So I've had this 1TB PS4 Pro for about two years now with no problems up until about 6 months ago. One day it just turned itself off mid-game no error screen or anything. Booted back up fine no issues and didn't happen again for a week or two. After that it started happening multiple times a day if not every 20/30 min or so. Took it apart and gave it a deep clean which helped it last longer between shutdowns but still kept happening.
About 3 months ago I replaced the thermal paste which completely solved the issue and the console has been working perfectly until last night where it did the same thing and just turned off no error no warning no screen saying the PS4 is too hot etc. However touching it begged to differ it was EXTREMELY hot, like egg cooking hot.
Its always been in an open well ventilated area. I've replaced the power cable, HDMI cable, changed powerpoints, changed tv's, tried cooling pads to cool it down, games-checked if it happened with just disc games or digital games still happens for both, tried system updates, tried rebuilding database, However I haven't tried factory reset because I don't have a big enough external drive to back my data up to and I really don't want to lose the progress of my games.
I'm at my wits end on what to do with this - it seems like its overheated to the point of damaging internal parts. Legit thinking of admitting defeat and caving and buying a PS5 at this point. Yes it'd be cheaper to get a new drive to back up on and factory reset but if that doesn't work I've just wasted more time and money on this stovetop of a PS4 Pro.
Anyone got any ideas for a potential miracle?
Anyone wanna bless me with an account Don’t got money for games
So, I have an SSD to upgade my PS4 Pro with, but I have a question about the OS installation. On Sony's site I could only ind one download - PS4UPD.PUP, there was no separate download for the Pro - is this correct?
So I just place that file in the correct directory on a USB drive?
friends, let's raise the topic on twitter so that we can be heard. let them add ps4 support
Does anyone know where to get PS4 Pro replacement housing shells? I am not talking about skins. My PS4 Pro is black but I would like mine to have a different color like white or the limited edition translucent blue.
So I have this PS4 with a PSN Account linked to it. And I don't know the password and I don't have access to the email that is linked to this PSN Account. Can this account be recovered? (I need to fix this ASAP)
I was going to use my PlayStation 4 Pro console. Than all of sudden it that I cannot use my external hard drive with error code (CE-41902-6). Also, internal hard drive is not working.
Also my console just got a new software updates on February 2, 2025. The external hard drive works fine in other devices (Desktop/Computer), there no issues with USB cable, and not getting overheated on the console and hard drives.
I've already tried reseting, reboot, and unplugging the console and external hard drive and still not working.
How can I fix this issue? Can someone help me who has more experience with PlayStation 4 Pro consoles or someone from PlayStation support on reddit.
My ps4 pro keeps on shutting down after I'm done playing and come back to the menu it's doesn't shut off it switch off like if you were to pull the power plug, also shows no signal on the TV for the first few times whn I start it. Does anyone have a solution or do I have to go to a repair shop
My PS4 Pro's disk drive is screwing up, it's doing that thing where it keeps trying to load the disk but failing unless you whack on the top of it for a while, and I don't want to do that at risk of damaging it.
I tried looking it up but there are two questions I have with trying to replace the optical drive that I can't seem to find an answer for.
Marrying the drive:
It's not clear how this works or if I even need to. I hear some models had some daughterboard that goes with it, and for others it's built into the motherboard, and I can't find any confirmation on how the PS4 Pro does it. Would I just be able to swap out the drive itself and have it work fine? Would I need some daughterboard to go with it? Am I just completely out of luck without soldering/desoldering experience which I do not have with marrying the the replacement drive to the system? I also can't find details on what exactly "marrying" a drive to a PS4 does. Does the drive not work at all unless it is? Or does it only work for some things like games but not others like movies?
What model of drive:
From what I understand the PS4 Pro could use several different models of drives. Is there any way to tell what drive I have without taking it apart? I looked up guides on replacing the drive and I have to completely and utterly disassemble the entire console to get to it, including removing the heatsink for some reason, which of course means I also would need to replace the thermal paste. I don't want to leave it in pieces while hunting down a replacement drive of the same model, is there any way to find out what drive I need without fully taking it apart first?
Hi everyone, my 2nd post here
I recently bought a 2nd hand PS4 pro with model no. CUH 7218. Not sure how old this is . I had it cleared from inside and changed the thermal paste also.
So i am new to console gaming totally. Reading accross online forums i cam e accross something called BLOD for ps4....like rrod for xbox.... now i am scared.....do all ps4 pros get blod like xbox 360s or Ps3 used to get rrod and ylod?.....are all ps4 pros at some point of time guaranteed to get blod?.....not sure how old my console is originally....so I'm really worried now whether all my money in games will ve wasted..... please help..
Hi, I’ve moved home last week, still setting up my equipment, I’ve lost the screw that connects the supplied plastic stand to my PS4 Pro to keep it stood upright, anybody know what exact size I need to buy?? 😊
Hey community, so I just upgraded the HDD to an SSD on my PS4 Pro. A few times actually. The first being to a Western Digital SA510 which I returned because it didn't have DRAM Cache. So I went with the Crucial MX500 2TB Drive. Everything went well with the swap/install and I had no problems playing and installing games as I was going along and then right before I went to to work I set a bunch of games to download (literally like 16 games) and I came home and thought there was a power outage as my console was completely off and upon powering on the console I was presented with the error message stating Cannot Start PS4. Cannot access system storage. (Image attached) I wasn't sure what could have caused this but as I bought the drive "Like New" (Amazon states Like New means the product is in excellent working condition and comes with all original packaging with minimal damage to packaging) I decided to try again with a brand new unit that I purchased. I'll save the redundant details of the install went exactly the same, and this time with the new drive I set similar amount of games installs before going to bed and woke up to the exact same issue. Both times I powered the console down and unclogged it for a few seconds and it started up like normal and hasn't presented the issue at all since then. What could possibly be causing this issue and is there anything I should be worried about?
