Yet another of our top front court targets commits without even visiting UNC. If you're keeping score of UNC's attempt to find starters to replace Ingram and Bacot, here you go.
Ballo, Wolf, Bradshaw, Aidoo, and Thiero all committed without visiting UNC.
Only Omoruyi actually visited UNC, and then committed to Alabama a couple days later.
This is far and away the worst stretch of portal recruiting for UNC since Roy retired.
Washington is arguably a better offensive player than any uncommitted center in the portal. At the very least he has more offensive potential than any other option. But he has a long ways to go before he is presentable at the 5 on the defensive side.
A portal add that fills the holes in Washington’s skillset is just downright necessary if this team wants to be a legit natty contender. He doesn’t have to be a world beater. Just a solid rim protector that can provide depth at the position. And that’s a lot to ask 6’9” James Brown in his freshman season tbh.
Obviously, for those in the know, Cliff Omoruyi from Rutgers chose Alabama today. Making clear that the impact portal center prospects UNC were looking at all chose to go elsewhere. I guess it would be safe to assume they reach out to a player like Great Osobor or if Norchad Omier had interest he'd reach out to them himself considering his "Do not contact" designation. What are everyone's thoughts so far? Because it looks bleak for the front court at the moment.
I love this pick up in the portal. He's also somewhat more athletic then you'd think.
Anyone know when the men’s basketball season tickets normally drop? Thinking next years gonna be huge!
Will miss him dearly but hope he can work his way into the late first round and a role on a good NBA team.
Our guy balled out in a do-or-die game for the Bulls. Career high in points! (42)
Kind of sucks as a Heel fan…I’ve enjoyed watching him grow this year.
Kinda feels like a sign that RJ is t planning on sticking around if his girlfriend isn’t. Obviously we all want him to stay, but he has to do what’s best for him and his happiness
He’d make a lot more money from NIL than he will in the G League though…
It’s obviously early days in the portal. But what is everyone’s thought on the available big men that have hit the portal so far?
Hubert is definitely interested in Wolf from Yale. I’m sure he will put in a call to Ballo too.
Personally I would much prefer Bradshaw over anyone. This team needs that dominant physical presence. Plus he has more overall potential than almost every other player in the portal. Would love to see him work with May after an offseason in a college weight room.
While I wouldn’t mind getting a guy like Wolf, Washington already covers the “high skill” big man. I know Hubert loves bigs that can shoot but tbh I don’t want him to over value that aspect. Especially with a PG like Cadeau… Just need someone who can protect the rim and finish around the rim at an elite level. Bradshaw could certainly become that.
To root for State or not to root for State.
What are y'all thinking?
I like the N.C. State story but I don't think anyone can challenge UConn except Purdue.
That is who I have in the final - UConn vs. Purdue with UConn winning it all again.
What say you?
