Apple TV app mutes program before ads

Long time issue I'm finally just reporting.

When streaming any show (using DISH subscription) the sound is muted about 3-5 seconds before the ad starts.

Using Apple TV 4K.

App has been deleted and reinstalled. No joy.

Also tried hard boot of Apple TV.

NBC sports app on Samsung TV no longer working

Has anyone else had issues getting the app to load? I had no issues for years but as of 1-2 weeks ago the app won't open at all. Tried re-installing multiple times but it will not open.

Joseph Olmo

He’s a reporter for NBC Washington by day and a con man at night. My friend met him at a bar, he lied about being married, made up a fake backstory and profession about his life. He spent the night with my friend and then the next morning as my friend is walking him out his wife pulls up and starts questioning her. He did admit this isn’t the first time he’s cheated on his “wife” and that she is aware. Him cheating on his wife is neither here nor there but his wife pulling up to my friends property and questioning her (knowing he cheats on her frequently and she decided to stay with him) is uncalled for. After discovering more of the lies he told my friend we realized this is not the first time they done it. He spent the entire night with my friend and the wife knew to pull up the second they stepped outside the house and he looked completely unphased when she pulled up, he got into the car and they drove off like it was completely normal. We know now it’s bc he sent his wife the address without my friends consent. all of this to say be careful is you see/or meet him.

If you are incapable of reading the post in its entirety please just keep scrolling. For the 1000th time no one gives a fuck that he cheats on his wife or what they do in their personal time. It’s really isn’t that hard of a concept to understand that bringing unsuspecting women into this kink, sending out their personal address to his wife and then having someone these women don’t know pulling up to their property to harass them, isn’t between “two consenting adults”

How do NBC execs including Chair Cesar Conde survive paying out $600k to McDaniel?

McDaniel intends to sue them for breach of contract, and I don't see why she wouldn't win considering anything levied against her would have already been known before she was offered it.

Executives across many industries often show how out of touch they are. How did they manage to offer this eye-watering contract to an election denier and self-proclaimed domestic terrorist without any idea of what the blowback would be? The arrogance of them to think they know best and refuse to get any other input.

It also shows what kind of world they live in, divorced from the public, from even their own hosts. 'Left wing' media has long been covering for the right, whitewashing their actions. These cretins are walking eyes wide open into a Trump authoritarian state just because of temporary ratings.

If there was any justice, the entire top executive team should be fired without any golden parachutes for this debacle, but I bet they won't be and maybe more layoffs will happen because they've burnt $600k on an election denier and enemy of democracy.

Sports programming sound issues.

For years no matter where we've been in the country and having used satellite / multiple cable companies / streaming via Hulu & Peacock to watch NBC stuff we have recognized that the commentator audio is significantly lower than the sounds of crowds or motors depending on the sport. I'm watching the IndyCar replay from Thermal Club and, as usual, I can't hear the commentary. I watched the Valspar golf stuff over the last few days and all I could hear was wind and a really pissed off bird. It doesn't matter what TV, what sound bar, on computer, on phone - it's always off.

We cannot be the only people who've noticed this - anyone?

Does Carson Daly Just Hate the Today Show?

Carson Daly always looks like he hates his job. He rolls his eyes, gets impatient with the standard banter before he can deliver his lines, and just looks like his coworkers annoy him to no end. It's annoying to watch. I've also never seen someone who was supposed to be the pop culture guy say "never seen it" to 90 percent of the stuff he talks about on the show. Maybe someone else who LIKES this stuff should be given the chance to shine.

Would there be any interest in a subreddit for the new sitcom Extended Family or is it just that hated?

I actually like it but sometimes feel like I'm in the minority and when I went looking for a sub for it (to find a community of whoever else likes it) all I found was a postless request-to-submit r/ExtendedFamily and a private sub r/ExtendedFamilyTV with no way for me to tell if either was meant to be for this sub

So esp. if the show ends up getting renewed would there be interest for a subreddit for it (or is there one I'm not finding somehow)

Tools to combat AI-generated misinformation are becoming more critical during elections - students seeking participants for user study

We are students at Georgia Tech developing a tool for news readers aimed at combating misinformation, particularly crucial during this election cycle.

We're seeking participants for a user study aimed at assessing the effectiveness of our tool. Since we're students, we can't offer much compensation, but after the study we'll send you a $5 Amazon gift card as a thank you!

During the study, we'll share a prototype of a news website and you'll be asked to review our tool. We'll ask about how easy it is to understand and use. We'll do studies on a desktop computer using Zoom (video off).

If you're interested please fill out the survey below. https://gatech.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_daSTX0Shb9cBq98

Why was Harry Potter on NBC last night (3/3)?

I've never seen Harry Potter on the news station before. I believe NBC owns the TV rights to the franchise. Did they have to fill a time slot?

The Tour @ 30Rock

Does anyone know if there's a point where extra tickets are released for the tour of 30 Rock? I'm looking for tickets for Sunday 31st March, looks like there's some for other weeks earlier, but not for that one. Any idea if extra tickets are released, or have I missed my chance?

Is there anywhere to watch old Tonight Show from the 50’s?

I really want to watch all Jack Parr Tonight Show episodes. Is there any platform or website which compiles them? I’ve been searching but I haven’t found a place where I can watch them chronologically yet

Boycott NBC

I’m boycotting NBC until there is an explanation/apology for allowing Shane Gillis, a racist, homophobe who dabbles in Holocaust denial, to host SNL.
