Kayneth is a character largely relegated to side-character status, even within his master-servant relationship with Diarmuid. This has led some people to overlook his well written tragic demise, instead focusing on the more heroic Diarmuid or alternatively, due to their dislike of Diarmuid they discount the pair entirely. Both outlooks fail to appreciate the nuances of Kayneth’s character. This saddens me, since I firmly believe Kayneth is one of the best Fate characters.

One reason people overlook Kayneth’s tragic death is his framing as a villain throughout the plot until his final scenes. This leads them to believe he was justly vanquished by the protagonist Kiritsigu. Whilst it may be the case that Kayneth is a villain for much of his screen time in Zero, he is far more than that. There is no doubt that Kayneth is arrogant and unpleasant at points, underneath this he is deeply caring towards Sola, differentiating him from a generic, arrogant, cruel, antagonist. Throughout Zero Kayneth is put through a string of intense hurdles, including but not limited to: his catalyst being stolen, summoning a servant that unintentionally seduces his fiancee, a brutal defeat losing him use of his legs and magic circuits and the betrayal of his fiancee. These change Kayneth dramatically by his final scene where we see someone portrayed as a quintessential, cold, calculating mage decide what is truly important to him. Instead of fighting Kiritsugu with his gun or using a command seal to redirect Diarmuid, Kayneth panickedly signs a geass that fails to save him and Sola. Such an error only resulted from his adoration for Sola, even in spite of her betrayal. When he makes this choice he is faced with a choice between continuing the War with the hope of restoring his magic circuits and with it his social status or living on without Sola.

After the catastrophic losses he had already suffered in the War, Kayneth gave up on fixing them and instead attempted to save the person he loved. By the end of his life Kayneth, the mage competing in the War for the accolade alone, decided to forgo everything he built in his life because he had realised what was truly important to him. Not only is this genuinely heartwarming but the feelings of warmth are turned to ash with the pair’s brutal murder in the following scene, cementing the ultimate tragedy. Kayneth, truly feels despair when Sola is killed in his arms and he is fatally wounded; there is nothing else to take that he cares for anymore, leading to him begging for a mercy killing.

On a more general level, Kayneth is an interesting character with a genuinely cool mystic code. He has layers to his character. He may have humiliated Waver but he didn’t do so without reading Waver’s lengthy and genuinely baseless thesis. Instead of looking back on Kayneth with scorn, Waver instead appreciates him as one of the most important people in shaping his adult self, behind Iskander. Therefore, all things considered, I find Kayneth to be a somewhat overlooked and underappreciated Fate character, considering the compelling nature of the tragedy he experiences.

I neede a sword for an Halloween party, so I printed Clare t and painted it to give a kind of spooky look .

The paint job looks good only from afar because I was in a hurry, but I'm pretty satisfied with the result.

I finished Mahoyo and I think Soujuurou is the most devilish character created just to fuck up with my mind.

As a friend put it: "i want to put him under ungodly circumstances seeing how far i could go until he finally breaks not just immediate painful inflictions but long orchestrated set-ups built up over months that conclude in crushing fashion i want to see that mutt take his first bark"

As you may know, Kuro is a complex character, especially if we take away the fanservice, as she has a huge existential problem being the original Illya who was sealed and denied to exist, remaining as a secondary personality of Illya. She got angry with Illya when she accidentally denied her existence by saying she didn't want to be a magical girl. Kuro went so far as to want to kill Illya and almost disappeared, but Illya convinced her to live knowing that her purpose in the Holy Grail War will never return. Also, she often questions whether or not she deserves to exist.

She is also fused with the Archer card, which is problematic, as it comes from Emiya Archer, who also has a huge existential problem: he is someone who doesn't love himself and hates the fate that befell him, full of regrets. So much so that he traveled to the very war he participated in with the desire to kill his younger self, in order to cease to exist, despite the fact that he is outside of space and time, and nothing would change. Kuro, being linked to the Archer card, would disappear if Emiya Archer ceases to exist. Unintentionally, Emiya denied Kuro's existence, as the Archer card is currently the core of his existence.

For bad end 13, (from what I understand) I don’t have enough companion points for saber to not betray me. What i’m wondering is do I have to replay the entire route again choosing options that sway towards saber? Or can I just jump to decisions from the flow chart to build up the points and saving myself the time?

So I've started to read F/SN bcz it just happened to pick my interest. But now that I'm into the FSN I want to read it in it's read order. I mostly want to know the Saber and Sakura route, but Tohsaka's fine too I guess. So I'm which order should I read? Manga only, maybe some animes in between. But no light novel pls.
