PlayStation™Vue was a no-contract, over the top streaming TV provider targeted toward cord cutters looking for a cable television alternative. The PlayStation™Vue app was available on multiple devices and platforms. PlayStation™Vue offered cloud DVR, video on demand (VOD), and "TV Everywhere" authentication for numerous networks.

PlayStation Vue History

The live streaming service PlayStation Vue was launched in the US on March 18, 2015 by the Sony Interactive Entertainment subdivision of the Sony Corporation of America division of Sony. One of the first live streaming services, it initially had a limited major-market rollout before being expanded nationally. A subscription service targeting cordcutters, it was structured like a multichannel video programming distributor - it combined live TV, on-demand video, and cloud-based DVR to stream cable tv and broadcast tv programs, movies, and sporting events directly to a PlayStation console or other supported streaming device or apps – without requiring cable or satellite television service.

On July 26, 2016, Sony announced a deal with the NFL to stream the NFL Network and Red Zone making it one of only a handful of live streaming services to do so. One of its features was an extensive collection of login credentials for TV Everywhere Apps. On March 6, 2017, the service introduced the "Multi-View" picture-in-picture feature, which allows users to watch up to three channels simultaneously on a single screen; one of the most treasured features of Vue that as of January 2020 hadn't been replicated by other services.

In October 2019 news broke that Sony was attempting to sell the Vue service. On October 29, 2019, Sony announced that the service would be discontinued on January 30, 2020. While the service had approximately 745,000 subscribers as of September 2018, a number of newer services had launched in prior two years. When Sony announced the discontinuation of PlayStation Vue it stated it was doing so because "the highly competitive Pay TV industry, with expensive content and network deals, has been slower to change than we expected." Following this announcement, Sony later worked out a deal with Google's YouTube TV for a YouTube TV app on PlayStation consoles, the only live streaming service other than its own PlayStation Vue to be on PlayStation consoles. This app was launched in January 2020.

The Best Perfume Shops Online in UK

Recently, I’ve been looking for some online perfume shops in the UK. I can’t say I often shop fragrances online, I’ve typically preferred the conservative approach of visiting physical stores where I can actually smell the samples.

Obviously, there are plenty of options available, including a variety of price points. I’m curious if anyone can recommend which online perfume shops are preferable.

I’ve checked out a few options, including A1, Notino, The Perfume Shop, and Fragrance Direct. Each of these offers a wide selection and features interesting brands like Dior Sauvage Perfume, Tom Ford, The Good Girl Perfume, Billie Eilish, and Lady Million, among others.

I’d like to know which perfume shops people have had good experiences with. I’m mainly interested in perfume for women as I often need to buy gifts. What are the price differences? Are there cheap perfumes? What’s the customer support and delivery like? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

At the moment, I've stoped at the A1 marketplace and The Perfume Shop. Both platforms seem to have a large selection of perfumes and reasonable prices. I’ll probably try both options and see how it goes, including delivery times

Exploring Scalable Architecture for Vue.js Applications: A Practical Guide

recently published an article titled "Structuring Vue Applications: A Modular Approach," where I dive into the importance of scalable architecture for Vue.js applications.

In this article, I discuss:

  • The default folder structure of Vue apps and its limitations.
  • Challenges related to scalability and code coupling in larger projects.
  • Proposals for a more modular architecture that organizes code effectively.
  • The benefits of using features like async components and nested routes.
  • The introduction of a common folder for shared code and components.

As a teaser for the next article, I also share plans for building a real-world Golang + Vue.js web application using this architecture.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this approach, especially if you’ve faced similar challenges in your projects. Check it out and let’s discuss!

Read the article here!

Thanks for your time!

THANK YOU COMMUNITY [from Vue dev team]

This and communities like it MATTER. Everyone who has come to praise, complain, or think-out-loud about Vue has been heard. We couldn't always address your concerns and we could not directly communicate with you, but you've been heard!

The moderators deserve huge praise keeping the area around here positive and friendly (as much as anyone can expect from the Internet).

Directly from the development team let me extend a heart-felt thank you. Go forth knowing that spaces like this do really make it all the way down to the exact person (in some cases) that need to hear it. Both positive and negative comments come through. And priority boards were commonly changed in response.

We are very sad to see Vue come to an end, but proud to have been part of the changes that were sorely needed. And you have truly been a part of that with us.

