions spectrum, especially regarding his general natural and his possible affection for Ciel?

I know some people like to push the Father/Son narrative on Ciel and Sebastian's dynamic, and want to believe that Sebastian has even just a tiny tiny tinyyyyy amount of affection for his young master.

But I also have seen others get frustrated with this and say he is a heartless, selfish demon who only views Ciel as a meal and nothing more, and has stated it as simple as that.

So I'm basically wondering where you guys lie with these ideas? Sebastian is such an interesting and complex character.

EDIT: Just to add on perhaps... not just talking about the way he interacts with Ciel and what his relationship might be with him, bit also how he interacts with other characters. Like the servants, or Agni. He seems to hold Agni in some sort of high regard, perhaps appreciating his qualities from a butlers perspective? Or is this a naive approach to Sebastian's character?

I’ve recently caught up with the manga after stopping around 3-4 years ago, and have smashed out the musicals while I’ve been at it. I’ve also rewatched parts of the anime. Full BB brain rot over here.

I’ve been blown away by it all, especially the musicals. You can tell the care that’s gone into them - the way they’ve adapted events contains subtle nods to future manga plot lines (chapter 129 onwards). The fact that we continue to get new anime seasons and musicals to align with the manga bodes really well.

My memory of the anime (season 1 and 2) is that there are some mid parts to it - but it’s nice that we have extra content that can equally be ignored as not canon if we so choose. I remember some excellent episodes in season 1.

I’m really enjoying the current manga arc. It’s tied together some loose ends nicely and has broken my heart in the process.

Now to finish rewatching the anime whilst weathering the manga hiatus. Looking forward to season 5 in April!

Have the character designs changed a bit or is it just me? The previous artstyle looked prettier to me...he doesn't look bad especially when the animation actually flows, but....this new season just seems a bit staitic in animation and the artstyle? I'm really grateful that we got another season but man 😭

I couldn't believe my luck when I saw it in a display case in Mandarake... and then I got the (happy) shock of my life when I saw it isn't even the 10th anniversary reproduction, it's from the original run - the warranty ended in 2010!!! So so happy :")

For me, I'm looking forward to seeing what Soma turns into and his reaction when he meets o!Ciel again... it's amazing how quickly his personality changed, I can't blame him at all. Wil Sebastian have to kill him? It would be a billion times more interesting imo to see Soma forsake God and summon his own demon than the whole Alois Trancy debacle.

And I want the curtain to drop on if her majesty is really as nice as she portrays herself in front of Ciel, or if she's horrendously evil. Wouldn't it be so deliciously cruel if it turns out she's the one who ordered the hit on Vincent? Poor Ciel would be devastated. I could see her working with the Undertaker (who's backstory would be killer) to create the immortal soldiers she hinted at previously. I don't think the Undertaker likes Victoria because of how many Phantomhives have died in service to her, but it could be the opposite as well. I'm still holding on to the theory that her head butler John Brown is a grim reaper (why was he unaffected by the miasma in the forest, how did he get from England to Germany so fast with a horse and on foot? If he's not supernatural in some way, he's the best butler in the series) and if he is one, I'm unclear as to what her motives could be for employing someone like him.

This may seem weird, but does anyone know where I can find a good, extensive quiz about either the anime and/or the manga? (Preferably the manga). I think this is my most watched/read series and I feel confident enough to take a test about it (just for fun, to see how much I really know!) but all the tests I'm finding online are "which character are you" which are fun, too, but still.

This is gonna AGE ME hard, but do any of y'all remember Family Force 5 and their song Chainsaw? I've been listening to FF5 and chainsaw just has GRELL written all over it >w< was there ever an AMV done of it? Or do I need to try and put together a beginner AMV with very limited editing skills like we did back in 09' XD

I read about half the books and watched the show almost a decade ago. I’m back now, rewatching all the new content and probably gonna reread. I’m currently watching the latest season where he goes to Weston.

After rewatching the whole show, i know every season kinda has a different take on the details of ciels story, but what is his ACTUAL backstory? Parents died, he was kidnapped? right? then he signs with sebastian. I guess I’m just confused on the exact timeline of it all since book of circus and season 1 show it a tad differently. (I know season 2 isnt cannon, not wondering bout that).

I recently moved house and a lot of my stuff was in storage for YEARS- found a bag and found these gems. ((Pls ignore the mess))

When I first saw it, the show rewrote everything I thought a story could/would do with Ciel’s death. (Ignore s2 with me it wasn’t out yet when I first saw it)

You come across these impossible ending stories, where the protag has one or two seemingly settled fates before they somehow weasel their way out of it and get the happy ending. That didn’t happen here. The last four or so episodes are dedicated to Ciel coming to terms with his impending death. And then it happened.

Looking back now that I’m older, it wasn’t some heroic or noble sacrifice either. Not really. Here or earlier in the show when Ciel rejected purification. Sure he saved London (though I’d argue the reapers did half the work) but at the end of the day this was a revenge tale. And we got to see how once Ciel got it, how empty yet at the same time, complete it felt. Ciel said he’d disappear if he ever let go of his hatred, and indeed at the end he’s in a sense, already dead. The latter half of episode 24 is Ciel’s funeral procession. The audience is left to slowly accept there’s no other way this could go down. It’s hard to describe the feeling.

I know so many are like “lol s2,” and, “it’s bad because it’s not canon to the manga,” but this ending (and s1 for that matter) meant a lot to me and still does. For all its faults, it’s a decently executed, complete narrative with a satisfying if melancholy ending.

Has the Emerald Witch Arc/ Green witch arc been released in the anime? As far as I recall, it was set to release in 2025. If it hasn't, do we have a tentative date? I saw people in a Facebook group posting about the "emerald witch arc music" So I'm wondering if it's already out and I'm just out of the loop.

I feel like i can never find any kuro merch anywhere, i’ve gone to every store i can think of that sells anime merch and they never have anything, if they do it’s most likely something from like 2009😭 i want something recent, and i thought it would be easy to find since the show has been starting up again. i know i can find stuff online but it’s usually overpriced merch and it’s always from japan which makes shipping so expensive. please help!

Oh my god, this is incredible??

I feel like they’ve done really creative things with the set and projections that was a step up from musical 2 and 3. Yuta Furukawa was, as always, the perfect Sebastian and I hope that he plays this role until the end of time. Reo Uchikawa was my favourite Ciel so far.

I’m now super excited to watch the next two musicals and I’ll cross my fingers that we get the entire series turned into musicals once the manga wraps up.

Can’t believe my high school obsession has come back to smack me in the face in my mid twenties lmao