Purchased a PS4 VR and have found I can only handle about 5 mins and feel sea sick, head ache. Last for hours after. Feel bit gutted. I had read about it but didn't think it would affect me so much. Anyone else found a way to ease symptoms or am I just f*""*d?
Hello, so I can’t seem to get my ps button to work. Hence, I can’t connect my controller to my ps4. tried looking at it through hardware tester, and this is what shows up. Any ideas how I can fix this? TIA!
Hi Guys , i have two question for you :

QUESTION 2 :
would you recommend 1mm or 1.5mm or even 2mm ?
How we know the original tickness in mm of original stock ones for each consoles ?
Did they have the same tickness on PS3 , PS4 & PS5 ?
Hi Everyone, I'm a rather broke and rookie gamer....haha :3.....So i recently bought a PS4 pro a few weeks back(2nd hand console) in pretty good condition (externally, haven't opened it coz I don't know how xD).....but it's working completely fine without any issue....but I am having some heating issue....not sure how much heat is normal coz this is my first time using a console.....but the kinda top-back portion of the ps4 is getting very hot quickly when i am starting any game( again I'm not sure whether that much heat is normal or not)....also other than heat there are no performance issue.....So coincidentally I have a Laptop gaming cooling pad lying around from my days of laptop gaming.....can i place it below my ps4 for even 1% of cooling?? IK it won't do any good as there are no vents at the bottom unlike laptop but anyway i have that cooling pad lying around eating dust to better to use it for something ig.....Also will placing my cooling pad below my console do any damage to the internal heat sensors or fan etc? I was reading somewhere that laptop cooling pads can damage the internal cooling system of the PS4 or its heat sensors and fan....??
So .....will it be okay if it use it?.....
Hi, I changed the thermal paste on my PC and everything was going well, but a screw on the metal part that covers the thermal pads (I don't know if you know what I'm talking about) was very resistant and I was forced to, instead of unscrewing it, move the whole metal around it so that it would come loose. This caused two black boxes soldered together that I don't know what they do to come loose. When I put the paste on and turned it on, I got the blue light problem. Does anyone have any idea if those black boxes are very important? Here are some pictures of them:
PS4 PRO 7125B Someone have pics to show where are ALL thermal pads to replace ?
I searched online and dont find any pic/diagrams .
Does anyone know of any ways I could possibly boost the effectiveness of wifi on the console? I've always had pretty bad wifi, but recently it's gotten a whole lot worse. I play a lot of warzone and it's become basically unplayable with all the lag and the huge ping delay. I'd appreciate any tips, anything that I could try. I currently have it connected through ethernet cable.
I’ve been having a persistent issue with my PS4 Pro, where certain games like Just Cause 4, Far Cry 6 crash randomly with the error code CE348780. I’ve tried a bunch of solutions: I rebuilt the database, reinstalled the games, updated the firmware, formatted the PS4, and even bought a new SSD, hoping it would fix things. Since then, the error happens a bit later, but it still occurs. The fans seem to be working normally before it crashes and the console gets warm but not too hot. Games like GTA V and God of War seem fine, but certain titles keep crashing. I replaced the thermal paste, but the thermal pads in the PS4 are old and worn out (they’re peeling and have dust on it which is stuck so impossible to remove). I’m considering replacing the pads, but the problem is I’ve already spent money on a new SSD, and it’s frustrating to think about spending more on thermal pads and dismantling the console again, only for the issue to possibly continue. So I’m posting here to see if anyone has had a similar issue and whether replacing the thermal pads or doing something else fixed it, or if it could be a different problem maybe RAM-related or idk. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! (because it's starting to haunt my nights)
Hello, I own a ps4 and now I want to switch to a ps4 pro but I don't know where I can find a "new" or "like new" ps4 pro.
Recently got a PS4 Pro for $60. Was extremely dirty, would boot to CE-34335-8, which Google states it's a faulty HDD.
I swapped hard drives and tried booting into safe mode, and it will not. Still reads the error of 34335-8. The Playstation logo splash screen happens, and the blue light turns white once we reach the error screen.
I've taken it apart, cleaned it with 99% IPA, repasted, and replaced the CMOS battery. I also tried a different power supply to no change. There was a bit of oxidation on the mobo. Anything else I should check before I toss it? I really want to get this thing working.
I got a Kingdston ssd 960GB and a ugreen ssd case. The ps4 sees the drive but is giving me the error and shows me the minimum requirements (which are all met) when trying to format it as extended storage. I can format is as exFat (and I did) but not as extended storage. Both the ssd and the case are brand new
I m getting this type of texture flickering in some of the areas of the game .I updated the game and the texture flickering was gone, but I quickly rolled back the update and because the fan would crank up too loud .Is my ps4 on it's last straw ?Or it's just the game ?(p.s. recently cleaned and repasted.
I recently posted saying my hdmi port on my ps4 died so I took it apart and everything seemed fine so I put it back together and thought hmmm what the hell, then It hit me "maybe the hdmi cable is bad", so I got a different one and it worked flawlessly, idiot of the year award goes to me.
Red Dead Redemption! Such a banger!
I
This thing got me through middle and high school, it ran into cooling issues so I cut a hole in it a few years ago and that fixed it but just yesterday the hdmi port stop outputting video, I'm skeptical of my ability to repair it but I'll certainly try.
