Hi, I’m a long time viewer (H:LOTS), 1st time listener.
Just started listening to this podcast (it’s been on my list for a bit but haven’t gotten around to it) and it’s refreshing to hear Kyles voice. I love hearing about his background and the background of the show.
Just thought I’d give a shout out to those who haven’t yet listened to an episode to give it a try.

New episode of Homicide: Life On The Set
There are a couple actors that I feel like I saw in other TV shows and movies but can't find them on imdb, specifically the black detective with a beard. Any help on any of it? I thought the same actor may have played Odell Watkins in the wire, but it doesn't look like it. Most of them never have speaking lines...
Just read in PodNews: Thirty years after the TV show first hit the airwaves on NBC, Homicide: Life On The Set is a new podcast focusing on creators and crew of Homicide: Life On The Street - a different-looking TV show that won an Emmy Award.
Haven't listened yet but wanted to tell you guys! It must be super new, it is showing up on Apple Podcasts but not Pocketcasts yet (even if I enter the URL)
My Google-Fu is failing me.
Anyone know who the band featured in the bar at the beginning of the episode is?

Does anyone know which specific episode this took place in?
"A few weeks ago, when Melissa Leo’s Kay Howard and Daniel Baldwin’s Beau Felton visited a local hospital in search of a missing body, a voice on the public-address system called a “Dr. Ehrlich” to E.R. 6. (Ed Begley Jr.‘s Victor Ehrlich was, of course, a resident on St. Elsewhere.)"
finally found a group for this but my uncle and god father was donald waltemeyer one of the detectives. He was a very respected detective and we miss him dearly sadly he passed away from cancer in 2005
Enjoying my DVDs this evening. Pretty impressive that these two episodes are back to back. Great stuff by Andre in both.
Also laughing at what a trope it is for G to be watching Frank do his thing in the booth while doing a slow burn
Was at the dispensary and saw a big standee ad for Montel Williams' brand of cannabis products. First thought through my head was what Munch's rant would be like.
Was there ever an episode that Shine (the old BPD forensic pathologist) confessed to killing several detectives?? Or was I just dreaming…
As I continue to make my way through old SVU eps on Peacock, came across a gem of a scene with Braugher's defense attorney character interacting with Belzer's Munch character. The whole time, they both have these little smirks on their faces like they're sharing an inside joke but we're also privy to it.
Just a really great moment between two great actors who are sadly missed, but extra special for us HLOTS fans who got to see them together once again. My heart did a lil flip-flop, I had to watch it a few times. <3 Check it out if you can.

I was on this show as a child and I cannot for the LIFE of me find the episode!
I will say I haven’t bought it to watch, I might jump the gun soon if it doesn’t really come out on streaming…
I was so young I was just a child of one of the suspects, I remember a scene where my would be mother was upset because she found blood on the laundry and my parents were yelling about it. Then another scene where I was just meant to run about like a kid during a cookout and one more where me and my pretend brother on the show were just playing in the tv room in the tv room in the background while the main scene was happening in the kitchen or another room.
Had to of been 4 or 5 so anything between 1994-1996 maybe?
If anyone thinks it rings a bell PLEASE give me your hunches!!!!!
Did that go out in the broadcast? Or was it uncensored for the DVD release? Surprised there wasn’t a lot of furor about it.
I just fast forward when ever I see him, the second worst is Sheppard, she's so bad, not believable.
I love almost everyone else, but these two rub me the wrong way. Falsone is more real, Sheppard just sucks in many ways.
Now, I previously asked who the best guest characters are. And then I realized this sub never discussed another one of Homicide’s endlessly brilliant facets: the side characters. So, who are your favorites?
Lots of money has been put into it
I walked by it about ten years ago and there was a plaque by the door to memorialize it as a filming location. Hope it's still there.
I’m watching the series for the first time, and I just got to Pembleton’s stroke story arc. I had to gush about it.
It is so hard to watch in the best way possible. Seeing Pembleton, ordinarily so fast-talking and eloquent, stuttering, mixing up words, and having trouble communicating is so hard to watch. And while Frank is treating the people around him like shit, it’s hard not to understand why. All his pride and self-confidence has been stripped away, everything he valued about himself gone. It’s just so gut-wrenching to see him struggle and push everyone away. Things like that are why I love this show so much.
Man, I totally forgot he made a brief appearance at the retirement party for Munch on SVU. Also Billie from the Waterfront. Always loved Clark, makes me so happy to see their faces outside of H:LOTS.

So I just stumbled on this old advertisement for Homicide focusing on Frank Pembleton's character.
The tone, the music, is just so very odd.
Does anyone know which episode(s) Bayliss develops a bad back and is treated by Dr. Ehrlich offscreen?
Homicide had plenty of great minor characters who only turned up once. Who are your favorites? Mine’s John Lange from "Subway".
In "Map of the Heart", Howard notes that people in the precinct generally think Kellerman comes from money, something the working-class jokester takes personally. Why do you think that was?
Especially based on Homicide S1-3, those were the best for us.
We loved the Wire, loved Twin Peaks S1-2, hated the Sopranos, loved My So-Called Life.
Any suggestions welcome!
Did they ever figure it out? Or did the thing that happened with Frank take over?
my new work mug <3
