I struggle to understand how any land owner with any sense of humanity can justify raising rents by 10% annually. This increase has been imposed upon us every single year for the last 4 years and despite my best efforts to explain the difficulties the increase burdens the household, I am met with zero compassion. At this point in time in my life I feel as though any land owner has no regard for the common person's plight, they simply don't give a damn and only see the desire of profit. They are not interested in helping the community by being stewards of the less fortunate by any means, they just want money. Please explain to me why this ok and at what point will we break?
Is upper oso open for dirt bike riding? S
Haven’t been in a long time. Tried calling tonight and the line just rings a dozen times or so before it disconnects. The website is just links to places to buy pool tables. Is that place done for?
Just saw a post about a lesbian looking for lesbians. Figured I might as well make a post as a heterosexual woman looking for a heterosexual man. I need to find a straight man soon otherwise I gotta move out of this town.😂
Edit: straight young single men 😘
I'm from SM and thought it would be fun to take a trip to Las Vegas on Allegiant from our airport. Has anyone here done it and would you recommend it as an easy way to get to and from Vegas?
Not saying this definitely is one, but this is very suspicious and seems like a good way to round people up and also impose punishments on UCSB students who try to participate.
I was in Ventura prior to SB for a year (ugh) so I know it could be slightly worse, but MAN, the water here tastes like dinosaur bones. Not only does it taste like sh*t (in my humble opinion), it also makes everything crusty and near impossible to clean. I've tried so many products and nothing can really deal with it easily.
But now, we own a townhouse. I've had a consult with Augies and another company for RO systems. But then I read in this sub that RO actually wastes a lot of water? I dont want to have that on my conscience with all this drought :(
So what are the best options? I know a countertop system is good for drinking water, but my concern is around the counters, appliances... Is there a filtration system of a different sort that could make the water less crusty?
(My dentist back in my home city told me it's affecting my teeth too.. yeesh haha)
Since a lot of stores have been out of eggs frequently and you’ve needed good timing on deliveries and restocks, here’s a notification that Bristol Farms has plenty right now. They were restocking the area as I arrived just before lunch. And I’ve usually had good luck at the farmers markets if you end up missing the train. Happy hunting ✌️
Does anyone have a contractor recommendation for an ADU build? Let me know!!
Hi all! My partner is having a birthday this upcoming weekend, and we are looking for a breweries downtown/funk zone that serve pitchers to share. Topa Topa only serves individually. We would also need seating for around 10 people. Thanks in advance!
Anyone had good experiences around town?
I've always done my taxes for free via one of the apps (cash app taxes last 2 years), but it feels worth it to see if there are things I could/should be doing differently since its been a decade or so since I last thought about it.
I'd describe my situation as moderate complexity from a tax perspective. income is mostly w2 with some investments, there are 3 of us (wife + kid) and a mortgage.
https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/ci40176402/executive 2.8 Did you feel it?
They were my absolute jam in high school. They are playing a show that seems too small for resale tix on the normal websites. I had no idea they were back together until it was sold out. I would very much appreciate it.
Hi everyone! My partner and I are looking for a studio or 1 bedroom anywhere in Santa Barbara or Goleta for <$2100 (ideally).
Many of the places we’ve looked at are available now. We’ve yet to find a landlord that has leases available in June.
How early do leases typically become available? When should we be worried about not having a lease secured? (We both went to UCSB, so we’re used to signing veryyyy in advance)
I’m not sure how to go about this. I’ve been noticing that my neighbors have been getting dog (apartment complex) which is fine and all, I mean i got a dog myself but the issue comes that ive been seeing A LOT of dog poop around the area and some neighbor condos have put up signs to pick up after your dog but I still been seeing it everywhere. That’s till today I just saw my neighbor who first has his dog unleashed running around and going to the bathroom and I don’t see him picking it up. I kinda figured it was him but never confirmed it til now. But I don’t even know how to go about it cause if I go to the building manager I might ruin the other neighbors with dogs including myself but if I confront him I don’t wanna start issues between us because he’s a kid and just has that look of no caring, i’ve ever seen him yell at his dog.
Curious if there are other lesbians here? I feel like there’s a small gay male scene but a non existent lesbian one. Would love to see a bigger gay community here
Spending a couple of weekends in SB around work travel at the end of Feb and looking for really good dim sum. Would really prefer a place that serves Bak Tong Gou (steamed white sugar rice cake), which is kind of my barometer of how good the place's dim sum is.
I've seen China Pavillion's menu, but I was hoping to find more of a mom n pop shop.
Already planning to try out Gino's pizza and Rori's ice cream as well, open to suggestions from anyone for great local stuff.
Hi all - the home that we were supposed to stay in for my bachelorette canceled due to the owners having to move in while they are restoring their home from the tragic fires. We aren't crazy, everyone but me is a mom, but I am struggling to find accommodations on the VRBO, SB Vacation Rentals, etc that would work for 12 of us that is more than 2 bathrooms and not $15k per night. Looking for April 3rd to 6th this year, any leads are wonderful! Hoping to stay in close proximity to SB or Montecito. THANK YOU!
My doc wants me to join a gym, problem is I'm a slight germaphobe. Not hardcore germaphobe, I just internally freak out a little more with visual dirt/sweat...
Are there gyms in SB known for being a little cleaner?
Hi all,
Who (if any) are some lenders/lending companies in the area that you would recommend?
I've done some research myself too- just hoping someone here has some lived experience/insights they might want to share. Thanks!
Word on the street is that you can exchange coins for cash with less fee at a credit union with a coin machine, anybody know of any with the right equipment?
Thank you to everyone who made it to the Lodge's first DTC, it was totally sold out and we had a great time!
Don't Tell Comedy is coming back to the Masonic Lodge - Valentine's Day! Secret Comedy Show in Downtown on 2/14/25 | Don't Tell Santa Barbara
Since we sold out last time and we're so close to LA we got a ton of great talent. Everyone we got would normally be the closer at a smaller show, so they were all great. It seemed like after the third comic they started letting them go a little long, so we got extra show!
Last time someone offered tours but then couldn't make it to the show, so I scrambled to put a tour together and it was kind of a disaster, but I have no shame, so I'll offer another disaster of a tour. Just grab me, I'm the guy with the mohawk haircut that says I'm totally unemployable. Hopefully we get proper tour guides this time, I know people got left out last time. Or DM me and I maybe I can meet you for a private tour on another date.
Come enjoy VD with the lodge brothers!
(They told me to stop saying that, BUT I WON'T)

Me and hubby got very happy reading about this because Trump 2.0 is obviously really terrifying and depressing. Rent strike + general strike 2025!! <3 <3 <3
