The new boarding house (fan fiction)

🌅 🏠

Sunset Arms, the boarding house Arnold grew up in, gets bequeathed to him when his grandpa dies. He turns it into a mixed-use office and residential building.

Arnold converts his childhood bedroom to his office and holds therapy sessions there (he’s a shrink/MFT). Helga has an office next door to his where she hosts AA meetings and meets with sponsors.

None of the ppl that lived there when Arnold was a kid are still there. Ernie, Mr. Huynh, Susie, Oskar, all those ppl retired and moved away. But Susie kicked Oskar out for good before she left. Well, Grandma Gertie spent her last years there, living to be over 100 and seeing her great grandchildren. Its all new characters there now.

Helga and Arnold don’t live there- they have their own place with the kids and dog, but they are the same mom-and-pop operation for the place as Phil and Gertie were. They collect rent from ppl, deal with maintenance and ppl’s shenanigans.

What’s your opinion on the Harold x Rhonda pairing?

I like it, I feel Harold changes Ronda for the picture, example the egg episode.

The Shortmans get a dog (fan fiction)

🐶

Olga adopts a dog to fill an empty nest when her son goes away to college. A friendly black lab. She has sister Helga, brother-in-law Arnold, her niece and nephew watch it when she is outta town. On another occasion the Shortmans cat sit for Harold and Big Patty.

“Mommy and daddy, why don’t we have a dog?,” Amber asks. “I don’t know. We’ll think about it,” Arnold tells his daughter. When the kids are asleep one night, Helga and Arnold discuss the situation.

“Arnoldo, our daughter does have a point. Why don’t we have pets?”, asked Helga.

“I guess I never thought about that,” said Arnold, “we’ve had other things going on, and I guess neither of us had orthodox pets growing up. I had a pig. You had that monitor lizard that ate the bird that escaped to my place.”

“Yeah I mean criminy, Bob and Miriam couldn’t take care of me most of the time. No way could they be trusted with dogs or cats,” said Helga.

Arnold acknowledges that and says they might as well look into pets and that it would be good for the kids.

So they adopt a retired racing greyhound, like Santa’s Little Helper in the Simpsons. They name him Mickey after the baseball star Mickey Kaline. But Mickey gets lost a few days later.

“Nice going football head. You get us a dog and he runs away,” said Helga. “We’ll find him,” said Arnold.

So the same thing happens as the episode where Abner the pig runs away. They post lost dog signs all around town. Mickey is seen back at the race tracks he used to run in. Then he sees his face on the poster and runs like the wind back to the Shortmans. “Told ya,” said Arnold, winking at Helga as Mickey gets some belly rubs and affectionately licks them.

Brainy is still at it (fan fiction)

👀 🧠

Helga cuddles in Arnold’s arms as they sit on the couch watching tv. They have sex. She goes into labor and gives birth. She has meetings with ppl she sponsors in AA. She bakes birthday cakes for her son and daughter.

As all of this happens, Brainy watches her. After so many years. The kiss in the jungle movie didn’t seem to be enough for him. Other than getting taller and growing some facial hair, he’s still the same wheezing peeper he was at 9-10 years old. But Helga doesn’t punch him as much as she used to.

Eugene comes out (fan fiction)

🏳️‍🌈

Eugene comes out as gay in high school. Arnold was the first person he came out to. There was the fiasco with his bike back in the day and he thought Arnold jinxed him. But he came to realize that Arnold was the nicest, most genuine, trustworthy dude ever. And he was right.

Sheena kinda had a thing for him. So after he came out to Arnold he asked her to homecoming so he could tell her. She understood despite some disappointment. Then it got easier. Mr. Simmons was everyone’s favorite fourth grade teacher and they knew he was gay so for most of his other friends it was no big deal.

He moved to West Hollywood and got a job as a comic book writer for the Marvel/DC of the HA universe that published The Abdicator.

Typical Eugene- the way he met his future husband: slipping on a wet floor and the guy caught him. The PS 118 gang goes down to their wedding, more on that later.

This really bites (fan fiction)

👃🏀

Stinky P. makes it to the NBA. He grows to like 6-10. Played power forward. Then he becomes an tv color commentator, wanting to prove the Yahoo soda ppl wrong. They had picked him for the commercial in that one episode b/c they thought he was ridiculous.

“This really bites” becomes one of on-air catch phrases. “This really bites for LeBron to miss a shot like that.” Lol.

He marries a cheerleader for one of the teams he plays for. They meet up with the PS 118 gang at Eugene’s wedding (more on that later).

Chocolate Man (fan fiction)

🍫 😵‍💫

Amber (Helga and Arnold’s daughter) gets caught red handed getting a cookie from the cupboard. The Shortmans gave their kids a rule of no sweets except on weekends. This is a weekday. Helga scolds her and puts her in timeout.

“Can you tell her the Chocolate Boy story?”, asked Helga. “Yeah, I got this,” said Arnold.

So Arnold goes into his daughter’s room and tells her about a kid he and her mom knew in school that was addicted to chocolate and had a hard time. Yeah, he tells her about Chocolate Boy. “You don’t wanna be like him, do you? And you won’t if you have sugar sometimes but not all the time.”

A little while later Arnold runs into the guy that was Chocolate Boy and is now Chocolate Man. He didn’t last long on radishes. He works at a cannabis dispensary with edibles. “Lotsa weed!! Lotsa chocolate!,” Arnold overhears him saying. So yeah he’s a stoner and still into chocolate.

Eugene

Eugene has shown the propensity to soak up massive amounts of damage through many episodes. A question is, do you think any fictional character could defeat him? I think he could tank any attack Thanos could throw at him, or any other character for that matter.

The Shortmans episode/story sketch- Maternity Coffee

🤰☕️

Ok time for another fan fiction short Shortman story sketch. This one is called ‘Maternity Coffee.’

