For anyone who is taking or has taken CMPUT 261, what are the labs for? I haven't attended any since it isn't mandatory, but now I'm worried that I might be missing something important. Is it just for consultation with the TAs?
Anyone know any parking lots close to the UofA that I can plug my car in? Live down south and I used to go to Lot 65 but they don’t have any plugins.
How do you do, fellow GENET 270ers. I missed last week's seminar, had a doctor's appointment. Wouldn't have missed it for the world, got my dysphoria diagnosis and I am positively chuffed. What's not great is that I lack notes from the seminar from which to study, and a lot of my friends skipped. Do any of you happen to have some you're willing to share?
Wondering if anyones in Onita Blankenfeldt’s MARK 432 class and willing to share their notes up until last class? Offering 15$!!!
Hello!! I was told by our prof to ask for notes because that what he usually tests on but I am new to the class and I was wondering if anyone would share their notes with me? Thank you so much I really appreciate the help!!
When I go to the manage one card account website, it just pops up an error and has been doing this for months. Does anyone know if there's a different website I have to use?
I have an exam but there is a weather warning for tonight and tmrw, what are the odds I get another day to study
Can I switch from a co op program to another co op program in engg? Also who can I talk to about switching programs?
The title I am an international
Hey does anyone know that it is difficult to change program from honor CS Software to honor CS (sole CS)?
Thanks!
What are the terms? 8 months study & 4 months work for 5 years ?? Or something like 8 months study & 4 months for 4 years and then a whole year?
Hi, I was wondering if there were any clubs that need any volunteering help? I sadly missed out on career day, but im eager to help out in any way possible if needed! thank you
I am planning to accept my offer to UofAlberta, but I am having a problem in calculating the total cost of attendance, mainly the housing plan.
I am an international student and i plan to live in-campus. The housing+food costs are around 13000CAD per 8 months
I can't understand the 8 month period at all. What does it mean? For example like my degree is 4 years that is 48 months. So does that mean i will have to pay the 13k 6 times???
Hello! Does anyone know of any accessible dance practice spaces on campus that are available anytime or most of the time? I'm looking for a convenient spot to practice dance. Thanks!
how exactly does a tariff imposed by the usa to canada or canada to usa effect us? and with the PM saying he is going impose a retaliation tariff does that mean prices are gonna keep going up
I meet the pre-reqs but it's not letting me validate? Is this a glitch?i m so confused. Also, it says students with a certain amount of credits get priority, but for me to reach this priority in 2nd year, i wouldve had to take 5 classes every semester which i quite literally cannot do because of conflicting courses. Rn i dont have 60 credits. Does this mean I wont be able to enroll in the class due to high demand and limited space?
Can anyone PLEASE tell me when Michael Sharp has his first PSYCH 105 midterm? And which chaps are included? Please i beg 🙏
This is my last desperate attempt at getting the syllabus for Hist 179 (I took it in Fall 2024). I need the syllabus to get transfer credit at my current university. Please please help if you also took this course and have the syllabus! Already emailed the prof (no answer) and scoured the u of a catalogue for it. No luck.
Hello!! I’m an Ontario resident. Wondering if anyone here has applied to the PhD program. If they plan on attending in-person or virtual.
If you’re currently a PhD candidate. How has your experience been so far/ is there anything you wish you knew prior to starting.
So my roommate moved out or transferred, and I was wondering if there would be a new roommate or not. (Hopefully not)
Our first lab is now over. It was so STRESSFUL!!
I understand that Prof has done everything he could think of to ensure we could understand the lab instructions. (Thank you so much for giving us practice examples, video help, and answered my questions no matter how stupid there were mainly because sometimes he would overcomplicate things, and I’m sleep-deprived for the most part.)
I understand that the syllabus he showed us on the first day of class, in addition to the instructions, showed us how to work through the lab. The due dates and group members were there for a reason.
I guess I’m directing anger to myself.
Everything was sailing smoothly. I introduced myself on the forum, and they responded with a reasonable time that works for us. HOWEVER!! When we met, I prepared my lap report with everything completed. BUT!!! Both of them didn’t start their lab!! They didn’t even know what was happening in it!! I thought that was what was expected of us when meeting?? I guess I didn’t mention that,,,, but the syllabus mentioned this??? I thought I would put all of our reports together, and at least attend a zoom meeting to ask questions on our lab (I appreciate the TA doing this!!) so that we could finish it on Tuesday!! Gosh!!
