During events such as the State of Play, the subreddit will go on “restricted mode”.
Creating new posts will be turned off. Only mods and approved users will be able to make new posts. Typically, there will be a pinned “info and discussion” thread linking to the individual threads created. The sub is usually on restricted mode roughly 30mins before the event is slated to start. The sub will be turned off restricted mode after all the threads are created and organized in the pinned thread.
Additionally, during high traffic periods, particularly for State of Play or Showcase events, self posts will be restricted temporarily with discussion encouraged in the megathreads posted.

"Layden: Obviously, we were going to build - or rather, we built - an optical drive peripheral for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Nintendo realised cartridges had already maxed out their memory footprints and so we - or rather, Ken Kutaragi - created the compact disc technology to support the SNES. And we were just about ready. I think it was at CES [Computer Entertainment Show] 1993, we were going to announce the partnership. And Nintendo left us standing at the altar, after they did a pivot at the last minute and went with Philips.
So there was Ken, proverbially standing at the altar with his optical disc drive in his hands. And, indignant, he went back to the leadership at Sony at the time and said: 'All I need is an OS and some more connecting tissue for this thing, and we can build our own game machine'."
I have found.. well, for once, that I have too many games I haven't finished, because many of the games on sale I already own. I did realize that criminally, I never picked up Red Dead Redemption 2, even thou I adored the first one. So far it's the only thing I have nabbed but I know there's got to be some deep value somewhere...
What are your findings?
I don’t have time to chit-chat as I ride a horse in the snow, or jump through bullshit side quest hoops because an annoying robot said so. Give me non-stop action and a skill tree.
Edit: Not Doom or the like though. That’s just too fast-paced for me. Pace-wise something like Vanquish is more my speed.
I was just wondering how many games people in the community buy on average in a given year on their PlayStation console?
For reference and/or context, I would say I buy between 25 - 40 game purchases on average per year and have done so since I started buying games almost exclusively digitally on the PS4 around 2015 going forward to now on the PS5 . I had made most of my purchases physically before that point but switched due to convience over time.
Something about digital games and the convience of the online store giving me the ability to purchase games and immediately play them had a major effect on my game purchasing habits.
Which I know based upon my purchasing amount most likely leaves me as an outlier in comparison to the general community. Which brings me to my interest of how big of an outlier am I.
So my question to the community is: On average how many games do you buy a year for your PlayStation console?
P.S. Thanks for any and all answers.
I love the idea of an open world game or just game in general where you have a base or safe house that you can upgrade as you progress through the story, wether it’s through story progression or in game currency. I was curious if anyone had any they’d recommend someone to try out. I’ve played Jedi: Survivor, Farcry 4, Most of the Assasins Creed games, even stardew valley if you count the house lol. Any and all recommendations are much appreciated and worth the look.
I haven’t played a COD campaign in years. I’m more into Elden Ring, FromSoftware stuff, FF7 Rebirth, Cyberpunk… those being favourites of the last few years.
But if you didn’t already know, BO6 campaign is absolutely fucking brilliant.
Why, you ask?
Well, I didn’t realise before buying but after loving a couple of pure stealth missions, I’m now in an OPEN WORLD map, reminiscent of Ghost Recon but with top quality first-person shooter gameplay and realism.
There’s camps, I can approach these camps however I want with my squad. It’s far better than I could ever imagine from COD.
If you’re not the type of gamer to buy COD, I urge you to consider it purely for this campaign.
If you want to be a Seal / SAS dude with amazing gunplay and gameplay, in an open world in Iraq, with fast travel and everyone (wtf!?), with an better gaming experience than Ghost Recon or even SOCOM, then you’ll like the BO6 campaign.
I know we’ve heard ‘good’ things about it but I really think this genre and style of campaign is sorely missed in the industry, not enough of them, and this is a pure breath of fresh air.
Cyberpunk 2077 is legitimately already one of the best games I have ever played. The world is SUPER immersive and the gameplay is very fun. I just got the game yesterday and I already have 11 hours logged (I think that includes the 5 hour game trial that was available earlier this year). There is SO much to explore and skills to unlock. The graphics are great and the performance is pretty good as well (PS5). I got the Ultimate Edition for $45 because of the Black Friday Deals but I definitely would’ve paid full price for it. Whatever it was like on launch it definitely is not like it is today. This is probably the best $45 I have ever spent. If you are even remotely thinking about getting this game I think it’s 100% worth buying. See y’all in Night City!
The base PS5 is the standard for this generation. This has been a statement given by developers and supported by all the data we've seen when comparing game tech in the current consoles. When PS5 Pro was officially announced Sony explicitly said that this is the console for those who want the best outta PlayStation. Fidelity Modes on PS5 are marginally better and run at 60fps on PS5 Pro.
I've noticed this exact same rhetoric when the Switch Lite and PS Portal were announced. People were complaining about the account system Nintendo has because they couldn't switch between consoles when you can just...pick up the Switch and take it with you. They complained that the Portal was useless cuz it wasn't playing games locally when they already explained that it was streaming only.
Why do the masses think everything should be for them, and are mad when that doesn't happen?
Hey guys,
So I bought the physical copy of Alan Wake 2 for Black Friday. It came with a digital copy of the first game. I already own it and would love to give it away to someone who will enjoy it!
Here's the information for entering the giveaway:
Simply submit a comment to be entered.
The code is for the U.S. region.
The winner will be decided randomly through Reddit Raffle tomorrow at 5 PM Eastern time.
I will DM the code to the winner.
Good luck!
I’d love to see the other Spyro games brought back honestly those were some of my favorites on the older systems, that or the og Harry Potter games bc trying to catch peeves was super hard back then but maybe now I could do it 😂😂
Nine Sols is a souls-inspired, 2D metroidvania that has been out on the PS5 for a week.
For whatever reason the devs apparently don't do ANY marketing so it's likely you have never heard of the game or knew that it was out on PS5. So I guess I'll try to sell it for them:
Nine Sols is quite possibly the best of its genre to date, with only Hollow Knight as a contender. In a nutshell it's like Hollow Knight meets Sekiro in a rich (and dark) "Taoist-punk" setting. Despite it's obvious influences (metroidvania progression, bonfire rest-and-enemy-reset system, parry-based combat), it absolutely has its own unique identity.
For me personally, the storytelling and lore are the main draw. Similar to how Sekiro explored Buddhist themes in a somewhat horrific way, Nine Sols explores Taoist themes. And it has the a rich institutional and interpersonal "history" to uncover, like in Bloodborne.
The game is very very hard (harder than Sekiro, for me), but has a difficulty slider mode that can essentially make you invincible, so if you are interested only in the story/lore, don't let the difficulty turn you off.
