Is Kuroko considered a prodigy?

In the second episode of the series, Kuroko states "Those guys are true prodigies" as he refers to the other members of the GoM making a total of 6 players including Kuroko. I don't particularly agree with Kuroko because I do think he is a prodigy. The definition of a prodigy is someone who is talented at a certain skill at birth or at a young age and it isn't something you can work hard towards in most contexts.

Firstly, his exceptional observational skills allowed him to amass his own pseudo emperor eye based on how his teammates play. He was even able devise strategies based on a few plays against his opponents. For example, when he went up against Kise in the semi-finals. Not to mention his natural low presence is something very few people have.

Secondly, his passing skills are his best asset. His misdirection wouldn't' work as well if he wasn't good at passing. If the passes fail then his misdirection would hold no value. What makes his passes so dangerous is there accuracy and magnitude. He can utilize several types of passes with frightening amount of power. His accuracy on his passes is what's most impressive. His final pass to Kagami against their second To'O match is a prime example. He passed the ball right above the hoop allowing Kagami to be in the best position for the dunk. His passing accuracy is nearly 100%! His passing ability alone would make him a prodigy.

If Touou gets the wildcard for winter cup, why are there still 8 schools competing in WC preliminaries?

Hi. I'm a bit confused about the tournament. In Tokyo, only the top eight schools of 4 blocks (two schools each) gets to join the preliminaries of the WC. In block A we have Seirin and Shutoku. I found out that Touou is block B winner. Then if Touou passed WC prelim automatically, wouldn't there be only 7 schools left? How did they include one extra school who wasn't qualified from IH prelim?

I don't know what I missed. Please enlighten me.

WC prelim

Interhigh Prelim

Which GOM could you beat in a fight?

I saw a YouTuber watch the Teiko arc and said he would f*** them up for what they did. And that got me thinking….would you really want to fight any of them? You got an absolute titan, a psychopath who will willingly stab you, the most agile man alive, and a guy that will copy your every move. There’s also Midorima but tbh I wouldn’t want to fight him either. Do you guys think you could take any of them on 1v1?

What would have been a more sustainable way for Kuroko to improve before the Winter Cup?

After Seirin’s first loss against Too Academy, Kuroko came to the conclusion that to improve, he’d have to get stronger himself and make solo moves that would aid him against people like Aomine in games. That led to the Vanishing Drive and the Phantom Shot after the rematch against Too.

But later on, Akashi said this was stupid during the finale because Kuroko removed his lack of presence with flashy moves. He ended up hurting himself more in the long run. People are now more aware of him because of his flashy moves.

That leads to the question, could there have been another way for Kuroko to improve without harming his lack of presence in the long run? What kind of new moves would he have developed?

Himuro is one of my least favorite characters.

So basically he introduced Kagami to basketball then once he was getting better than him he threatened to not be his brother if he beats him? Because of Jealousy!! One of the most selfish characters imo.

Kuroko 2.0

In regards to an earlier post of mine.

https://www.reddit.com/r/KurokosBasketball/s/HsNonVycxb

It seems there are a few major points to think about in regards to making a better Kuroko.

First is his skills in passing. Second is his role as a shadow. Third is his lack of presence. And fourth is his misdirection skills.

It's easy to forget but his lack of presence isn't a requirement for his misdirection skills, but something that inhances them, so theoretically replacing his lack of presence for something else is entirely possible. Like for example Hyuga's skill at 3 pointers, or one of the eye abilities, I know Kuroko has the Quasi-emporer eye, but that only comes from his understanding of people he knows well, aka Teammates both past and present.

One of the responses I got previously was his stamina, which I agree could be better, but his lack of presence begins to wear out before his stamina does.

So ultimately the only way I can think of to make a better Kuroko is one that doesn't rely on a lack of presence at all. But maybe someone like Himuro who trained a bit in misdirection and has an emphasis on passing, rather than making plays themselves.

Who is Kotoro Hayama based on?

I like Hayama’s playstyle and I want to know who he is based on. Some say Paul George which I can understand but I feel like it’s someone else.

What would be the most impacting match for the first practice game against Seirin?

I am re-watching (again) and this thought came to my mind, what GOM would be more traumatizing or/and motivational for Seirin to Play his first game? And who would make the wildest gap?

