You are all fans here, do you agree with this sentiment? I disagree with it heavily as it is an easy argument and it paints a very reductionist view on the gameplay of the series.
I played VC4, really enjoyed it, >!heard it had a dlc including characters of VC1!<, so started playing VC1. Each time I get a new story mission, I never finish it until I make a strategy that :1) gets me an A. 2) Kills all enemy tanks, commanders and aces. So I try to do the "perfect run" that has max available EXP and DCT for that mission. I dont grind the skirmishes, only do them once at normal difficulty when unlocked. My question is : Can I continue playing this way (100% all missions) on a first playthrough ? Is it possible to do it for every mission without grinding skirmishes ? I am asking this because I am having a particularly hard time doing it for mission >!12 "The Fight for Bruhl"!<
An Hypothetical question: but what if the imperial armor for their infantry was applied to an RL scenario? Properly bulletproofed against headshots, bodyshots, etc.?
And if something similar is already in use by an PMC group / SWAT group, what would it's RL counterpart look like? And by what group would adopt such an design?

personal notes
----------------
The design itself is genius, cutting an knight's armor design by basically half, modernizing an vest and 2 gauntlets with an helmet, and using padded pants and an militarized utility belt from the waist down ending in combat boots. Not as much weight being imposed on the soldiers lower extremities while still being more than able to protect the whole body. Something tells me the pants ain't made of 3rd-store denim either, probably uses an bullet-cushioning polymer that stops it from reaching the leg, just like the vest around the torso.
The game is on sale and I'm thinking of getting it, but when I research on how the game was running everywhere it said it wasn't that great, but all of those are old post from close to release on the switch. so I decided to come here and ask how the game is running on Nintendo switch now in October of 2024?
I had often heard that VC3 was inferior to VC1 and VC4 (though better than VC2), and I held off on playing it for a long time due to these reviews. However, I am glad I picked it up, and highly recommend it to fans of the series. The characters are memorable, the story is well-written, the antagonists have believable (and perhaps even understandable) motivations, and the addition of the fencer class added a lot to the gameplay.
The game is not without its flaws, and the slower character movement and smaller maps definitely took a while before I got used to them. However, after a few sessions I barely noticed these issues and ended up having a lot of fun.
If you like VC1 and VC4, I would highly recommend giving VC3 a chance.
Your thoug
Think this would be a nice topic to discuss.
It was kinda hinted at in the manga… even if he almost let her get shot
so i'm near the end of 2 and i'm fuckin tired of grinding but also tired of having several units being stuck at tier 1 or 2 so i am looking for some way to not deal with the stupic credits system anymore. does anyone know of a hack or cheat that can help me bypass the stupid things because i'm tired of save stating before a mission complete so i can get what i need without intense amounts of grinding (something i've already done several times to get 2 snipers and get a medic), so done with this shit so please say there's a way to not do this anymore.
Edit: so apparently i'm just dumb, CWcheat menu has all the cheats set up and there is one specifically to get around this issue, actual god sent because i detestgrinding in this game
Across all Valkyria Chronicles games there are quite a few characters which seem important and are liked by fans but don't get as much of screen time as maybe they deserved.
Do you have a character that you would like to highlight in that regard?
Ghirlandaio sweep
i tried vc3 after 1 and idk man i cant play it, it looks great story wise but it being psp game is a tough sell idk the lack of ragdolls, cutscenes and the limitatons show trough in every aspect, i wanted to like it but i cant, can i skip this and play 4.
Its not like psp cant handle more demanding games i mean look at secret agent clank and Birth by sleep but this one just wasnt for me chief
I have only played 1, skipped 2 since apparently its bad, and am now playing 3 tour toughts? Altough i have also heard 4 is a very mixed bag
Do you think it would be cool to control the movement of your troops with the Nunchuck and aim/shoot using the Wii Remote?
I just got myself thinking about it.
Is there any game similar to Valkyria Chronicles, but on the Nintendo Wii?
Before anyone comments, I know that it started development on the X360.
