Attempting to declare a double major in CE in addition to Applied Physics but missing AM 20 / Math 24.
I’ve talked to advisors and Physics 116a is not a valid substitute for AM 20 despite ECE 101 accepting it. They mentioned submitting an appeal, but weren’t too sure about my odds.
Wondering if anyone have any similar experiences or could speak to the likelihood of success? Or should I just bite the bullet and take AM 20?
Does anyone know why they removed ucsc campus? Will it come back?
I'm very thankful for the past 3 months they provided everyone free laundry 🥺🙏
Hello! I'm currently a 4th year MCD Bio major set to graduate Fall 2024.
Since summer 2023, I've been residing in a 1 bed 1 bath alone at the Hilltop. Due to a work opportunity and a family situation that came unexpectedly, I think my time in Santa Cruz will have to end sometime early next year. The location of my place is poolside and normally quiet, even with people hanging around the pool and patio area during the evenings. Rent is about $3800 plus about $50-120 for utilities. It might be too much for a single, but the space is large enough for two people to live comfortably. Over the past year I've kept the place pretty clean and maintenance has been easy to reach (I've had the dishwasher and screen door fixed).
But overall, it's a very safe place to live and close to campus with a bus stop right in front of the complex. If anyone, or if you know anyone looking for housing in early 2025 please let me know. I'll be open to set up an appointment for a possible tour as well throughout the rest of the month. In the meantime, good luck with finals everyone!
Looking for a math tutor starting winter quarter, willing to pay as I need specific help on relearning some math. Lmk if anyone is interested
idk why they made your picture so huge but i say what's up every time i log in
hope you're doing well
Hello all!
A group of students and I have created a lost and found website. We wanted to create a uniform platform where people could post about items they may have found and lost instead of letting posts scattered over various social media be buried in the feed. We hope this way people are able to reconnect with their items much more quickly!
The site is still in early development, but we have managed to implement many of the core features we wanted to. We hope to get some feedback from you all on the site and its usability! Thank you for any input you may provide.