Edit 1 : I think that would be yosen, serin is a ofensivo team, and get this shred into pieces just because the size (we know that wasn't just that but its the more visible aspect), could be something very traumatizing/motivational.

Jokic is literally Kuroko,

His passes with one hand is insane. One time he didn’t even know if the ball was coming his way or not, then he slightly adjusted with one hand and passed it

Not even mentioning passing to his back. Idk how did he even see his teammate there

Haizaki is NOT a GOM member.

Saw someone rant about this and had to fire back.

The first lines in the anime.

Teiko middle school basketball club. An incredibly strong team with over 100 members and 3 consecutive championship wins. Within their brilliant record the generation of FIVE prodigies was known as the "Generation of miracles"

This is proven within the first 20 seconds of screen time in season 1 episode 1.

Also in the first minute two members are shown who are considered to be more important by the GOM themselves the first obvious one being Kuroko who is mentioned to be acknowledged as one of the GOM by the main 5 members.

And just to rub a little dirt in the eyes of Haizaki fanbois the second is Satsuki whose work as a scout and a manager brought them invaluable intel and would have been more valuable than anything haizaki could have done as the 7th most important member of the team. If the games weren't total blow outs she would have probably gotten even more credit but the GOM was already so OP they blew everyone out.

Haizaki was for sure the 5th best on the team even for a short time after his departure but you might remember the line from akashi about how haizaki's value to the team was irrelevant because the rate at which kise a first time player was developing was proof that eventually haizaki would become completely obsolete and inferior to kise, even telling haizaki that asking him to quit the team was for his own good because he wouldn't be able to mentally process or accept that an upstart would almost instantly become better than him during that season and that he could save face by retiring before that happened. Kise likely surpassed him almost immidiately after.

Also for those who forgot you might remember the whole beef with kise in the first place was that haizaki felt he was worthy of the title and not kise. Although almost everyone acknowledged at this point kise was in fact superior. Any doubt that that was the case should have been erased immidiately when kise activated perfect copy and took him to school.

Kise even mentions as early as episode 3 that he doesn't really care much for the title because he felt like the other 4 were distinctly above him which they were at that point in the story prior to him being able to perfect copy.

So consider that checkmate if you thought otherwise.

ANYONE WHO SAYS HAIZAKI ISN’T GoM ARE CLOWNS😭

We all know Haizaki isn’t the greatest person but when it comes to his skills and the information we got for him anyone with a brain knows he’s a GoM. Ya’ll just discard his talent cause of how you feel and it’s childish just give him his credit while hating him at least😂

Is a season 4 after all this time still even slightly possible

I really love the show and basketball and I would be sad if the show ended there without us seeing more from the gom especially since their only first years. Even though they are abnormally good already it would be crazy if we saw more.

Kise vs Kagami 2

I don't know, but I think Kagami was nerfed in his second matchup against Kise. He could've used zone to counter perfect copy. It made me wonder: why couldn't he enter the zone in this match? He was clearly overwhelmed by the perfect copy; shouldn't that be a trigger for him to activate it?

Would rakuzan have beaten seirin if Akashi was playing like himself from the start.

At the end of the game he gets rid of his other personality and then gets all his other teammates in the zone. If he played like this from the start would they have won?

My biggest pet-peeve

When I first started watching KNB, it was before I got into basketball actually. As the years went on I really really got into basketball at all levels, and as I did I’ve rewatched KNB like 100 times. None of my pet peeves come from the unrealistic moves and I can even look past some of the stuff that just are against the rules like how every time someone pump fakes they actually jump off the ground or aomines dribbling.

However, something that I always find hard to watch is whenever they explain the state of the game in the show. Some few examples that come to mind are kiyoshis “right of postponement” midorima stating that in a game you should NEVER take your eyes off the ball, anytime someone explained how the control of the game is dictated and so on.

Suppose Akashi obliged

What would the score have been in the third year Final of Teiko vs Meiko if Akashi had made everyone oblige to Kuroko's request

I feel like it would've been a 200- 0 score

Midorima

As we all know midorima does “everything humanly possible to win” so why didn’t he join rakuzan since they definitely had the strongest team?
