Severide Being Chief

A lot of people have been commenting on one of my posts saying Kelly would never wanna be a Chief. I don't think that is true. Case in point Season 5 (Anna Days) he was the top spot for BC in Springfield, IL I can't remember the exact reason he didn't take it it was either because his dad Benny set it up or he wanted to stay in Chicago or a mix of both

CHLOE?!?!

I PANICKED when I just watched the new episode and Cruz identified this absolute random as Chloe. "No way have they replaced Chloe's actress!!" I thought... only for her to turn out to be an undercover 🤦‍♀️ can take a deep breath now 😂😂😂 I have not had enough sleep for this 😂😂

anyone else just hate this season? like i stopped after the the new paramedic arrived and the paramedic chief decided to start YET another war with 51, its becoming way to redundant in my opinion

Ok, Enough with the Cruz-dumping already!!

WHY does it seem that Cruz is ALWAYS catching hell? And Otis too, when he was alive. This character is being shown no respect in the writer's room. He is always overlooked, underrated, and portrayed as a basket case when he is a damned amazing character. Newcomers are written in and seem to rise to the top of the career ladder over him, and screw-up characters seem to get redeemed and allowed to get their positions back with little consequences. I wish they would develop this character's storyline to honor the tremendous acting talent of Joe Minoso and the quality of Cruz' character itself.

Casey isn't a good leader.

Every time he is dealing with something he treats his people like shit and pretends that it's their fault instead of taking responsibility.

Did they change the camera for Chicago Fire in season 7?

After Gabby left I have always felt like the shower seemed so different and I never understood why season 7 felt so much different than the first 6 but as I am watching the Chicago Fire marathon on USA tonight I figured out they either changed the camera they used or changed the filter they use because season 7-now looks different than the first 6 seasons did and I didn’t know if anyone knew why.

I didn’t like Paramedic Chilli but Severide was also a drug addict.

I always felt like it was so hypocritical for Severide to catch Chilli being an alcoholic on the job but he was actually a drug addict for a while and Dawson caught him. Only he got help without repercussions.

Otis blue badge jacket

I’ve just started watching this and I was wondering if anybody else has notice that Otis is the only one that’s wearing a different jacket to everybody else? He wears a blue/grey jacket with a blue badge, whilst everybody else’s is navy with a red badge - does anybody know why?

Joe and Javi apartment

I was watching the new episode (yes a few days late. When Joe went home, and was talking with Javi. The apartment looked like a newer version of Gabby and Casey’s in s4. Is it? Just a coincidence maybe. The difference was Joe/javi were in the dining room, while it was Gabby/casey’s living room.

Edit it distracted me so much, I still have no idea what happened in the scene no spoilers.

End of season surprise

Why are we all of a sudden saying this kid is Severides?? Andrea knows they do NOT need any more god forsaken crap in their marriage. Let these two alone...let the drama be Fire dramas...past episode as an example. Just let them be married and have a family and normal marriage issues. Please this madness is just stupid‼️‼️

Aftermath of Andy’s death… opinions?

What’s y’alls opinions about how Heather chose to “distribute” the blame for Andy’s death between Casey and Severide?

Cause while I get how it’s easier to put it on Kelly for being the reason Andy even became a firefighter and all that, he was still best friends with both Casey and Severide. And pretty equal friends if I remember correctly.

Obviously Heather needed help after Andy’s death and while everyone in house was there for her/them Matt did show extra support. But idk it just bugs me how she put exactly all the blame on Kelly and really let Matt get away from any kind of blame. (Conflicted between her feelings for him and her grieving). I totally get the grieving part, but the guys between, I think it was unfair/ ugly move from her.

cindy lung cancer in future ...

i think story would have been better if hermens wife cindy did not survive her cancer.this is not to be mean but cancer is very serius illness.

i know it is tv... but in real life lung cancer is never good and even if you get rid of him, lung cancer will come back and much much much worse than before. i know this because my grandpa and uncle dies of lung cancer.

in future cindy will die from it because lung cancer will always come after 2-5 years and it always back worse...and it has now been maybe 1 years...

it would be better if she died during her first kemo therapy right away because in few years she will suffer even more then her first time and hermens children will be so sad because they will think if first time she got better and so they will think everything will be okay on second time... but unfortenetly lung cancer always returns worse and 2end time will almost 100% be ending in death

Episode Discussion: May 1, 2024 - The Wrong Guy (S12E10)

Severide steps in as ranking officer at 51; Kidd fights to save her Girls on Fire programme; Cruz's family is threatened when someone from Javi's past resurfaces.

Casey wasn’t all so serious before Andy died

I was rewatching season 1 and noticed that Casey joked around just like everybody else at the beginning of pilot

And the way I see it when Andy climbed in the window they acted more like friends than officer and subordinate

So my headcanon is that Casey blamed himself for not having enough authority?? in his leadership and then we got this now very serious Casey

Writing frustrations with the women of the show

Why are the women written to be so insufferable?

Stella: "You didn't take the job from me, I stepped back" no. Going MIA with bad comms is not "taking a step back" that's just poor communication. Pelham was a pretty decent guy all around.

Dawson: Her myriad of shortcomings have been covered extensively by this sub.

Chili - What the fuck

2 false sexual harassment accusations

etc etc

The men are written to be dynamic, stubborn, absurd, brave, etc. They're people with flaws and virtues.

The women come in three forms:

Mary Sue, Raging lunatic, Brett

Big Day Tomorrow!

Tomorrow at 8PM CST Chicago Fire Comes on in the episode description it says that Severide fills In as ranking officer (I believe this to either be Captain or BC, but more than likely BC because 51 does not have a captain at this time since Casey left) could this be the beginning of a captain's promotion for Severide in S13

Cruz acting Lieutenant, in season 10?

I need some help, I live in the UK so I can’t watch season 10. So I can’t personally see if I’m remembering this correctly

During the cyber attack episode, Herrmann was needed at the station, Cruz suggested that. He be acting Lieutenant. And he’d take Capp and Tony, to deal with the emergency. I can’t remember. For that one emergency which vehicle he was acting Lieutenant for. Squad 3 or engine 51

Stella

I want to start if by saying I think Stella is a brilliant officer and leader, and her character is just brilliant.

But when it comes to severide she is so hypocritical! Im rewatching it and I'm now on season 10 and with her going away to set up girls on fire she came back and after a little while it was all fine again pretty much. But now with severide gone and doing that arson investigation thing she's acting like it's gonna be the end of her marriage and was basically forcing him to get rid of that certificate he got for it (or something along those lines) and I just find it so annoying.

Sorry when typing this I was really tired and I just can't get my words out so sorry if this is missing some parts put and so forth

What do you reckon will happen in the future?

I don't want to be a downer here as I love these shows (the whole one chicago franchise), watched them for years and am still very involved with the story lines and I really do hope they keep going for a while longer.

However, I can't help but notice that I have a feeling that the end is nearing.

I don't think i'm the only one either, as i have spent a little while scrolling through a few subs and i know people are trying to keep positive, but with;

  • Drastic Budget cuts
  • Main/long standing cast members moving on
  • Less episodes
  • Less engagement

How much longer do we see these going on for?

I get that the half seasons were due to strikes, however, with more long-standing cast members leaving, mainly due to a plateau in character development. Alongside a decrease in crossovers, big climaxes (budget cuts) and major storyline changes happening more frequently, I feel like more people are going to stop watching, in turn bringing less budget to the show, and well, you can see where that leads.

So what do you think? How long do you reckon we have left? What do you reckon might happen to try and salvage it?
