Safe place to car sleep overnight?

I'm gonna be in town this weekend for a concert, and am not wanting to afford a hotel. Any spots nearish downtown (within 20ish minutes maybe?) where it would be safe to park my car and sleep overnight? Bonus question, any fun / worthwhile things to see while I'm in town?

Does Durham still have a Spencer's, or is it just Hot Topic at Southpoint Mall?

I miss Northgate Mall, especially since it was closer to where I lived. There were some things I wanted to get from Spencer's, but wasn't able to since the pandemic. Hot Topic at Southpoint doesn't exactly have all the same stuff, especially wanting a new Black Panther hat like I had before.

I just looked up on Yelp on Google that there was one on 1058 W Club Blvd. Not an address guy (I ride the bus), so I'm not sure exactly where Club Blvd is without landmarks, but looks like it was Northgate Mall just from the image. If so, is there a second store in Durham, or is it just Hot Topic at Southpoint at the moment?

AT&T can kick rocks

Anyone else going through the AT&T internet outage at the moment? Outage has been going on since Sunday night in South Durham spots. Should I just make the switch to Google Fiber? Are they much better?

Favorite Place for Oyster Deals/Happy Hour?

Hello all! I've been craving Oysters for some reason so I'm reaching out to see if anyone has any favorite spots worth checking out. From previous posts, Alley Twenty Six ($1.50/oyster from Tuesday-Friday from 4-5 PM) and Squids in Chapel Hill ($1.50/oyster from Sunday-Thursday from 4:15-6 PM) seem highly regarded. Any others worth considering? Recommendations against are also welcome. Cheers!

Making a card for Russell’s Pharmacy

As some of y'all know, Russell's Pharmacy is closing after 6 years in East Durham. A lot of us have been helped and supported by the Russells, so I wanted to gather testimonies that I will put into a huge card that we can all present to them before they close (they close October 19th and I'd like to give it to them October 16th/17th). If you have some things to say about Russell's Pharmacy, please put a note below!

Winter cardio that isn’t running…?

Yeah, I hate running. But the winter is coming, and it's about to hit me right in the SADs, and I love the endorphin hit after getting my heart rate up. I'm pretty active already, just missing a regular cardio practice. What do y'all like to do in the winter time to get your heart rate up?

Is the American Tobacco Trail as great as it seems?

I love greenways, and from the map view I love how the trail goes through neighborhoods seems to connect homes to grocery, shopping, and downtown.

I’m curious to hear from people who live within walking/biking distance of the trail: Do you use it as often as you thought you would? Does it feel safe for the most part? Would you point it out as a main selling point for people who love walking/biking for their daily errands? What are some under-appreciated neighborhoods with great access to the trail?

Any thoughts appreciated!

Why is the tobacco district area always empty compared to other parts?

I find that area so nice. It's really cool to just walk around there. To me its surprising that area is so empty compared to say downtown, 9th street, etc

Power Outages

I’m kind of new to the area. Is it normal to have SOOOO many power outages? We get multiple a month it seems. My partner claims we’re on a crappy grid, but even so it seems excessive that every storm we have one and even many times when everything seems find weather-wise. I’m mad we pay so much money to Duke Energy and this happens constantly.

Morrisville dog training

We have a 2 year old Great Pyrenees named ducky. She has high anxiety and is reactive to people and other dogs. We are looking for a place that with help her build her confidence. We singed up for sit means sit but quickly backed out before she went after reading different review. We are looking for a place that uses positive reinforcement to improve her confidence rather than breaking her down. With our bad experience with sit means sit we are trying to do our research but now have 0 trust with training centers. We definitely need help, we are feeling pretty lost in this situation. Please please please help us build up our pups trust with us and our trust with training facilities we need recommendations!

Question about Durham's Pride events

What in the world is a "community kickback"? It's occurring after the parade but I can't find a definition anywhere.

Will there be vendors and such like two years ago or are people just hanging out?

I'm trying to recommend activities for young adults in town for the weekend, assuming it's not raining.
