Hey Everyone,
I recently received an acceptance letter for the MEDS program. While I have previously browsed reddit for information regarding the program and its curriculum, there is not much information about first hand alum or current participants experiences. While I can probably reach out to reps through the UCSB site, I curious about opinions off the schools website. Since (I think) the program is relatively new, there isnt much data about post graduate experiences as well. If you've done the program, any advice or reflections you have that would've enhanced your experience?
Moreover, during my undergrad, I focused on studies more than social life. While graduate studies will be more challenging and time consuming, I do want to be active in recreation/interest groups and create a community or social life. I know outdoor activities are big here.
Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated. Or links to other things that might aid in this like for off-campus housing etc. Ill be going through the Bren website in depth. I just want to be as prepared as I can be and start on the right foot as I havent been academics for a few years.
Thanks
trying to look for an old post of mine but not sure if it’s just me noticing the page is gone?
is sidewalk chalk art only "allowed" in specific parts of campus (like the area in front of UCEN/storke plaza or in front of the library?) campus regulations code says all chalking is considered vandalism but there's chalk art in front of UCEN every day, so is this something they don't enforce? will they hose it off after a day?
I graduated last year and will be visiting IV to celebrate a friend's birthday. So it's also been a minute since I last took the EOS bus.
Just to confirm with others, is the EOS bus still around and set up by Little Acorn Park/ 7- Eleven? Do any of you also happen to know if they will be running this Friday? Thank you!
hi so i keep getting advice to join clubs to make new friends but everytime i try it ends up being super cliquey and i feel like i would have to beg to be friends with them. does anyone have any club recommendations where i can actually make friends
I know for sale things aren’t allowed, not sure if for free are? I have a bike i want to give away to a ucsb student. I would post on the buy nothing sb fb group but since i was gifted the bike while i was at ucsb and it helped me a lot, i want to pay it forward in a way to another ucsb student. Must pick up in goleta, dm if interested!
Hey all. Let’s show the USA that the people are united against dictatorship and illegal abuse of power. This protest is associated with a larger movement for this wednesday. The more the merrier! PLEASE show up and show out. Bring signs and show your support.
I’m currently taking a class but I’m thinking of dropping but it would put me at 8 units, I have a middle class scholarship and a cal grant and I’m scared if I drop it could affect my future aid? And today’s the last day to drop without a w?
Hi guys I have a question. Currently I’m taking 14 units, but I want to switch my major to econ which will not require a class I’m currently taking. The class I’m taking is 4 units, so if I drop it I will be below 12 units. However today is the last day to drop without a W and I’m currently failing the class and probably will not pass even though I changed it to pass no pass. If I drop the class will i lose any financial aid I currently have? I’ve done some research into it and as long as I have 12 or more at a certain date it said that I will still receive aid, however I’m not really sure if that’s true, I’m just wondering if anybody else has been in my situation and can tell me how that affected their financial aid.
just wondering if u need like to register or something? also when is the next one
Is apple pay accepted to buy stuff at ucsb and like at the food court area
anyone know why there are two helicopters surrounding campus right now?
So loud.
Where can I find different questions chapter wise to practice. I prefer questions labeled with chapter numbers but I can make do with just questions. It’s hard to know the correct answers for the questions in the book because chat got doesn’t always give the correct answer.
Hi everyone, I'm an exchange student and intend to take CHIN176 Chinese Global Cinema in the following spring quarter. Has anyone taken the course before, and can I request a copy of the syllabus? I want to get an overview of the course to check if it can fulfill my major requirement at my home uni. Thank you so much!!!
I’m Pre-Econ/Accounting wondering what the difference in value for the major and which is harder
I have a pretty hard quarter coming up and I’m looking for a class that would fill some GEs but also be pretty easy + minimal work. Preferably area E, WRT, world cultures, or ethnicity.
See the drop deadline and other important dates under your "registration" tab.
Financial Aid census happened last week, so there should not be any repercussions on that front, but if you want to proceed with an abundance of caution, contact FA via qless.
First year frosh and transfers have until week 10 to change a grading optional course from an LG to P/NP, so if you're in this boat and are still fighting it out in a course and not ready to throw in the towel, you, too, have options.
Has anyone taken it with Vigoda? How was it? (Especially in comparison to 130A/B with him)
I am a first year and I am interested in a Pre-Dental path. I passed Chem 1A (with a B) and I am currently taking Chem 1B. Though I passed Chem 1A with a decent grade I feel as though the amount of stress and anxiety that course created was more so than the average person.
I went to an academically rigorous high school and was always in this sort of flight or fight academic mindset (in that i study aggressively for hours at a time until i have nothing left to give). As I have grown I realized that it isn’t healthy but I feel like I can do well in classes without having unhealthy study habits.
This past week I have been studying for a Chem 1B final and decided to try a more healthy approach to studying (not breaking down and tweaking out to the point that my friends worry about me) and I feel so unprepared.
I am most anxious about the fact that if I don’t do well in Chem 1B (basic chemistry) how am I supposed to continue on to Ochem?
I guess I am just looking for reassurance: Does everyone feel like this? Is it possible to pursue a Pre-Health career if I am not exceptionally good at Chemistry. Can I pursue Pre-Health with B’s and C’s? Have other Pre-Health students failed a core class/midterm??
Sorry this was so long but I am anxious.
anyone tried zipcar recently? trying to go on a trip 2 hrs away and was wondering if theyre reliable
Is there any other way to get cheaper tickets, I found a code for the surfliner but I still think 50-60 bucks is a lot from sb to van nuys especially when I go home often
I'm a second year chem major. Last year + fall quarter were amazing academically, I did really really well. This quarter has been really rough😭 i never thought I would suffer from burn out but I just have no motivation. I failed my first test in college and my confidence is in the dirt- even though I know I just didn't study hard enough. anyways, 3/3 midterms went terrible (my fault completely) and I'm just feeling soooo terrible. I know it's my fault, and I want to snap out of it. Anyways I just wrote this post to say that anyone going through a bad quarter is not alone and it isn't going to be reflective of our whole performance in college.
I wasn’t going to type this out but considering how I just randomly developed symptoms I thought I needed to speak on this.
I had been seeing a girl here for a few weeks now. Unfortunately I’m pretty sure I caught an STI from her as she was the only person I was seeing, and I had been tested before I was with her.
I’m pretty frustrated because I’ve never caught one before. I had asked this girl a few times about STI’s when we first started having sex to make myself feel better and to clear up any doubts. Up until a certain point we were having protected sex but she insisted on me going raw recently. Any other people with similar experiences here? Also how is student health with this type of stuff? How have you approached someone that passed an STI to you?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would know of any summer online courses for the summer that would count towards math 4b here, like a cc or smth, thank you!
