I’m a student ambassador for Somethings - a state-endorsed, free mental health service for teens exclusively in North Carolina. We connect teens with trained young adult peer specialists who can provide guidance, empathy, and support during tough times.
I'm trying to as many parents and teens who might benefit from additional support as possible especially in the wake of Hurricane Helene, especially those navigating challenges like anxiety, depression, etc. Here's where we're mentioned on the NCDHHS site (check the second slide of the carousel), and additionally here's our website outlining our partnerships with the state: www.somethings.com/northcarolina
Please feel free to DM me if you have any questions!
Absolutely worst hotel ever, I checked into to Hampton inn Raleigh/Cary Nc located at 201 ashville ave 27518, I called ahead and asked if the accepted ESA animals as I frequent hotels with my dogs, and while some hotels don’t, some do. I called this past Friday night and asked and the guy asked me to hold and returned saying he couldn’t get ahold of anyone and asked if he could call me back, I said sure no problem and he called back saying ESA animals were fine I then asked do I need to bring my letter cause I could if needed and was advised it want necessary. Upon check out apparently the front desk lady decided to not say anything to me but to just charge me $60. When I called and spoke to mgr he said we don’t accept them and I stated I was called back and told otherwise, he then stated well we don’t issue refunds, not only is that rude for not speaking to me, but bad customer service. Be warned before you stay there, they lie.

We're not sharing a script and encouraging folks to be kind, but honest, about their opposition. Tell your abortion story if it feels safe.
Call to action for Tuesday: If you can, arrive at NCGA by 3:20 to ensure you can get in, and grab a seat, before 4 PM.
Prepare to be there a while - Don't bring a poster unless your OK leaving it outside the gallery. Water bottles and food is not permitted inside either.
You will be in good company! Make sure the NCGA doesn't pass this thing quietly and without an audience of the very same people who will vote them out.

As many of you may or may not know, NC is the 3rd highest state for animals euthanized in shelters. If anyone is interested in becoming a foster for shelter dogs, please please comment on this thread or send me a message (not DM/chat) because I can't use the app on my phone right now so it has to be an actual message. I network for shelter dogs and rescues and we are desperate for fosters!!!
We need fosters for dogs of all sizes, breeds, temperaments, ages, and medical conditions. Even if you can only temporarily foster for 2-weeks or less, we can still use your help! However, we are really in need of long-term committed fosters to shelter a dog from rescue through adoption.
The situation in NC shelters is VERY BAD right now and we are DESPERATE for your help. Thank you!!!
Hi All, I am hosting a corporate event with about 15 international colleagues for the first time in years (obviously). Since the pandemic, I just don't get out much. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place that is lively but only so much we can walk about and have cocktails/beer and chat, and sit down and have dinner? I would love to lean towards local breweries but I am finding they either require a minimum persons or don't have liquor/food service. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Trying to stay in Apex, Cary, Raleigh area - prefer a non-chain. Outside of drink budget -around $40 p.p for food. Prefer references to good service or at least friendly folks. I understand everyone is understaffed at the moment - doesn't have to be fast to be good.
We think keeping cats indoors is the best strategy for protecting cat health and safety as well as that of wildlife. Cat owners are responsible for knowing and complying with local statutes (aka leash laws) in their municipalities. Owners choosing to let their cat outdoors assume the risks and responsibilities associated with their actions.
This research has been approved by the NC State Institutional Review Board (#3515) and the Animal Care and Use Committee (NCSM 2014-01).

(The fine print: 50% off adoption fees for all adult cats one year of age and over. Get yours before the first frost)"
There are 60 cats. The reduction of the adoption fee enables the SPCA to pull more cats from mostly rural shelters from around the state and there are so many more needing to be saved.
The funds for the SPCA to fix them, test for feline leukemia, flea and tick protection, microchip, provide medical care and more comes from your generous donations.
