Hi! I’m not sure if this is allowed, but I’m looking to see if anyone is willing to pick up some of this tattoo merch for me from this open house that’s tomorrow! I’m willing to send extra money to cover gas / as a tip! I live in a location in the US where I could drive, but I am not able to make the trip due to other circumstances :(

Thanks for reading & hope you have a great day c:

Nalgene bike holders in Calgary?

Hello, looking to buy a Nalgene bike cage for my partner this Xmas. I've seen a few online that look quite gimmicky, or crazy expensive. Anyone know where I'd be able to buy one in Calgary, preferably under $40?? Thanks!

EI, how many weeks are you getting?

Since Calgary has one of the highest unemployment rates, how many weeks is CRA giving? Has anyone disputed the amount of weeks granted, if so what was your approach with CRA and was it successful or a waste of time? I know someone that has never claimed, job is in receivership and no termination pay was given. Any ideas or resources to look up would be greatly appreciated. Job was niche in software programming.

Does anywhere in town sell fentanyl strips or offer them for free?

This is really stupid of me, but I ran out of my Xanax script for good - new GP is against long-term use, but I really need it for sleep and anxiety management.

I found someone selling what I’m positive is fake Xanax. Can’t even tell me the mg.

I don’t want to die from fentanyl. Is there a way to get testing strips asap? I found someone online but I’d have to wait for shipping.

Thanks. While I get it, please reserve your judgement; I know what I’m doing is stupid.

Career exhaustion

Been here since June, came to Canada to transfer roles from my UK job to Calgary. Got injured before I could start and couldn't complete the role. Started another role (admittedly not something in my wheelhouse but gave it a go anyway), and was asked today not to return. At this point I'm deflated. I knew this was coming so have applied to over 75 roles well within my capability without a reply from 1. I was really good at my career in the UK and was on an upward trajectory, with my move to Calgary supposed to propel it further. I feel so downcast and exhausted. So, any advice, fellow Redditors? Any tips on getting my foot in the door?

Best Fried Chicken (Downtown or SW)

Hello YYC. I've had fried chicken craving for days now. Can someone recommend the best fried chicken near downtown or SW. I don't mind travelling a bit for quality. No fast food please.

Condition of bike pathways with snow and ice?

Hi All,

Wanted to go for my usual summer ride on my very smooth tired road bike. I'm usually going from downtown to Fishcreek via the river pathway and up from Glenmore reservoir back to downtown. Anyone have an idea of how the conditions are?
Thanks for the help!

Lift tickets? In this economy?

To the person snowboarding just outside of downtown, you made everyone's day in my office. How long does it take to build a jump out of snow? Doesn't show well with the shadow but it seems like a sizable ramp from across the river.

Outdoor Rinks

Hello,

Just wondering if there are any outdoor rinks that are open and decent right now. Assuming there are, but it's been a while & curious to know which ones are the better options in the city.

Thanks in advance!

Good South Asian alteration place?

Hi! I am best man at my friend's wedding and for the attire I will be wearing a Sherwani. He sent me the one he wants me to wear. However, the size is much too large and I must get it altered. Does anyone here know a good alteration place that specializes or is familiar in altering South Asian style clothing? Preferably looking for a location near or in downtown as I do not have a vehicle. Thanks!

Snow Removal

I just want to draw attention to an issue in a way most Calgarians don't think about it. Snow removal, and how it impacts low income families and people with mobility issues.

Families relying on the use of a stroller because they don't own cars and people with wheelchairs really struggle to get around in the winter. Many people who live on corner lots don't seem to know what their sidewalk responsibilities are, and no one takes care of the curb cuts going into the roads.

What's more is the amount of shopping centres such as grocery stores that don't have genuinely and fully accessible sidewalks, forcing people to walk (wheel) on the roads and parking lots to get to where they are going.

With these issues in mind, if feels like salt in the wound when you find some sidewalk with well maintained snow removal, and an oversized SUV is parked across it.

The holiday season is a good time to think of those less fortunate than ourselves, so if I can, ask please of anyone who has read this far, to please be considerate of their neighbors who cannot get around with a car right now.

Real Canadian Superstore 20th Avenue

Idk if they know this but superstore does have parking spots…. You don’t have to block the fire lane or park on the side walk

Housing Question

Would you prefer a 1,000 SF bungalow on a 50’ 120’ lot in a good area example Rutland Park

Or a new infill half duplex in a slightly better area say Altadore on half the land.

Assuming prices are the same

What happened to letting people get off the bus/train/elevator before getting on?

Everyday I see people pushing their way on the train, or crowding the door of the bus to get on. Everyday when I leave an elevator at school, there’s someone standing in the way or pushing in before people have unloaded. Why? Waiting an extra 10 seconds to let unload won’t kill you. That extra 10 seconds is get gonna make you any later for something.

Can we normalize calling people out for not making room? I’m sick of it. I’ve started calling people out, or, when getting off train/bus, just waking straight ahead and pushing people out the way.

I donno why the memory popped into my head this morning and I just wanna see if I can find some old pictures of the place for nostalgia

Where to report vlack mold in a building?

My girlfriend and I frequent a public building that is not a direct food service venue. And we noticed a pipe leaking, and around the pipe that's leaking looks like black mold. We talked to the tenants and they said they have talked to the building manager multiple times but they refuse to do anything about it.

So where do i report this to hopefully force the building manager to properly fix it?

Calgary bakery that sells Fruitcake

Hey everyone! Every year I send my aunt in Calgary a fruitcake for Christmas. I like to find somewhere new every year. (The best one I've found is a bakery in Ottawa called Adam Bakes or something like that). It is an expensive tradition because fruitcakes are heavy and mail is not cheap, but a tradition nonetheless. This year, with the postal strike, this is proving difficult. So I am trying to see if there is a bakery in Calgary that uses Uber or Skip to deliver their goods. Does anyone know of a bakery in the city that sells fruitcake and delivers? She lives in the NW.
