Justifications for Impractical Armor

Obviously in the real world, there's basically no reason to wear less armor in a combat situation if you can help it. But in various sci-fi and fantasy settings, there may actually be completing reasons for the stereotypical revealing armor designs.

Pictured is Bradamante from Fate/Grand Order. Based on the character from Orlando Furioso, she's a female knight who looks like a typical gacha game waifu bait character. And in a lot of ways she is. But in her voice lines, she explains that the parts of her body that aren't covered by armor are protected by a magic force field. In life, Bradamante frequently wore full body armor, but she was often mistaken for a man. In her second life as a Heroic Spirit, she's still searching for her lover Ruggiero, so it makes sense that she would wear something that makes her identifiable, especially since she can protect herself through other means. So within the specific context of FGO, her impractical armor actually kind of makes sense.

So I wanted to ask the subreddit what other justifications for impractical armor they've heard of that actually sound at least somewhat legitimate. It could also be ones that you've thought up yourselves.
