Warp tainted flesh fizzled on the end of her power longsword, crackling with an iridescent glow before melting back into the immaterium. The Bloodletter’s head lay severed at her feet, a futile attempt by the dark gods to impede the tithe. A silent sigh breathed through her metal mask, a slight annoyance at the loss of one psyker quickly replaced with movement in the corner of her eye.

Pivoting with nearly inhuman speed, blade hissing through the air and coming to a stop centimeters before piercing the flesh of her love.

“Jumpy” She said with a snicker, looking up at her power armor clad lover, hiding her fear from the demonic attack with humor. Despite the sizzling blade less than an inch from her neck, Alice’ heart was relieved to see her unscathed. But Sister Allita saw her trembling hand balled into a pale fist. Planting her blade into the dirt, she knelt and tenderly cupped her face.

The threat has passed, we must return to the group She clink and brush of her gauntlets filled the dead air as she spoke. Are you alright?

“Yes- I’m not the one missing my head.” The sassy serf said with a grin that masked her trembling voice. She glanced down at the disintegrating corpse of the Kornate demon, her vision swimming, before her girlfriend grabbed her chin with her gauntlet and held her gaze.

Don't Look

She could see it in her eyes, no sign language needed. She nodded, her playful smirk replaced with a weak smile as she looked up at her Vratine Armored warrior. Though at the back of her head was a sinking, lingering pain she knew all in close proximity to a blank felt, the sense of safety she felt cupped by her hand outweighed the wavering feeling of unease.

“Lets go, Chatty” Alice said with a chuckle, her playful smirk returning as she linked arms with her soldier of the Astra Telepathica. Met with a silent scoff followed by an eye roll, Allita sheathed her blade on her back and began the trek through the crumbling city with her girlfriend, the Blackship waiting for them in the distance.