I didn’t exclude them; they were being reasonable. They told me a date I would expect their work before it was due. Alrighty! I justified this, because i) I didn’t explicitly say what this meeting was about (but the syllabus did!! if only they read it!!), ii) their majors sounded busier than mine, iii) they were male whereas I am female (I‘m very non-confrontational, and they were so so big), and iv) I wanted to use my lab report to compare their answers because I wanted to do really well this semester!!!
Then here comes Friday. They haven’t finished yet!! I helped them through text,,,,, attended a zoom meeting to ask the TA for clarification,,,,,, redid a few questions that TA said were incorrect,,,,,,, and tried to avoid someone’s coughing in front of me. ALL IN 2 HOURS!!
Oh my gosh. I felt so dizzy after. I don’t know why I put myself through this!! What was I thinking??
Someone, please, PLEASE tell me to grow a backbone; they didn’t even thank me.
Anyone have tips for studying for the BIO 107 midterm with Damian Cirelli? His notes are so unorganized and jump from topic to topic, and it's taking me forever to compile everything into something actually useful. If anyone has good study guides, past notes, or even just an idea of what to focus on, I'd really appreciate it.
Also, does anyone have a key for the first practice midterm? Bc wdym there's no key?? How are we supposed to check if we’re on the right track? Seriously feeling like I’m paying all this money just to teach myself the content.
Would love any help—thanks in advance!
What's up guys I have a question, I'm currently a first year in the university of lethbridge engineering transfer program. Does anyone who what my minimum GPA needs to be to get into comp engg as well as comp engg co-op?
Last term, I was in a very good mental state and academic position but near the very end, I started to get burnt out. I started off this term very exhausted and now that midterms have started, my mental state is declining. I was just wondering how everyone else is doing 😭 any great comeback stories? Thanks guys

Elon Musk has thrown his support behind the U.S. Republican Party—a party that has been deliberately targeting its closest neighbours with tariffs that will cause Canadians to lose jobs and drive up prices for everyday necessities. And yet, Musk controls X, a platform that shapes political discourse right here in Canada. Is it in our best interest to partake in an online space influenced by a billionaire with an agenda to further interests of U.S. elites to the expense of Canadians? I certainly don't think so.
Canadians need to fight back. We can do this with our wallets, but as well with the type of social media we choose to engage in as a collective. Holding a protest can be a step forward in terms of bringing attention to the issue and mobilizing Canadians to have our voices heard. The intent of the protest would be to specifically encourage people and institutions (including the UofA) to delete X accounts. This is inspired by the protest held recently among many Subreddits that involved banning posts with links to X. The hope more longitudinally would be to weaken X's overall reach.
Would be interested to hear other perspectives and gauge general interest on this idea.
I've lost so much in grades this year because I keep forgetting to submit assignments. The professors in my classes this year have more restrictive timelines for deadlines than i've experienced in the past. Completely closing assignments instead of docking marks for late admissions. In years past before I was diagnosed it took me having the adrenaline rush of the close deadline to be able to focus on my assignments and complete them. Accepting that I was going to get docked 5-10% due to a late submission. But now being properly medicated, I'm able to get ahead and complete my assignments in advance. I could never have imagined doing this in previous years and its been really rewarding to be able to take my time to understand the material, and not have to be in a state of panic to complete it. But, now I keep forgetting to get them in before the deadline. Hours of work, completely useless. I understand that its my own fault for not setting up more guardrails in my life. I've already set multiple alarms for other assignments I have due this week. But its frustrating thinking your getting ahead and overcoming your struggles only to have new and different memory and attention struggles to contend with. I hope other people can relate to this and understand that even if your struggling. Your not a failure, and your not a bad person even if you disappoint yourself sometimes. All you can do is try to find ways to give yourself grace and try to set of systems and habits that keep you on track. Oh well, keep on living la vida loca UAlberta students. Stay warm this weekend.
I have a super boring class and bad teacher for English 30-1… I’m considering dropping it and taking it online. Does anyone know the easiest online school to do it through and / or what it’s like? Thank you!
