Staying at Crown Plaza for the night, good place to get some drinks and maybe some music? Thanks!
Where is the best RV storage facility in the area? We have a smaller RV.
Anyone taking the CA bar exam in February? I would like to start a study group to keep us all accountable.
DM if interested.
I just want to give a shout out to whoever has taken all the campaign signs down, whether it's the candidates themselves or the City or whoever. Driving around the last few days I haven't seen a single sign still up anywhere. So great! 👏
I.
Anyone know where I can drop off donations?
Anyone hear that?
So I just saw a video of the entire fairgrounds parking lot full of fire trucks. I was planning to park my car in the Amtrak parking section tomorrow morning until Monday night as my son and I will be taking the train to the airport and back.
Is there somewhere else I can park that’s safe and right by the train station? We won’t be getting back until 9-9:30pm on Monday so I wanted to have my car available rather than asking for a ride to and from.
Just curious about why there seems to still be a lot of undeveloped land and farming plots (which is great) and surprised the population is around 100k only? Seems like an ideal place to live all things considered. Visiting from LA and amazed at how clean and relaxed it is out here. Went to city hall, the botanical garden, the park with the cross, down to the pier and promonade and then downtown before checking out the Ventura harbor area. I get you get a decent amount of tourism and costs to live here have probably skyrocket as most places in socal has but to me it feels like an underrated gem. Wondering if you think population will probably double in the next decade or so? Love walkable and safe the downtown area is and id assume more people would come out here to vacation but most of the beach and tourist areas were pretty empty today.
Hello, so first of all, condolences to all those who are having a hard time with the fire, I hope it gets contained soon.
I had a weekend getaway planned in Ventura (one of the hotels near the pier) tomorrow to Sunday and I was wondering if it's still safe/a good idea to go on this trip with the fire going on. How is the air quality? Will we pretty much be bound to the hotel? Will we smell a lot of the fire/smoke walking around downtown Ventura/sitting in restaurants? Of course, it might be different tomorrow, but wanted to check if we'd be better off postponing the trip.
I have to drive from LA to Ventura Saturday morning and back again that evening. I'm having a hard time finding sources that show the current fire boundaries or expected growth/containment. Those in the area, are you expecting any threats to the 101 that would require closure over the weekend?
I know about https://www.fire.ca.gov/incidents/2024/11/6/mountain-fire
This seems to be saying that the 126, 118, and 101 are open. I am surprised. Is that right? Is there a better source of information? I'm trying to get in this weekend from the Victorville area to my parents in NE Ventura to help with house work and be ready to evacuate if needed.
Hi!! I was supposed to come for the wild child concert tomorrow night at Ventura music hall, but with some illnesses and the fires we aren’t going to come after all. Anyone interested in buying the tickets? Message me if interested.
I keep getting the same nostalgic feeling from the Thomas fire I even think it also happens in November 2017/8?? as well I remember not celebrating Christmas because of the fire.
Any suggestions for small local deli style sandwich shops would be great. Preferably in Ventura but don’t mind going to a neighboring city.
I used to go to sandwich shops more often and enjoyed choosing from the different options on the sandwich order form and getting a cold bottle of root beer to go along.
Been driving around today handing out face masks, water, dog food etc to vulnerable/impacted community members, and I’m wondering if there’s any centers in the area that could take a bulk donation and disperse the supplies faster—is anyone aware of any centers taking donations for homeless, evacuees, etc right now? Thanks in advance!
Hello,
Does anyone have any word on if the fire has hit around Avenida De Aprisa???
[UPDATE: i bought a cat carrier and packed my important docs/a pair of clothes. I'm home now. thank you to everyone who gave me feedback, i needed it]
Firstly, my thoughts go out to those in real danger. I'm sorry your lives are being turned upside down
I'm worried. I know I shouldn't be this worried, but I am. I'm bugging my friends about it, but sharing my worry helps me feel better.
Also, soot is brown, right? there's brown dust in my house. My nose is sore and I keep sniffling but idk if that's just psychological.
edit: east Ventura as in 7 miles from evacuation zone.
Does anyone know if they got the alpacas out? We were just there Saturday for Farm Day and I can’t stop thinking about them.
I'm looking to get a gym membership somewhere in town. Pre-pandemic I had a membership at the Y and am not opposed to going back, but I wonder what other options are out there. If I was made of money, I'd do Pierpont, but that's totally out of the question. Thanks!
Not mine, but I saw the post and wanted to share.
In case anybody needs a little extra help, the YMCA has open doors for everyone. Stay safe and I hope you’re all well ❤️
Wife and I planned on coming this weekend for our anniversary staying at Crowne Plaza. Should we cancel and go somewhere else?? Thanks!