Helga is waiting in line at a coffee shop. She is pregnant with her and Arnold’s second kid. Just starting to show. She and Phoebe are going to meet at the coffee shop. They don’t see each other as much b/c they have little kids and Phoebe works late hours for her gig as a hospital neurologist. But they are still BFFs.

Phoebe shows up a little later, in scrubs. They meet at a table and hug. A discussion over coffee ensues.

They talk about what’s up with their kids. Gerald Jr. is at the zoo with Gerald Sr. Arnold took Phil to Miles and Stella’s place for grandparent bonding time.

Phoebe says it seems like just yesterday they were all kids at PS 118. Then she jokes, “who’s next to get married and have kids, Rhonda and Curly?”

Helga laughs, then says no one seems to have heard from Curly in ages and that Rhonda was working for a fashion company in LA last she heard.

Helga goes into how she wants to become an AA sponsor and host AA mtgs. when she’s done with maternity leave. She doesn’t want Arnold to have to save her all the time, like getting her sober and getting her the boarding house bldg. mgr. job.

Phoebe thinks that is a great idea and that Arnold would be proud of her. Then her phone buzzes, she checks the text and says she has to go, work stuff. The two say they will meet again soon.

That night, Helga and Arnold tuck their toddler son Phil goodnight. They press his little hand against Helga’s bump so that he can feel his baby sister kicking. Then they walk down the hallway of their pad to the living room couch.

Arnold asks Helga how the coffee with Phoebe went. She tells him about her idea to do AA stuff she told Phoebe about and he thinks it sounds great. He says she shouldn’t have felt shy to say things like that and they can work it out when they get to it. He points out how she knows whats it’s like to be an alcoholic and have a parent that is one and he doesn’t.

They kiss and he kisses her bump. Then they cuddle as Arnold turns on the tv and channel surfs. Outside, Brainy is wheezing in front of the window. He has heard their entire conversation. All these years later he still stalks her. But Helga ignores him and nods off in Arnold’s arms.

The Shortmans story/episode sketch- Catch

⚾️ Ok this is my next fan fiction short Shortman story sketch. This one is called ‘Catch’. It takes place several years after the last one that ended with Helga going to rehab.

Starts with Helga carrying a baby- her and Arnold’s son, and placing him in his crib to go to sleep. Long story short: since that check into rehab she got sober, married Arnold and now they have this baby son Phil. Picture baby Arnold in ‘The Journal’ episode flashbacks, Phil looks just like that but with Helga’s unibrow.

All the newborn baby stuff like crying, teething, changing diapers, breastfeeding would be exhausting for anyone obv. but this is Helga G. She gets worked up. But hey this is baby football head so she’s also crazy in love. She pulls the same Jekyll-Hyde act she did w/ Arnold.

Anyways she gets a text from Olga asking if Arnold can play catch with Donny (her son). When she asks Arnold he says he can as long as it doesn’t cut into his baby bonding time. Helga says “I’ll give you an hour or so, football head, don’t be gone too long!”

A few days later at a city park- Arnold playing catch with his nephew Donny, who is trying baseball. Donny is short for Donatello, like the purple-masked ninja turtle and renaissance painter. His dad is in prison and grandpa not around much so Olga sees Arnold as his best male role model around. Even if he’s barely old enough to be his dad.

Kinda like Scottie Smalls in the Sandlot, Donny is awkward at first. After a while Arnold works w/ him and he starts catching some. Arnold says catching is easier than hitting. He tells Donny the story of when he caught the last home run hit by Mickey Kaline.

A week or so later Arnold and Helga are pushing baby Phil in a stroller towards a little league baseball field. They are going to see Donny’s first game. Olga meets them in the bleachers where she has saved them seats.

Donny strikes out. Olga turns to Helga and says, “I’m kinda glad dad isn’t here to see this.” Helga, while bottle-feeding Phil, says, “yeah, the last thing Donny needs is the Pataki pep talk.” They had both pictured Big Bob livid at the sight of his grandson swinging and missing. At the time Bob and Miriam were there usual negligent selves, at a golf course somewhere.

After the game Donny says, “you were right Uncle Arnold. Catch is easier than hitting.” Arnold replies, “next time let’s go to the batting cages.”

The Shortmans story/episode sketch- After the intervention

❤️‍🩹 This next short Shortmans story sketch takes place right after my first one about Helga’s intervention.

Arnold is sitting down to dinner w/ his parents. He fills them in on the intervention.

Stella says ‘Poor Helga, she was always such a nice girl.’

Miles says that grandpa (his dad) told them all about how Helga had an eye on him before they dated.

Arnold says yeah and that part of him still has feelings for her. But that they are adults now, this is serious. He doesn’t wanna be a codependent or anything like that.

Miles is like yeah of course not. But what grandpa also told him and Stella was how good Arnold was at helping ppl. He has a gift. And they noticed it as soon as they came back into his life. So the thing w/ Helga is a reminder of that if nothing else.

Stella says yeah Miles is 💯 right and maybe Arnold could be a counselor, psychologist, therapist etc. some day. & says he could always find someone else to run the boarding house.

A little later Arnold is on a video chat with Gerald. He tells him about the intervention and about how his parents think he should be a shrink. Gerald is like are you kidding? Yeah you’d be such a natural @ that. Remember all the ppl you set straight? Even the Jolly Olly Man. & now Pataki has you right where she wants you.

Arnold thinks long & hard about where he is @ in life, his deal w/ Helga, what his parents and Gerald told him etc.

A little later he drives Helga to a sober living house. Car parks, she gets luggage out. He gets out and says ‘I’m not going anywhere, ok?’ Helga nods, they kiss and hold hands, then she takes her luggage and walks to the house.