Thank you
Vue Development

I just can’t bring myself to delete the App!

I know both my phone and Apple TV apps just take me to that depressing shutdown screen, but am I the only one who might save the app for a while? I feel like it’s sort of a badge of honor, knowing the app has already been removed from the App Store. I feel like I’m writing an obituary or something here.

Sigh.

Not to sound like a giant puss but damn some of these posts of saying goodbye really tears me up and I love how close this community is.

I know it’s just “TV” but Sony tried hard to get us the best TV experience. PSVue was way ahead of its time and its times like this where I wish I appreciated what I had. Now that PSVue is gone I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I’m just as sad as most of you. For those moving to other platforms I wish you well. For those that are going to be homeless(TV less) I’ll be right along your side. Thank you PlayStation for giving us an experience like no other.

Goodbye...forever

Still working for anyone else?

Update: As of 7PM CST PS Vue no longer functions. I'm sure it happened earlier but that was my first chance to check today. RIP Vue, you will be missed.

I signed up for YouTube TV about an hour ago and am figuring it out. I will say that the picture is sharper and more colorful one my One X vs base PS4 but that's not the fault of Vue at all. The DVR sorting by type of program is a step ahead already and moving forward/back in programs seems a bit faster as well.

I mostly picked YouTube TV due to similar program offerings and superior DVR vs competitors.

Original post below:

Not sure why, but I'm still able to stream the last thing I was watching via DVR. (Seinfeld FTW!!) I was curious so I completely started the program over and closed/opened the app. Haven't looked around at anything else yet but the menu is still updating for live programing and showing it's actively DVRing. (Best I can tell)

Currently 7:52PM CST

Using my PS4 via Ethernet connection.

A big thank you to the mods!

You’ve run a good inclusive and tolerant community here and you deserved more subscribers and a service that continued on. Thanks for navigating a good Sub here and I know we all appreciate it!! Hope all goes well with you. And who knows...Sony has said they haven’t closed the door on streaming services forever. We might be back at some point?

RIP Vue. You’ll be missed.

Since today is the last day of service, I just thought I would give my respects to this service. Vue was the only live TV streaming service I’ve ever known, and I thought it was one of the best out there. Sure, there were problems with it, but not enough for me to switch. Although, I wasn’t happy when the Viacom channels left and still kept the price. However, that’s the past now.

In a perfect world, Vue would still be going strong if Sony gave any effort and attention towards it. From getting more channels and features added to it; to naming it better that didn’t confused the public into thinking they needed a PlayStation console to get it. Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be.

I’ll be switching to Hulu today, as I shared my TV with my family and they wanted the Disney bundle thing. While it may not have all the channels and features like I had with Vue, but it’s close enough. Hopefully Hulu is good to me. While I’ve not been as active here, but it was a pleasure to had Vue as my TV provider; and may all of you do well in whatever provider you go with. RIP Vue, you’ll be missed.

Sorry to see you go...

I used Playstation Vue a couple of times for a few months, before Youtube TV finally came to our area. Served it's purpose, sad to lose the competition, as well as having a second choice...it's competition that keeps things companies in line. We have too little of it already in this area. I'll miss having the choice of PS Vue.

Well, this is it, and I'm genuinely upset.

I just finally signed up for YTTV (which doesn't have the two week trial I've been spammed with for weeks anymore! :c) and it's got some cool features, but the UI makes me miss Vue already.

Vue was the first digital service of the type I subscribed to, just to check it out since it was on my PS4 dash, and I never looked back. I'm already starting to appreciate things it offered even more after using YTTV for only about an hour. It's such a damn shame and I wish I could do something as a customer to have it stick around.

After so many years of use it's a nightmare to try to remember all of the shows I'd favorites and I'm sure I'll be missing quite a few; I actually started snapping photos of my DVR list to have some sort of backup, but it's far too large for that to be a reliable method. I wish I'd written some script to pull a text list from the web version, wish I'd realized this would be a problem before now.

Anyways, these are just random ramblings but I feel legitimately saddened by the fact that this will be the last day with Vue. It's weird, because I've never give a shit about swapping cable providers or anything like that in the last, but something is different. Maybe it's because of how customized the service is for you after an extended period of use and the feeling that you're losing all of that "work" you put in to getting it just right.

So yeah, this is just a shit post of me saying "I'm sad." G'bye, Vue, you shall be missed.