Just went to slug stop near the book store to stock up on some sealables and spend some points. Put like a decent amount of soup and some other snacks in my lil basket and at the register when chatting I let them know I wanted to try and donate the soup I'm getting. The cashier then told me there's a limit of 2 of each item in the store??? I've never had this happen and have bought like tons of the same thing in the past. Is this a new policy near the end of the year or was the cashier j being rly weird?
Trying therapy/counseling for the first time and have agreed with seeing Julia Ragen as my counselor/therapist. I'm unsure about the distinction tbh (if someone can clarify that'd be great), but she is listed as a counselor. This concerns be because it gives me the impression that she may be less qualified to address the things i'd like to address.
I’m just wondering if anybody could tell me about their experience with CAPS counseling and especially with Julia Ragen.
She seems very friendly and open, like somebody you can speak to openly. My only concern would be her expertise I suppose, but then again, I have no idea what to expect from therapy/counseling.
So yeah, I’m just hoping to get some insights on what CAPS is like, with Julia Ragen if you can speak on that.
Hi everyone, My name is Ethan I’m looking for someone to fill my room in my apartment. I’m transferring schools so the place is available from now through July. The rent for the room is about 1,600 a month but I’m willing to work with you if it’s just slightly out of your price range. Because I’m trying to get the room filled ASAP. My apartment is walking distance to downtown (it’s so nice to walk back from the bars) and has a pool and a 1 car garage but also has another parking space. The place is a 2bed/1bathroom with a 1 yr lease and I’ll attach pictures of the room. There are 2 guys both juniors living in the second room and are some of the nicest and sweetest guys I’ve ever met. Please let me know if you or anyone you know would be interested in moving in!
Ordered something for Black Friday sales. It was supposed to arrive sometime this week but still hasn't shipped. Mailroom website is absolutely useless. Anyone know what the hours are normally like?
I’m trying therapy for the first time and just agreed to see Julia Ragen as my therapist/counselor through CAPS on campus (can anyone clarify the difference between those for me?).
She seems like a very open and friendly person who could be a nice somebody to open up to. But i’m unsure on what to expect from therapy, her’s especially.
So if anybody has had her as a therapist/counselor and could share their experiences with her that would be appreciated. Also anybody who can just educate me a little more on therapy overall would also be appreciated!
Heya! Sorry y'all have seen so much of me asking about this stuff on the subreddit recently. I've been considering switching out of CE recently, and met with an advisor to talk about alternate paths. I was recommended either switching to ecology or biology majors (and maybe take a bioinformatics major to my CE experience doesn't go to waste), and was given some plans on how I can still enter these majors starting next quarter! But, I'm a little uncertain about the future, and frankly don't know much about the pathways these majors go down career or coursework wise.
Are there any people in these majors that can tell me a bit on what you guys do, or any resources or people I can meet to sort of discuss these things? Thanks!
Has anybody taken CSE 11: Advanced Programming with Professor Sifferman? If so, how is the class?
Is there a gift policy for ucsc faculty? I have a couple of professors I want to send a gift to as a thank you for their support in my post-grad plans. I just don’t want them to send it back- that would be awkward but I really want to gift them a small token of appreciation.
Hi guys does the perk bar still sell the gobbler?? I loved that sandwhich so if anyone has the ingredients or a pic of it i would appreciate it!!
My life would be significantly nicer if I could find a parking spot for the next 6 days (overnight+day). Does anyone know if I could stay in the downtown lots that go 8am-8pm overnight, or maybe just keep paying for parkmobile spots in A lots for 6 days?
They’ve changed the visitor pass rules so I don’t think the daily pass is viable anymore (?). Any suggestions would be super helpful!!🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hey guys, unfortunately my autism has LATCHED onto the chipotle bacon chicken sandwich and now that I live off campus there’s no way I’m paying $15 for one. Does anyone know how they make it? More specifically how they make the sauce?
I know this is a really weird questions but if you think it’s weird that’s ableist 😊😋
Someone please explain to me the thought process behind the school having grades due the SAME DAY as tuition… does UCSC not know some of us are relying on merit-based scholarships…
I am down to go earlier if needed, just want to save some money! chat me if you're interested.
Basically the title, I'm currently stressed about getting into the class so I will be able to fulfill my major prereq
Or if I wasn't able to get into the Math 3 course, would it be a good idea to just do ALEKS and test into Math 11A?
So according to my calculations 🤓 I’ll be about 500 sbucks by when I leave this week and don’t know what to do with them, suggestions?
Hello All,
I’m a CS master’s student at UCSC, and we’re looking for a female-identifying student or professional to occupy a private room opening up in Cypress Point Apartments starting January 2025.
We’re open to either single or double occupancy:
The deposit for the room is $300, and the lease runs until July 2025—so you won’t have the hassle of subletting during the summer!

About Us:
We are all students, very clean and hygienic. We value privacy and maintain a peaceful, quiet home. While we don’t host parties at home, we’re lively and enjoy going out occasionally.

hello! I'm a 3rd year living in the Merrill apartments and I am very low on friends. My son is living with me and I figured he would like meeting new people as much as I do. comment or dm if interested in petting the boy (ik merrill is a trek)
hi guys so im a freshman and im taking math 19b, clni core, and cse 20. im trying to take am 10, a ge, and physics 5a next quarter but everytime i try to add 5a it says “Unable to add this class - requisites have not been met. Check for schedule conflicts between concurrent/requisite enrollment lectures, labs and discussion sections. Schedule conflicts between concurrent/requisite courses will prevent enrollment. You may also fail to meet enrollment requirements if enrolling in corequisite classes will cause you to exceed maximum units. Status Prerequisite(s): MATH 19A or MATH 20A. Concurrent enrollment in PHYS 5L, and either MATH 19B or MATH 20B, is required.”
i think it might be because i didnt take 19a or 20a but i took the equivalent of 19a in high school and also there are no conflicts in my schedule. please lmk!
Hi, I am planning on taking ECE118 (Mechatronics) but on the catalog it says that a prereq for this class is ECE13. I was wondering if I could still enroll in the class if I take CSE13S instead.
I have so many slug points I need to spend but bought some snacks over break. Do things sell out? Will they be restocked? How bad does it get?
seemed to be a car on fire in the porter circle parking lots? no info on scanners