Like so far, i have gotten insane use out of the scouts, rarely shocktroopers, and sometimes i use the lancers and in my tests so far, the scouts are the most usefull in 99 percent of situations, i barely used shocktroopers cuz alicia with that op as riffle kills everything, lancers were meh when i can just use tanks, engis were fine but very istuational, and ig thats it is it me who is dumb or what?
I really only used scouts if im being honest, i hope VC3 and 4 have all classes play a big role in gameplay cuz as it stands they are too strong and invalidate all other classes.
I kind of back off from VC for a few Years but recently gotten back into it and the desire to write a fanfic in came back. The Fanfic I been wanting to do is a OC Real World Military Unit x Valkyria, set during VC 1 with a somewhat sense of Realism, several side story line, and a VC In-universe Alternate history.
I serve IRL so it would be logical to use the experience I had in said military I serve. The problem is the Realism part of it, Logistics and maintenance of the equipment. I doubt in-universe Gallia would be able to met the high quality demand of parts for said equipment along with the supply chain for it.
So the best Logical step would go with a Faction that has smiliar Logistical Chain and using vehicles closer to the Era, i.e World War 2. However, I doubt the Gallia Industry can split arms prodution to 30-06 and the fact my Branch wasn't in the same Theater as it was in Valkyria Chronicles.
However, looking at the Logistical arm that Gallia used, I realize that it would force me to use the Big Bad of Europe during ww2. Using "them" comes with a host of problems that is too much to list and might come off wrong in many ways. Combine that with my very limited knowledge on their Military Unit, tactics, and SOP at the time, I might be forced to used my IRL Modern Different Nation SOP for them.
However, using "them" allows for potential story lines to take place, something of which I planned and wanted to do. 1 of them was the Allies joining later in a "temporary alliance" and the Gallians learning about the truth from their world, or what call a "Castle Itter" off the IRL Battle of the same name.
All this also conflicts with the "Anime Side" of Valkyria Chronicles, i.e cute Girls in skirts fighting in the military. I have gone with simple solution to use the tag "Alternate World War 2" but even then, I try to justify it in the Fic Universe. This minor grope but I just want to put it out there.
So is there any suggestions or Ideas on how write a Fanfic with these tenants? Restart the "them" and the Allies joining later fic? Do a Fic with the Modern IRL Military? Or come with a even crazier scenario that send a IRL Military Unit to VC Universe (like a Cold War Unit or something)?
After playing through VC4, one question perseverates in my mind: did Minerva forgave Claude after the war? She was there with the rest of the crew & Riley to see him, so she must have, if only off screen.
It’s somewhat understandable in regard to what she went through to hold a grudge against him. Holding out from an Imperial onslaught constantly without further back up is a nightmare. She’d have to know, even if Squad F came sooner than deal with the supply train to Gallia, they would’ve been lost as well.
She was at least level-headed some to recommend her rival the position of commander of Operation Cygnus. She would’ve rushed to send him & his squad to die in the first fight possible. Then came the moment of almost detonating a nuke on enemy soil. Where she had activated the switch, the amount of lives lost would’ve flashed some thoughts of her fellow soldiers dying again.
I’d assume throughout the whole story, I’d have assumptions she forgave him since he proved his valor & courage to take on the greatest responsibility to be bestowed on Claude himself. But what do lot think? Grudges can’t last forever, you know.
So I am playing Valkyria Chronicles for the first time and I've managed to make it all the way up to the 8th chapter (had some hiccups in previous chapters during some segments) however I'm stuck in the second battle segment where you have to guide Welkin and Alicia back to Squad 7. So there's a bunch of shocktrooper and lancer units, also a couple tanks, which the main force of squad 7 is in conflict with. Now, I've had problems with trying to not only get Welkin and Alicia there since there's the small squad near the fenced area with the artillery, but practically all the enemy units inflict debuffs on your characters which makes fighting back all the much harder. So far the most logical choice of units I've deployed in the game are two scouts in the front, two lancers in between the front and back, as well as a sniper and engineer in the back. Are there any tips you could provide which might help making my way through the level a tad bit more bearable?
