Driving to Calgary this weekend with my pup he's about 30LBS. Any recommendations for pet friendly things or activities to do? Also any restaurants that let you dine in with pets if possible?

TIA

Off leash dogs in non off leash areas

Curious what other people have done to combat this. The particular area I'm talking about is below the Glenmore reservoir dam. I like to frequent the area for walks because it's near my place but every single time I'm there I get constantly approached and jumped up on my off leash dogs. I'm usually polite but I'm getting sick of constantly getting jumped up on by wet dogs. Any advice? Is it worth calling the city or should I find a new park to enjoy?

When the realtor tells you it’s a mature neighbourhood this is what they mean.

Westbrook Walmart Lost Wallet

Unfortunately, I lost my wallet this afternoon at the Westbrook Walmart. On the incredibly slim off chance someone here picked it up, I can describe the contents so I can get it back. I urgently need it back and I’d rather not go thru the process of replacing everything.

It’s an orange ridge wallet.

Thanks 🙏

Best DT store for high quality vitamins and supplements

As title states. Preferably downtown area but willing to travel. Will go to shoppers if need be, but wondering if there is a better option.

Work/live in extreme far north where shipping is basically non existent so not looking for any websites. TIA

Fiancé is Drowning, Please Help

My fiancé (29) needs support, and is at a point where I think he needs more than I can offer.

He has had bad experiences with pretty much any supports he’s had in the past (e.g., mental health groups, medication, one-on-one therapy, etc.). Despite how skeptical he is, he is finally open to help and I’m afraid to suggest the wrong thing.

Possible relevant info:

•college degree (IT), plus 3 years of university (computer science major)

•doesn’t mind repetitive/physical work, but is also very adaptable and quick to pick up on skills

•jobless for almost a year, and EI is about to run out. He is actively looking for work, but cannot find anything

•doesn’t have friends, has an okay relationship with his parents

•was taught that having feelings is bad, that men don’t cry, and shouldn’t ask for help

•has OCD, ADHD, anxiety (GAD/SAD), and undiagnosed autism

•was given very few life skills (I can go into detail if needed, but he is pretty much 95% dependant on me for everything)

•grew up middle-class and is struggling to understand that he doesn’t have that kind of wealth now

•loves DND, video games, movies, fantasy, board games, painting, planes, and swimming

Is there any adult programs, job opportunities/supports, skill-building groups, low-pressure activities, communities (online or in-person), or targeted men’s mental health groups you would recommend?

Cash is tight as I’ve been the only one supporting us on $22/hour for the last year.

Large outdoor tree ornaments

Anyone know where to buy the large / oversized Christmas tree ornaments for an outdoor tree?

They look to be something like 8” to 12” in size and available in a variety of colors…

Here is a compilation of feedback from friends and family after visiting Calgary for a week

"The downtown and surrounding area is so walkable! I loved going out for a walk and exploring!"

"You told me there was a Crackmacs. You lied. It's a Crack-Circle-K."

"Loved all the murals and street art!" - when asked what his favourite piece was, he responded "the one at the corner by the hotel that said "Trans rights are human rights. Trans your gender now!" - Note that that particular piece of graffiti was literally scribbled on a light post LOL

"It seems surprisingly queer-positive? Wasn't expecting that."

"Not enough cowboys"

"The parking. Holy shit. I got lost in a parking garage. The exit sign just kept sending me in a circle. Never again. I would rather park on the street a mile away than deal with that again."

"I love how there are so many local restaurants! At home, it feels like everything's a chain"

"There are so many good restaurants that are impossible to find! Why are they hidden on the 15th floor of these office building skyscrapers?" - I then explained that they were on the +15, not the 15th floor.

"OMG BUNNIES"

Looking for any job for a friend in Calgary

Hello everyone!
Sorry to bother but im here because I have a friend who is currently living in Calgary, arrived like 2 months ago. She is a registered nurse from Chile, and currently has a working visa, but she is telling me that ithas been a NIGHTMARE to finda job,and im thinking that she is kind of depressed.

I really dont know how to help her, but i figured that I could write something here if ANYONE knows of any kind of job (not a nursing one,she is still working with papers and tests to be able to work as a nurse), like crealing, selling something, cooking, ANYTHING.

Thank you so much!

Metal detecting

I’ve got a decent metal detector, however only used it a few times. Wondering if anyone else goes on hunts within the city? I’d love to join up and learn a thing or two. Cheers!

Are covid tests a thing of the past?

I know that the federal supply is out, but I've not been able to find any tests anywhere for purchase either. I've called 4 different pharmacies around me and notta. Just wondering if you've seen them around

Edit: it's a simple question, but some of y'all can't resist letting me know your opinions on testing no one asked for damn.

Nose Hill full of Poop

Since the pandemic, this entitlement of dog owners to use Nose Hill Park as a dog poop receptacle has gotten out of control. Most owners aren't even following the leash rules. Nose Hill is a park not a f-ing dog park.

Are Lash Lifts & Brow Laminations Still in Your Budget? 🤔 Calgary Beauty Services Pricing Discussion!

Hey Calgary! 👋

With the rising costs of just about everything these days, I've been wondering how people feel about the pricing of beauty services like lash lifts and brow laminations. Are these treatments still part of your regular self-care routine, or have you had to cut back? 💸

I'd love to hear where everyone stands!

  • Are you doing them less often?
  • Completely quit for now?
  • Or maybe you've found an affordable way to keep up with it?

If you have any tips for finding good deals or other beauty treatments that feel like a nice compromise, share those too!

Curious to hear if these services still feel worth it for most people in Calgary, especially with some spots charging as much as $100-$200 per treatment. What do you think?

247 Emergency Plumbers Scam Sevices

Do not use this company. Shady business and took $400 from us after concluding the leak I had was coming from my neighbors side of our townhouse. They weren't home so the plumber had to leave and told us the charge for the "service". $400 cash or entransfer.

I found out later when the neighbor came home that they had sold the house and there has been 0 leak which we confirmed by walking through the house.

I went back home and decided to look in the first place I told him I suspected the leak was, the toilet. Sure enough I pour water on the side of the toilet and it's dripping out of the hole he cut below our toilet in the ceiling.

So plumber didn't do the job he was paid for and I paid $400 for him to cut a bigger hole in the ceiling and diagnose the problem wrong.

Long story short, we were scammed and it was our fault for not looking at the reviews. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY. They scam all their clients.
