Hi everyone, I’m an international student joining NCSU this fall for MSCE program. If anyone lives near campus and is looking for a roommate kindly let me know. My budget is around 500$.
Thanks in advance.
I realized as an incoming sophomore I do not qualify many scholarships, and that had I waited two more semesters to obtain my associates degree, I could’ve qualified for the goodnight scholarships.
Also, I have a -1500 SAI for FAFSA and will not be able to afford NCSU without any financial aid. I’m majoring in conservation biology and I’m an in-state student.
Will it be best I just apply again once I get my associates degree to potentially save myself a lot of money?
Anyone heard back? If so when/what major.. I still haven’t heard anything after submitting grades. Everything about my application was like good- so im just confused😭😭 Hoping to hear back this week though
Hello all, I've recently been accepted to NCSU as a junior transfer student. I'm interested in pursuing a career in sales after graduation and would like to know more about the opportunities available at NCSU, such as clubs and networking events related to this field.
Title. Trying to take a credit by exam for this course and have a few questions regarding the exam from people who previously took it
Transfer to NCSU ( although results haven’t come out).
I want to CODA to cs major. It says I need to take 12 credits, then I can apply CODA. Which means I can’t apply in the fall, need to wait to spring term?
And if I apply in the spring term, and can I take one requirement course such as CH101 in the spring? Or I need to finish all requirement course in the fall term?
Hi all I got a C- in py205 which throws me completely off track for my CODA and my plan but I plan to take it over the summer at a community college online. I know this might be a stupid question but they don't make you take the labs and tests in person right?
Hey, I am International student joining NC State for my masters in CE. Any advice on what should I aspect and how to look accommodation ?
title basically explains it! but was looking for notes/advice to get ahead as possible before things get super hectic!
Did anyone get rejected? Or only waitlists and acceptances?
I haven’t heard anything since grades being requested, starting to stress.
I was asked for my current grades on 13 april and heard back today that u got wait listed. My gpa was 4.0 and i had applied for accounts, its just so unfair seeing my knows get into poole college of management with 3.2 GPA. They’re just playing lucky draw!😭
I am planning to major in computer science. I was looking at the NC State sample schedule and realized I have AP credit for a lot of the courses. (Calc BC: 5, Chem: 5, CSA: ?, Lang 5). I also took some wake tech courses which covered a lot of the humanities and economics.
Would I be able to take higher level courses related to my to fill in the gap? I know that I will have to apply for computer science after my first year.
So what goes on during a parent’s weekend?
Hi!
I’m an incoming freshman in First Year Engineering. I’m currently in AP Chemistry and Honors Chem.
However I don’t think I will get a 4 or 5 on the AP Exam so my CODA GPA would have Chem 101 as a C or possibly a B. So i’m thinking of taking chem at a local community college?
Would CHM 151 or CHM 131/131A be more similar to AP Chem? Also will it matter which one I take if i’m planning on doing computer engineering and won’t need more chem?
These are my grades for CODA classes so far
ENG101 : A+ ; E101 : A+; E102 : A+; CH101 : A; CH102 : A
MA141 : A; MA241 : A; PY206 : A+; PY205 : C+
My cumulative GPA is 3.782, will I be able to CODA in? I'm not able to predict using the stats spreadsheet as they haven't mentioned the CODA gpa in it.
I was recently accepted as a transfer student to NCSU's Chemical Engineering program, but I need help deciding on if I should attend NCSU or UIUC. I am super passionate about cellular agriculture and alt protein, and ultimately the school that best positions me to work with cellular agriculture right out of college is the biggest factor in my decision.
I have done research about the opportunities at NCSU, and there seems to be some pretty relevant courses and research offered. However, I'd love to chat/talk with someone who has gone to NCSU and is now working (or soon to be) in the cellular agriculture industry about the best opportunities NCSU offers, experience here, and advice for getting into the industry! PM me!
Thanks!

How hard is it compared to PY205?
I was asked for grades on the 12th. I have not heard back yet. I tried to log into the portal by resetting the password. I got an email to my personal email asking if it was me. I noticed that I have an NC State email address assigned to me. Does this mean anything or do all applicants get email addresses?
hi u guys, i recently got in as a transfer but the mypack portal says i have a hold for “term advisement” but then i’m not assigned an advisor yet, i was wondering how long it takes for them to assign an advisor and if i should reach out the advisor coordinator
I received an 84.38 in marketing and the grade shows as a B-. Uggh.
I hope I’m not the only one at least a little angry with how state’s admissions team has operated this year. I understand the FAFSA was incredibly late this year and honestly everything is just bad, but being waitlisted and having to wait to know if I actually have a spot by June 15th???
I’ve been accepted as a CS major at App State, and I have to put in a deposit by May 15th if I’m going to go there. I was really hoping I would know something from NCSU by then, but now I’m only going to hear something by at the very latest June 15th. I’m sorry but, that is kind of ridiculous.
this is just me being angry and rambling, but I was wondering if anyone else felt the same 💀
Can you get a full mba online? I've got mixed answers so far. I've also heard that all tests have to be proctored if you go online. I've also heard that you have to do at least two courses on campus. Is this true?
Judge rules NCSU has to open up Poe Hall! Finally. What are they hiding…..probably the fact they knew there were pcbs!? https://www.wral.com/amp/21409210/
I’m also thinking about applying to a masters program so will they look at that?
If you have taken this course, which textbook is it? Thank you!
Heyo, I’m an incoming freshman and studying mathematics. It would totally awesome if who I roomed with was also on the mathematics path (of course it doesn’t really matter in the end)! Overall, I prefer to not live in a dump, so cleanliness is relatively important. A few thingies about me, for contextualization: -Christian -Planning to not waste the crazy tuition $$$, so primarily motivated to learn -Books are neat -Gym -Down to talk deep -Big fan of the list format
I’ll dm my insta to talk further 🧮
Hello all,
I am an incoming CpE grad student at NC State this Fall. I would like to know your thoughts about my course selection for the first semester. ECE 506 - Architecture of Parallel Computers - Prof. Greg Byrd ECE 563 - Microprocessor Architecture - Prof. Eric Rotenberg ECE 564 - ASIC and FPGA design using Verilog - Prof. Paul Franzon
How will you rate the teaching quality and difficulty of these courses?
I am interested in Comp Arch and targeting jobs around the software aspects of computer architecture like Performance modelling, etc.
If you have any other course suggestions, please share them too.
I was looking over all my grades for this semester and I noticed that one of my classes grading scale in the syllabus was different than normal (like normally it would be A- is a 90-93, A is 93-97, A+ is 97-100). This grading rubric had it as B+ or A- is 89-91.9, A is 92-97, A+ 97-100. Maybe what's confusing me the most is how would you determine whether you get a A- or B+ when they are the same range?
Also, can professors penalize your grade for an excused absence through the Absence Verification?
