Hello All,
We signed up for and were very excited about affordable parent and infant swim lessons for our 6 month old ($90 total for 6 Saturday morning sessions) located at UNC Rex Wellness center Raleigh, 4200 Lake Boone Trail, Raleigh, NC 27607. However the class got cancelled due to low sign-ups :(.
The teacher said she will consider scheduling a new session (for 5 month - 4 year olds) from July 15th 2023 to Aug 19th 2023 if people show enough interest. Also gathering interest for October -November 2023.
Similar parent and infant swim classes 1 day a week at local swim schools require on-going membership for $200+ a month, so I think this is a great deal. And I personally am excited about it as a bonding experience with my baby. They said either parent can come with the child to each class throughout the session.
You can consider the location, dates and timing (~8-9am Saturday's) and submit your info at this link if interested: https://forms.gle/taRfPsYVJPesq26F7
If the class is opened due to enough interest, you will get further details how to sign up, thanks!

Seniors aged 65+ now ride free on GoTriangle buses! You can read all about it here: https://gotriangle.org/news/those-65-or-older
It's especially awesome because kids 12 and under already ride free and those 13-18 ride free with a Youth GoPass.
Next week we will be sharing a list of transit-friendly activities to do on Sunday, September 8 - Grandparent's Day!
I think it will be helpful to start a weekly "what's going on" thread for kid-friendly stuff going on around town on the upcoming weekend. So what are your plans or what have you heard of to stay cool and busy this coming weekend?

It's been a while, but I think there's value in having a reddit community of parents in the Triangle.
Please post here when there are cool family events, questions you have about kids in the Triangle, etc.
And if there's a good opportunity to let people in other local subs know about /r/triangleparents, please gently promote it.
Thanks, and let me know if you have any suggestions!
What would it take?
Climb. Explore. Learn. TOUCH!

Hi, I work at the Developmental Social Neuroscience Lab at the University of North Carolina. We are looking for families with two children, one between ages 11 and 13 and one 1-4 years older, to participate with a parent. For your participation, you and your family will earn up to $170 and you will also get fun prizes from our lab. the Carolina Sibling Study. We are interested in how siblings influence how the teenage brain develops!
So what would it look like if you choose to participate? Your family would come to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Your children would fill out questionnaires, play computer games, and complete a brain scan in an MRI machine. An MRI is like a big camera that takes pictures of your brain. Your parent or guardian would also do some of the computer games and questionnaires. Then, one year from now, your family will complete a follow up survey online!
Please see this flyer for more information (link: https://pomona.box.com/v/SibStudy). Feel free to contact us at carolinasiblingstudy@gmail.com or at (919)-391-0324.
Thanks! The DSN Lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
I've heard of some theaters having "Mommy and Me" screenings. Has anyone heard of one in the area?
Hello! I am hoping I can get some good advice that will assist with my researching places to live. I am in the Clinical Trials research field so I would like to stay around Raleigh. I have considered towns like Cary, Morrisvile, Apex, and Holly springs. I have a wife, 2 boys, and a dog. Best possible school district is very important. I would like to be near a town that has a nice shopping/eating district that we could walk around. It is hard researching this all via internet as I am on the other side of the country. Please just shoot me some neighborhoods I should be focusing on.
Its the Kids EveryWear consignment sale and its held at the old Outlet mall in Morrisville (off the airport exit near Cracker Barrel).
The sale is actually open tomorrow, Monday the 14th, too if you give a $15 dollar donation to charity. See the website for details on that.
The sale is open to the public next weekend:on Saturday the 19th from 10AM to 9PM. On Sunday the 20th some items are 50% off and the sale runs 1PM to 6PM.
It is mostly kids clothes and toys, however there is a mens, womens and housewares section as well. I've always found great prices and deals at this sale and wanted to spread the word.
Wanted to share a link I saw on /r/beermoney. I've got $50 worth of kids and maternity clothes on the way for $0.
I wanted to get a good list together of the best places to see fireworks with any tips about them. Let me know if you have any suggestions or notes and I'll add them.
